DiStefano wines are a gift from Mark Newton, founder and owner of the winery, to his wife Donna DiStefano. The DiStefano Winery was established in 1983 being one of the first 5 wineries in Woodinville, now known as Woodinville Wine Country and home to more than 100 wineries and tasting rooms. The winery produces high quality white and red wines made from classic varietals grown in Washington State such as Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The winery does not own its own vineyards, but relies on long-term relationships and contacts with existing well know vineyards, such as Willard and Roza Hills in Yakima Valley, Bacchus and Dinoysus in Columbia Valley, Rosebud and Weinbau on Wahluke Slope, and Alder Ridge in Horse Heaven Hills. The wines from DiStefano have consistently received excellent marks from the national and international wine press.

This was my first visit to this winery and it is in the middle of the warehouse district. Parking was easy and right by the tasting room.
The tasting room itself was a bit unorganized and full of crafts.
The service was different from any other wineries. I did not get any information on what I was tasting nor where the wine was from, which is what I am expecting from a tasting room. What I did get was a full story about comics and arts and crafts.
I personally won't go back which is unfortunate because the sparkling wine they have is good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 11432656252Oct 25, 2020
Distefano Winery has some solid reds that are worth checking out if in the area. My friend and I were visiting wineries in this north end of Woodinville and started our adventure with Distefano.
When I tried to make a reservation a few days beforehand, I e-mailed the contact from the site, to which they responded quickly, saying that a reservation is not required. That was refreshing to hear, as most wineries are requiring reservations during COVID-19. So we were easily able to visit in the late afternoon on a Saturday. There's outdoor seating here, and it's dog-friendly.
We tried four wines: a sauv blanc, a red blend, a cab sauv and a sangiovese. Of all of the wines, I really enjoyed the red blend, the Meritage. It had cab sauv, cab franc and petit verdot, so was bold enough and seemed like a wine that could go with many different dishes. They also had vermouths here, which we didn't try, but noted for next time.
Distefano was a solid winery/tasting room in Woodinville with reds that were smooth and drinkable. The employee who helped us was very friendly and sociable; we had a nice time here.

We stopped by on Sunday afternoon because of the sparkling wine. It was very good, however the staff was incredibly distracting. Didn't learn anything about the wines and ended up stopping our tasting after the sparkling rose. Probably won't be back due to the lack of wine related engagement we received.

Small tasting room in the Artisan Hill/Junction area of Woodinville. There was a group of us that did a tasting here, there were several customers in and out during the 2 hours we spent there which was nice to see.
The wine itself is actually nice, I very much liked the Sauvignon Blanc, and one of the reds was lovely though I lean more to white wines. I did notice the sediment that was mentioned in other reviews but it didn't bother me.
The staff member seemed completely overwhelmed and kept spilling wine everywhere on each pour which is why I can't rate this place higher. Don't wear white or bright clothes here just in case.
$10 for 5 tastings, good value. They also have Vermouth which I have to go back and try.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2021
Ok, this is a tough review to write. We had a group of four and all of us liked the wine. But half of our group didn't like the experience because of the upselling of a paper mache figures which the guy made. I didn't think anything of it because it was different and unusual and I'm always going to remember it. But the other half of the group didn't like it and thought it ruined their wine experience there. I ended up getting two bottles. There are some amazing flavors here. I loved the Carmenere and the bittersweet vermouth. I'll definitely be back.

I had a great visit. The wine makers son John was making a cosplay costume as he told me the stories of cosplay and winemaking. So I got educated in both departments. Was a different but very fun experience! I purchased a bottle to take home, the Cabernet to be exact. Delicious! The vermouth is fabulous as well! Sadly, I was too stuck on the Cab to buy one, but next time!

I had never been to DiStefano before but a great Groupon got me in the door. My wife and I went on a quick date for a full flight and we were not disappointed! We actually got to meet Mark, the owner, who was in town covering a shift. He has a long history in the business and is very knowledgeable (one would hope so!), so if you get a chance to sit down with him you're in for some good conversation. There are a couple tables underneath sun umbrellas outside, that's where we spent most of our time sipping wine, talking shop with Mark and meeting other visitors.
The inside is pretty typical to most of the tasting rooms in the area, it's a mix of tasting room and storage space. You can see many barrels aging in the back which is neat. Also, behind the counter, are big jars of all the botanicals they used to make Vermouth.
Speaking of Vermouth...I'm sure you'll find a wine you enjoy (we really liked the Sauvignon Blanc and Sangiovese) but fell in love with the Sweet Vermouth. I believe DiStefano is going to be a leader in Vermouth really soon as they have 3 good blends for you to sample. You'll love the presentation of sipping it straight, then mixed with mineral water and grapefruit peel.
We ended up buying a bottle of Sweet Vermouth and aren't disappointed!

FRIENDS DON'T LET FRiENDS LEAVE WITHOUT A BOTTLE OF FABULOUS VERMOUTH!! We tasted here late December and here I am on Valentines Day drinking a glass of Distefano FABULOUS Cab sauv and WISHING IT WAS VERMOUTH!!
Don't get me wrong! There was MUCH to love about this place even if vermouth isn't your thing. For one thing, the history.
This small, boutique winery was one of the first in the area. Started in 1990? When there were only 4 Wineries in Woodinville and 30 in Washington. This winemaker knows his stuff and has had a long career, starting with sparkling wines, moving to reds, but now thinking of going back to champagnes /sparklings.
But back to the important stuff. VERMOUTH. I don't think I knew what vermouth was. We tasted three types of varying sweetness. Generously poured in a mini cocktail with fresh orange rind. Ohhhh.... How i wish I had a bottle in the house rigggghhhhhtt now!
Must go back!

The man we met here was very nice. The winery is in a good location, right in the warehouse district. We bought a bottle, and the wine we tasted when we were there was good, but is a little sediment-y for my taste. Definitely worth stopping by though!
