Our experience here was very enjoyable, friendly staff, a nice variety of entrees and small plates not found every where. First visit but not our last.
Live entertainment on some nights.
You will not be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 14, 2017
Day-tripping through Tulsa and stopped in to grab some brunch. Cute patio set-up outside, great for people watching. I opted for an inside table (little minimalistic - but wide open spaces between tables). Service was prompt and friendly. There are some great brunch options, each of which seemed to have a unique flavor twist (think "Tequila Lime Hollandaise", "Jalapeno Relish", or "Macerated Berries & Whiskey Syrup" to name a few). My choice ... "The 2 D'Vina Smoked Salmon Bennies Topped with Tequila Lime Hollandaise, Roasted Rosemary, and accompanied by Garlic Yukon potatoes.
To note: you can sub the Smoked Salmon for Candied Pork Belly Bacon.
Dish came out relatively quickly and was delish! Each Benny sat on top of a nice portion of Smoked Salmon on a half biscuit. Tequila Lime Hollandaise - YUM! I got mine on the side but eventually drenched my biscuits with it. Potatoes - great flavoring and perfect texture! Will definitely be back to try some dishes off the regular menu if I am ever in the area again.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2017
Very torn about this place...
Pros:
- Inside and the patio were really nice/had a nice ambiance
- Live jazz
- Our waitress was the sweetest
Cons....:
- Food is overpriced. We were there with the Groupon. Get the Groupon.
- Food was eh. Salmon and pork loin were dry. The rib eye was okay, but not amazing. The grilled vegetables and mac and cheese were good, though.
- While it was nice having live jazz music, if you're sitting inside and right next to the band, it's a bit much. It's hard to carry on a conversation because the music is so loud.
- I was told the bill was a certain amount, but when we got the actual check, it was less and I could've gotten more dishes. Kind of irked me all that Groupon money went to waste.
We were there on a Friday night around dinner (6:30-7:30ish). The whole time we were there, there were only 2 parties in the dining room and maybe 5-6 parties eating on the patio.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2017Updated review
We sat out on the patio tonight. It was lovely. Danielle (aka "Chicago") was our server and we remembered her as the bartender on our very first visit to D'vina's after it opened. She took just as good of care of us as the first time we visited.
The place wasn't busy at all which worries us. But, it was First Friday and we figured a lot of the crowd was in the Brady District.
We started with the Romesco and those delicious breads! I can't get enough of them.
Then I went with the feature of the night, a short rib which was promised to be melt-in-your-mouth, fall-off-the bone delicious. It was. We also tried the rib eye which was fork tender as well.
Although the short rib was delectable, my sides were almost as amazing. I went the dal and the wilted greens. They were so good that next time I visit, I am going to create my own vegetarian plate of three or four side dishes.
We finished out the meal with some super strong coffee and beignets. (An order of beignets is typically three, but because we closed down the place, they threw in one extra.)
This may be one of the best restaurants in Tulsa. Service is always top-notch and the food is amazing!
(Sitting on the patio also gave us a ring side seat to watching the comings and goings on Cherry Street.)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 20, 2016Previous reviewDavina is creating three-course meals to coincide with whatever is playing at the PAC. Last night she was celebrating Elf: The Musical with a Buddy Salad (an Asian noodle salad with a pour-over dressing), N.P. Strips (KC strips masquerading as North Pole Strips) and a peppermint ice cream.
We struggled to order this menu because of the name! :) (Not big musical fans.)
The salad was delicious. The roasted garlic-Yukon gold mashed potatoes were delicious. My steak had a good flavor but was a bit fatty.
Dessert, which I was the least excited about, was the standout. I am not a fan of peppermint ice cream, but this version had a nice bite to it. The cinnamon coulee was a great addition.
I wonder if this dessert will be on the upcoming Christmas Carol themed dinner?Jul 31, 2016Previous reviewAs we were strolling along Cherry Street on a late Sunday afternoon, we were actually headed to Pint for some cocktails to kill time until Lucky's or Smoke opened at 5:00. I had read that a new restaurant had taken over the old Doe's Eat Place and as we passed by, we saw they were open. Taking a chance, we sauntered in. It was around 4:30 and the place was almost empty so we just seated ourselves at the bar. Again, our plan was to have a cocktail and then decide where we wanted to eat.
Let's just say that after very good service, chatting with the owner, Davina, some delicious cocktails and an appetizer, we walked out around 7:30, stuffed to the gills and truly satisfied.
We were first greeted by the bartender who was gregarious and efficient. We loved her sense of humor. She was truly all about promoting this new restaurant (only three weeks old) and ran to get us brunch and lunch menus to peruse.
They have a few beers on tap, including Coop F-5 and Dead Armadillo. I went with the Tropical Mule, a blend of jalapeno, grapefruit vodka and topped off with ginger beer. Served in a "rocks" glass instead of a traditional copper mug, it was refreshing and light.
