My son needed a physical for school sports. It was totally last min ute that he mentioned he needed it today, right now, so he could try out for baseball, not in a week that I had it scheduled for. Panic ensued. Then, he texts me from school, hey mom we can go to CVS to do it. I was like, what! He's crazy. Then....I remembered hearing about the Minute Clinic....jumped on my phone, pulled up their website, booked a physical for in a half hour. Seriously... A. Half. Hour! Just like that!
He's in the back with the doc now, super fabulous bedside manner, can't say enough great things about this service!
And....the day was saved!

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY !
I called CVS MINUTE CLINIC in advanced to ask if they diagnosed and prescribed for a simple UTI infection. They said yes. I went to the clinic and the Nurse Practitioner, Amanda, said she could not help me, because she didn't know what was wrong with me. She charged me the full amount, $79.00 and referred me to the hospital. I was not helped in anyway what so ever at the minute clinic.
I went to the hospital, and exactly they diagnosed me with EXACTLY what I went into the minute clinic for.
The minute clinic is a SCAM to make money. I was not helped in anyway what so ever at the minute clinic.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Giorgio L.Cranston, RI23409Aug 18, 2014
CVS Minute Clinic is another scheme by corporate America tricking you to think you're getting steak when being slipped hamburger instead. While branded as being convenient and easy, the process is anything but. Sadly this is the way our country is going, ever more rife with schemes to extract value siphoning it away from an ever worsening world rather than creating growth or productivity that add or create new value.
I came here several times for various ailments as well as childhood vaccinations such as the flu shot for my kids. Every single time, even after arriving just after 9am, the waits were many, many hours. In terms of receiving care here, there is no one, just the Nurse Practicioners behind closed doors. Should you have questions or problems, there is a pretty useless and ignorant screen to greet you and tell you your waits are exhorbitant, on the orders of 4-6 hours. Sometimes it exaggerates because people get so fed up that they just leave and miss their visit, so you get bumped up, but the waits are painfully long nonetheless.
While killing time here, you don't see that many people going through, and most of them are rather young and not too sick looking. When combining this with the minimal time and rushed service you get, one wonders at the true diligence, motivation and dedication of those employed here, especially in light of the fact that anything of anything beyond basic colds, strep throats or sprains they tell you to go see a real doctor anyway.
Between the waits and lackadaisical service, I don't think the CVS Minute clinic is any good, at least the one here. Done in true CVS style, they're after the quick buck of easy visits. The scam is simple, charging your insurance to basically say nothing is wrong with you, or should something be wrong with you, telling you to see a real doctor while they rack up what would have been a doctor's fee elsewhere, not to mention the meds they prescribe you and all the crap you buy to kill time during the long waits.
I have to give it to CVS, in terms of a profit machine, the Minute Clinic scheme is a A+ stellar money making machine. In terms of something that actually delivers value in terms of satisfying a healthcare need, there is nothing at this "Doc in A Box" for anyone desiring any kind of convenient and genuine medical advice.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela T.Taunton, MA010Apr 24, 2018
. I had a c section six days ago, and have developed a terrible cough and was hoping to get something for it that is a little stronger than what is available OTC, as a cough when recovering from a c section is probably the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I went to the minute clinic, as my PCP is 45 minutes away and I cannot currently drive so I was trying not to put anyone else out more than I already was.
I get to the clinic, and was taken right away, which was great. I proceeded to tell the NP why I was there and that I was just days out of a c section, hadnt even been home from the hospital for 48 hours, and how much pain I was in. She then told me I had to climb onto the table so she could take my vitals.... again, she knew my situation and knew walking was difficult enough....I was almost in tears trying to get up and down from the table and have no idea why I couldn't have had my vitals done sitting in the chair I was already in.
She did end up writing me a prescription for my cough, which was great, so I walked right over to the pharmacy to fill it. I am told by one girl that they have nothing for me, she checked with the pharmacist and he said the same thing. She then walked away and to the bathroom, leaving me at the pickup counter alone. Another girl came over so I told her that the other girl said they didn't have an rx for me but she walked away so I didn't know what I was supposed to do. this second girl said "yeah we don't have a prescription from the minute clinic so you can check again with us in a few minutes but you'll probably have to go back to the minute clinic and ask her again." Not sure how difficult it would've been for her to pick up the phone and call the NP, but I believe it would've been easier than me going back over seeing as she was now with a new patient and I would've needed to wait probably 30 minutes for her to finish before I could ask.
I decided to give it a few minutes of waiting when my phone buzzed. It was a text from a different cvs location telling me my prescription was ready at that pharmacy, which is a 20 minute drive away. I have literally no idea why she would have sent it there, but I was so frustrated and ended up in tears in the middle of the store, that I just left without my prescription and had to send my husband out later on to get the prescription at the other location.
The whole experience was just really not good. Admittedly I am a little hormonal from just giving birth, but I feel like this whole visit could've been made much easier and much more positive if the NP had checked with me on where I wanted my rx sent, and if the pharmacy techs could have taken even one extra minute to check with the NP and see where my rx was.
The only reason they are even getting 2 stars is because a prescription was written for me at all.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer H.Taunton, MA19141Mar 22, 2013First to Review
The first time I went to this minute clinic it was GREAT! My husband went also and felt the same. Fast diagnosis and we got the medications we needed.
But since then, my experience has gone completely downhill. The second time I went to this minute clinic, I went in for what I believe was strep throat or something else cold/virus related. I was told my oxygen levels were too low and that I had to go to the hospital instead. $150 co pay at the hospital later and all I had was a sinus infection and bronchitis.
I got sick again in December and went to the minute clinic. I got there and signed in. 1 hour later, someone finally told the 5-6 other people waiting that the nurse practitioner wasn't in. I tried to go again the next day. Same thing. Then I tried to go the following day. It was after work on a Fri around 5:45ish. I was in the middle of signing in and all of a sudden a box popped up on the machine saying she wasn't taking any more patients and cancelled my registration. I went the next day (saturday) and she wasn't in. I ended up going to the ER.
Today I tried to go again. I've been sick again for a while with what I believe to be a bad sinus infection and possibly an ear infection. I sign in at 9am. There was another patient ahead of me but already in the dr's room. I waited and waited. At 10:05am, the nurse practitioner comes out and tells us that she doesn't know when she's going to be able to take patients because the computers are acting too slow and IT is working on it. Do I just not have any luck here or is this place like this all the time??? I left and went home. Time wasted.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
