Q:
My hubby is deathly afraid of heights. When it says rim trail ride are there any spots that look straight down into the canyon? Or it is more of open space?
A:
You look straight down! The trail along the rim is quite narrow but you will immediately feel comfortable because the horses are sure-footed and the guides are alert and will call out anything if need be. The two guides communicate with walkie… more

Great place! The ride we did took about an 90 minutes. The horses and mules were so fun and the personal really friendly. We definitely recommend it plus it's by the red rock canyon so it has beautiful views. Horses on the pictures were Slim and Barney

After reading Yelp pal Jenni M.'s review I knew this would be the perfect outing for my horse-crazy friend and I while on a short Vegas vacation. It's about a 40 minute drive from the Strip, out in Red Rock Canyon, a beautiful landscape to enjoy a trail ride.
We made reservations online, which is absolutely necessary, and drove out to the ranch at the requested time for the Coyote Canyon ride. They have everyone sign a waiver and then put on a helmet (optional) plus put anything they want to carry into a small saddle bag (make sure you bring a camera or phone for photos). We rode in March so the weather was cool but you might want to bring water and sun protection if you go during the hot summer months. After some preliminary instructions you're assigned a horse or mule and then you're off!
This specific ride lasted a little over an hour. It's is a perfect ride for those who are inexperienced on horseback (or in my case, those who haven't ridden in many years). The horses pretty much follow one another; they've traveled these paths many times so pretty much just go on their own.
The cowboys and cowgirls who journey with the group are very helpful although some are more personable than others. This is a fun diversion if you're spending time in noisy casinos and crave the subtle sounds of nature or if you are just after a relaxed outdoor activity that involves sitting in a saddle.Helpful 9Thanks 1Love this 10Oh no 1 - Lawrence D.Henderson, NV256254307Jan 8, 2024
Really enjoyed my experience here! The horses and mules are taken well care of. They have a group 1 and group 2 of horses and mules there they rotate so they can rest for a day in between riders. The staff were great, friendly, and helpful and even patient for those that have not ridden a horse before. They address all concerns if any before they assign you your horse/mule. The sunset view is breath taking as you ride near red rock valley. We went on a cold day and would suggest bringing water if you rode on a hot summer day. I can only imagine it gets very hot. The dinner was delicious and well proportionate. The s'mores were also great on that cold day. Don't forget to take your horse selfie. Highly recommend!

This was some GREAT FUN!! Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff. These wranglers are very good at what they do, and they listen to you and pay attention to their surroundings at all times. This is a ride with mules and due to the terrain; What a great choice of animal. Mules are very smart and the most surefooted, and can carry more weight than a horse. The terrain was very pretty and not just a flat surface throughout the entirety of the trip. Which was very nice and I really appreciated it. All levels can do this experience, I have quite a bit of experience with horses and riding so for me this was cake.
They offer helmets to those who want the extra comfort and safety. But they are not required. What ever you do remember to tip your wranglers! I personally would have loved to have gone for a couple more hours. But I understand that with the level of experience between some riders and cost this was well worth it.
I took my daughter but there were full families as well as solo riders.

What a great place to ride. As a horse owner and avid rider, I enjoy riding while vacationing. The views were beautiful and the horses were all well mannered and great for any level of riding. The wranglers were professional and helpful to the people who needed it.
The ride was a nice relaxed pace so you could take in all the scenery!!
Drive thru the gates and down to the barn!

Please remember to TIP a your wranglers! That's how they make their money and Legit no one on our group tipped!
10$ at least! per wrangler for the short rides and I would go 20$ for the longer one.
Being as someone who did this before that's what I felt was fair each ride.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Martin M.Whitestone, NY2062020Jun 9, 2023
Went on the Sunset trail ride with BBQ! I highly recommend it. Temps are 5 or 10 degrees Fahrenheit cooler in the evening than in Vegas. Dress appropriately before you get on the horse, as you have to stop the whole ride to put on a warmer shirt. The staff here are amazing! From the chef to the wranglers! It was suggested to either go on the morning or evening rides as it gets extremely warm during the mid day.

My husband and I were hiking the Cowboy Trails when I had a cardiac event. Being too weak and dizzy to walk, 911 sent the rescue teams. Also, Mike Flood, the ranch manager, rode a mule up and brought another mule to help me. Cadillac and Ruby! My first heart problem, first mule ride, first ambulance! While riding down on Ruby, just looking at her big beautiful ears made me happy. I'll be forever grateful for their help. If you get a chance to ride the Cowboy trails, you'll be in excellent hands!
We're also going to enjoy a real trail ride soon!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rebecca S.Las Vegas, NV1203080May 6, 2023
What a great night! It was so much fun! The dinner was so good too. My horse was Mustang Sally, who was sassy, liked to take her time, and eat snacks while walking (sounds like me!). My husband rode big John, who kept trying to make Sally walk faster but she refused. It was my husband's first time on a horse. Our guides Orin and Kat was awesome, told stories on the trail and it told me they enjoy what they do. After dinner, we did Cowboy smores. It was beautiful and fun and 30 mins from my house. Highly recommend! (No horseback riding experience needed and they have helmets if you want to wear one). Tip - bring a jacket in the cooler months. Even if it's 80 during the days, the desert gets cold at nights. And TIP YOUR STAFF! The chef and wranglers deserve tips so bring some cash!
