This establishment was very exquisite and top tier. There were lots of pictures of celebrities with different members of the staff. There was a man playing piano, who was quite talented. There were two levels to the restaurant with a bar on the lower level. The menu was not large, but there were plenty of specials being offered. The service was appreciated and the food came out very quickly.
They start the meal off with a basket of bread. It came out hot and was soft on the inside while being crunchy on the outside. It was a pleasant start to the meal.
The Sicilian Rice Ball ($10) and Jumbo Colossal Crabmeat ($23?) was ordered to start the meal. The crabmeat was a special. The rice ball appetizer was one small rice ball with meat sauce, basil, mozzarella, and red pepper sauce. I thought it was average. There was nothing that popped out to me when eating this. The crabmeat was very good. It was served with two different sauces, cocktail and dry mustard sauce. Both were ideal choices to be paired with the crabmeat. There was just enough crabmeat in this appetizer. It was fresh and had no fishy taste to it at all.
For an entrée, I ordered one of their specials, veal osso buco ($44?). It came with a saffron risotto. There was just not enough meat here. The shank was very small, but did have lots of marrow inside. Besides that, the meat was very succulent and enjoyable as well as the sauce. The risotto was also delicious. I was just very disappointed with the size of the entrée especially for the price.
Will I go back? Possibly.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2019
A group of nine of us had dinner here. The decor is quite nicely. The service was excellent. They were very patient with us since not everyone arrived at the same time. Our server was very good. We ordered calamari, mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat, bruschetta, and garlic bread for the group. The appetizers were all wonderful. We ordered a variety of entree that included pasta seafood and veal. All of it was great. Everyone enjoyed their food. There was just one mishap. This seems to be a converted house and the kitchen is in the basement. There's no elevator. While brining up the last 2 entrees, something happened so that they had to prepare them again. The wait was less than 10 minutes and the food was good. They also apologized that our bill was delayed, but they were in the process of billing a large group that needed individual receipts. All-in all, our server was very good.

Dinner was delicious. They are know for their veal. Our server wasn't very friendly. Drinks were not consistently filled. I found it strange that we had to keep asking for a drink. Instead of being offered a refill?
The lounge is cozy. There's a bar and live entertainment. Dark but nice.
When we left, we came back inside to wait for our uber and the owner offered a shot of limoncello. Very friendly family like feeling. He said it would cleanse our pallets while we waited. So kind!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 17, 2018
I came here with coworkers on a Monday night. We were a party of 8 and had a reservation but it wasn't crowded at all in the restaurant. The wait staff was attentive at first, but after we had our drinks disappeared for the better part of 30 minutes. We got two bottles of wine for the table, one white and one red. The wine came out quickly and then they took our orders. I ordered the chicken parmesan, as did my coworker. One of us at the other end of the table ordered the veal steaks and I think the veal steaks is the reason our food took a solid 40 minutes to come out. The chicken Parmesan was very good, not the best I've ever had but it was solid. After a lot of debate at the table, we did finally order dessert. We had a couple of Tiramisu for the table and it was delicious. I judge an Italian restaurant by its Tiramisu and the Tiramisu here solidified this a solid 4 star review.

Aesthetics & atmosphere: You walk in for the first time and you notice the elegance meeting the Italian family style ristorante
Service: You're welcomed by their staff and they take care of you as if you're family about to be treated to the best food in Baltimore's Little Italy
Meal Quality: You taste what others have told you is the best in Baltimore's Little Italy and you realize they were right! Their Veal Saltimbocca is outstanding and I highly recommend their other entrees too!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Linda Y.Clarksville, MD580125599Jan 2, 2017
We only came for dessert, but I was astounded by this little gem in Little Italy. Furnished like a 1980s restaurant, the atmosphere was romantic with its live soulful music, dim lights, and very friendly staff.
There wasn't a menu for dessert so we had to pay extra attention as our server described the options. After careful deliberation, we chose the Italian egg custard and chocolate cake with ice cream without knowing it's cost (~$15 each).
The chocolate cake was gluten free and deliciously nutty, but the ice cream was probably gluten free too so it tasted off-putting. The egg custard was one of those desserts that I could never get tired of. Each bite wasn't any different from the previous, but something made it special - maybe slightly infused with alcohol.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - MaryKate R.Philadelphia, PA294Mar 24, 2019
My husband and I came here for our 6th year wedding anniversary. We were greeted right away. You get this old fashion Italian feel when you walk in. The staff was amazing! Constantly filled our waters, and any crumbs they came and cleaned it off. I had the grilled salmon, and my husband had the grilled veal chop. This veal chop was HUGE!! The waiter knew my husband and I was drinking while eating and they even offered to drive us back to our hotel..our walk was only 5 minutes so we didn't need it. At the end of the dinner for our anniversary they came out with a shot of limoncello and REAL ricotta cheesecake delicious!!!!!

I wonder if in 100 years places like this will still be around. Will the nostalgia fade or will a new generation carry on this dying concept of "little italy". The walls pressed with photos of the owners with celebs, boxers, the donald (hillary is there too) lol. Baltimore does a good job of keeping a respectable row of restaurants, and da mimmo, claiming to have the best chef in the goddamn state, is very particular about steaks being medium, "1.5in" slices of veal as big as your head and a whole lotta lobster.
The menu is full of greatest hits so bring your glasses or contacts or whatever because you're gonna be reading that menu for a few minutes. And they alwaus give you a lot of time and space here. The service here is purposely elongated, giving the feeling of a long, meaningful family dinner. Appetizers are being passed around ohhh. Lobster ravioli, 2 please. Lobster tail with cocktail sauce, with a tiny fish swimming in the bowl. Lol. Garlic bread, holy shnap, that was good, and gone really quick.
I had the shrimp scampi. Simple creamy delicious. Oh man. Italian food is so heavy. Food baby is growing. You definitely feel pregnant leaving this place. This is the epitome of good ass italian cooking. Rich flavorful and served up in this dining room that feels like the 18th century euro/italian pasterual exhibit. Oil painting of the coast of capri, bored looking women in windowsills and a really oversized grape in a golden chalice.
The service was friendly and knowledge. The kids name is mimmo, so you know its totally a fam business. I feel like that kid is so ready to peace from the restaurant biz. He was saying how he had law school finals this week lol haha. Hes definitely born into this shit.
A really rich meal, highly recommended for families and old fogies.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 12, 2018

Was wandering around Little Italy and decided on Da Mimmo with zero research and without even looking at the menu outside. My salmon was done a shade past the point I prefer it, but otherwise delicious. My companions had shrimp scampi and flounder. Both were fantastic.
Service was spot on, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. 5/5, will definitely return the next time we're in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
