Dawn's Family Deli

This afternoon we went to Dawn's in Summertown to eat. Harley my granddaughter wanted ice cream. Harley has a very bad nut allergy. So Harley wanted to know what was in the ice cream bc she has never ate it there before. Since she was 5 years old she has been in ambulance due to just being in a store someone came in the store with nuts dust on their clothes. It's bad to the point her throat starts closing up. I ask Dawn what was in it she said I don't know. Then she went on to yell from her kitchen "anyone with a Nut Allergy Doesn't need to be eating here." Oh my blood pressure skyrocket. No I will not be back in your restaurant again. How disrespectful could you be for a customer just to ask so a child won't have a reaction to something. So if you have a Nut Allergy or your child does you don't need to eat at Dawn's

A while back my parents had walked in here and were not greeted. Not seated. Stood there for forever and the staff just ignored them. My mom had mentioned this (along with several others) and whoever was running the fb page explained the staff had been changed. But then proceeded to say that any and all negative comments would be deleted and they would be blocked. This is not how you run a business. Looks like the only thing keeping this place running is the locals. Sad. You don't deserve business when you take away ppls honest opinions. As far as food I have not tried. Good luck.

Dawn is the best "home style" cook in the area by far! We LOVE this restaurant. Breakfast is the best meal of the day, but it's all good! For supper, the hamburger steak here is fantastic. I don't even like hamburger steak, but a THIS is incredible. Burgers, chicken tenders & their spin on Philly cheese steak are all mouthwatering. The only downside, if you can call it that, U.S. This is not skinny food. It's rich, fattening & amazing!

We have been there a couple of times and had good experiences. However, we (6 of us) were there on 3-26-18. We waited on our food for 1 hr & 10 minutes. The waitress never said a word to us. She finally brought our food, it was good but just warm. One of the members of our party told the waitress (in a nice way)that their service was unacceptable. She just glared at him and quickly walked away. Please waitresses just communicate with your customers.