We started with the black bean hummus and I don't know what we enjoyed more. The D'vina bread, as explained by the owner, is a yogurt-based bread with some secret Trini' spices. It's delicious and I probably could have eaten another order. The black bean hummus had just the right amount of spice.
I would not classify the food as American as mentioned above. The scope of the menu is traditional comfort food with some international twists. Davina brings her Sri Lankan flair. We were told that one of the chefs was from Trinidad and one had trained in Germany. These food cultures were melded together well. (More than well, actually!)
For entrees, it was tough to pick. We finally decided on the Chicken Tikka Masala and the pork loin bathed in red curry with a kona rub. On the side, we decided on grilled veggies (which were more than delicious in the extra red curry sauce) and the faro risotto. I had a glass of a Basque wine, Camino something or other. It was a delicious pairing with the Tikka Masala. (I was eating the Masala, but I finished most of the faro risotto.)
Before we left, we were talked into ordering the cocoa-kona-Gran Marnier truffles. OMG!
We liked the casual atmosphere at the former Doe's and the steaks and tamales. (Davina told us a great story about how her steaks compare to Doe's, but it's her story and I will let her share it with you when you visit.) I LOVE the ambiance at D'vina's and what she's done with the old place. The walls were painted a calming blue-gray and the patio was beautifully set. She told us to wander to the back room to check how she had redone it. (Doe's back room was just a jumble of sort of kitschy decor.) Unfortunately, we forgot to check it out. She said she eventually has plans to expand to the upper story and ultimately put in a rooftop bar. Definitely, D'vina's is much classier.
I can't wait to return, especially in cooler weather to sit on the patio. I also want to run down the entire cocktail list AND have one of those steaks.
I almost gave this a five-star review, but I want to give them room to improve so I can do another review upon our return visit (of which there will be many).
Kudos to all on a great restaurant opening. - Jun 13, 2017Updated review
How have I missed this jewel for almost 11 months? Another locally owned place with an owner who is absolutely delightful, polished and attentive to details.
You will find a menu that is bursting with flavors and probably a few choices that may be new to you. I had an off menu salmon dip that was clean and fresh with a definite pop of fresh dill mixed in. As I lifted the lid on the Tiki Marsala it was worth just stopping to take in the aroma before tasting it with the cilantro rice. Ask for your preferred heat level and you will be greeted by a deep, rich , thick sauce with chunks of tender meat. The flavor memory will be with you for days.
Tres leches cake was light, chilled and flavorful. A perfect finish to a spicy meal. I almost raked the whipped cream off before I realized that again a lot of effort went into providing fresh whipped cream- nothing canned here.
Wines are unique and offer a chance to try new grapes. They offer flights for wine, whiskey, scotch and it is served on a silver tray with the name written so you can reference as you taste.
The drink list will take a minute to digest as it has personal twist and fun combinations- try a Patron Old Fashioned!
As an example of details - I asked for a taste of a unique vodka I had not previously tasted. The owner asked if I wanted it chilled and I said 'sure' the vodka was ice cold and served in a frozen shot glass.

We went here using the Groupon. The food we got was pretty good but I was kind of disappointed that they didn't have the crab cakes that I was so excited about trying. The Groupon works for alcohol to so we each got a drink and that was nice. I had the asian chicken sandwich and my boyfriend had the shrimp Po Boy. While we each liked their food I don't think that either of us would get the same thing again. I look forward to checking out their dinner menu soon.

Here early on a Thursday evening. Seems we are the only couple in the place. Here for at least an hour and never saw any other customers come in.
Tried order the calamari and we're told they were out of that and the mussels as their seafood delivery hadn't come this week.
Ordered the Monkey Brains instead. Thus was a very good dish so don't let the name scare you. Basically a pepper popper. 5 peppers stuffed with cheese and small chunks of fish. Then deep fried in a light tempura batter.
I ordered the Chicken Tikka Misala which was traditional as you would expect. Nicely seasoned and a fair portion.
She had the ribeye steak with grilled asparagus & mashed potatoes. She said it was good, but tasted about like we would grill at home. I'm a damned good grill master so it.must have been really good.
Nice decor and ambience. Need to come back on a weekend and try their brunch.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ziggy I.Bedford, TX095Sep 24, 2016
Never, never expected in my travels to experience a very fine cuisine and super enjoyable ambiance representative of major world cultural centers in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Simply AMAZING!
Thank you D'vina and Chef Kurt Fichtenberg for an incredible hospitality and fantastic art of an international cuisine.
It is rare for me to rate a fine restaurant that high.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael R.Seattle, WA66269Jul 13, 2016First to Review
The fare here is very eclectic and tasty. I had the monkey brains and it was unique (which automatically gives points). Then I had the pork belly with fried pears sandwich, which again scored points simply for being unique. The addition of aïoli sauce was a welcome addition.
