Del Prete Italian Pastry

Their Italian rum cake is honestly the best cake you can ever have!  We've been eating this cake for family birthdays for years and years.  

The absolute best there is.

Del Prete is an Italian pastry shop/bakery in Bridgeport. They have cannoli, cannoli cake, cakes made to order, Italian pastries and cookies. If you're going to a party they wrap nice trays. Parking is street parking. They're really popular and there are long lines for the holidays.

I grew up near this neighborhood and we always got the
Sunday pastries and bread and all the great layered sprinkled cherry juice birthday cakes.  Nothing compares and now we moved and live about 50 miles away but still come down to get our fix and birthday cakes! The best cannolis ever!!!

The most authentic Italian pastries, cannoli and cakes. Del Prete made my sons first birthday cake and it was amazing. We ordered a cannoli sheet cake. The pastries are so moist and full of flavor, we stop in for a treat often. Will definitely order the cannoli cake for other occasions!!

The best period My favorites are cannolis, casada,and Bungelow cake. The only suggestion is order Bungelow cake before weekends I had to go somewhere else to get one because I ordered on Saturday for Sunday and was told no special cakes orders  on weekends so for the first time we had to do elsewhere only to be disappointed . So now I ll call on Thursday for a weekend cake

I have been going here for over 60 years. There is no better ANYWHERE. The cannoli cakes are the best and all the pastries are great

Delicious Italian pastries just like I used to have as a kid.  Everything is wonderful, especially the birthday cake with Italian creme inside and whipped cream on the outside.  YUMMY!!!

Submitted an order for a cake about 4 business days in advance. Asked for rum cake with whipped cream icing. I made it a point to confirm with the gentleman who took the order that they would, in fact, frost the cake with whipped cream, and he assured me that all of their rum cakes are. OK, great. I pick up the cake, and at first look and taste, I knew immediately that it was frosted with whipped topping and not whipped cream. Major difference. It had the horrible aftertaste of the hydrogenated vegetable oil garbage that comes from toppings like Cool Whip or Rich's Bettercreme. If I had been told that they use artificial whipped cream and that there would be an upcharge for REAL whipped cream, I would have gladly paid it without issue. But in this case, it's the failure to disclose that closed the book on me ever giving Del Prete another thought, much less another dollar.

They really need a better system of ordering and picking up. They write everything down in a big book. For the holidays, you order ahead and STILL have to wait in line to pick up, 2 hours!! Sent someone to pick up cookies and pastries that were ordered last week and they insisted we only ordered cookies. They quoted my husband $204 , and asked If we wanted heavy on the mini cannolis , he remembers the exact conversation. How about investing in a computer system with order numbers and receipts?

Second time making a mistake. A couple of years ago, we ordered AND paid for a cake for our daughters surprise birthday party. Picking up the cake the night of the party, no cake. They wrote it down (again in the book) on the wrong date. They actually wrote it down for the same day we ordered instead of the following week.

Good pastries but it's not worth the aggravation.

I'm just glad that they are not closer to my house.
