The thing that I like most about this Tennessee State Park campground, is that It's so close to the interstate. Not close enough that you can hear the interstate noise, from about a mile away. Which was just far enough to be convenient from I75 to grab a nice RV site and crash. They have several pull through sites, which is what we stopped in at the check-in area and requested. Our site was 74, which was on the side of the road, across from the bathhouse. It was actually lakeside, but during May there were too many trees to see the view from there.

Speaking of the lake, it's really small. Maybe it's just the area near the campground, but to me, it was just merely a cove. Hence the name? There were a few spots that were truly cove lake view. I did notice a flier with the 2017 fishing boat rental rates, I'll post a picture of it along with a few others.

The bathrooms were clean, but a bit dated. There were horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, and a huge playground.

The grounds were very well up kept. Each site had a concrete picnic table and about every other site had a charcoal grill. All of the sites were gravel, but fairly level. The majority of the sites were spacious and able to accommodate a truck and RV together, without the two being unhooked.

Had my first fried ice cream there Servings were small compared to what I'm use to, but delicious no less. Nice atmosphere. Indoor & outdoor tables. Local Artists featured. The view is calming overlooking the lake. Ambience polite and friendly.

Decent park. Can get chaotic at times. Specially during tourist season or birthdays.but overall not so bad. Good place to workout or play basketball

The Tennessee Valley Authority began building Norris Dam in the 1930s, which created the Norris Reservoir. They then subsequently had to create Caryville Dam to protect the city of Caryville from the reservoir. The CCC began creating structures for a park in the surrounding area in the late 1930s, and it was deeded to the state in 1950. Today, it has 606 acres, 106 campsites, about three miles of hiking, paved biking trails, fishing, birding, a restaurant, volleyball, basketball, tennis courts, a playground, an observation deck, and a visitors center. We saw a gorgeous crane, and the lake and mountain views are stunning!

We love it here so nice and peaceful. We drive up here from Florida we stayed here 2 times last year and we will be staying here 2 times again. The park ranger's are very nice and helpful. It's most definitely one of our favorite places to stay at

The lake isn't clean, just disgusting stagnant water. There's already enough bugs during the summer, so bring next to standing water is dangerous. There was goose poop everywhere, the whole place was a massive health hazard.

I stayed here in a camper and the sites are a little close and the real beauty which is the lake has very few camp spots right on the water. The geese have pooped all over everything so it smells bad especially when it rains. But when we hiked out to the observation deck overlooking the lake and with the mountains in the background it was worth it!

It was a nice quite place. A lot of trash and dog poop, but other than that it's very peaceful place to have a picnic or camp out. Looked great for fishing too!

On Thursday, April 17th, Tony and I was traveling back to West Virginia for the Easter Holiday. We get so tired of driving the same old route up I-65, so I routed another way home..some NEW SCENERY to view and enjoy...and OMG...I found it !!! I found it !!!

We got off I-75 at the Caryville, TN exit and just stumbled across this gorgeous State Park at the base of the mountain vistas...I just had to stop to take some awesome and stunning photos of the views from the lake and park of these beautiful mountains.

Perfect for a cookout, because there are plenty of picnic tables and shelters. A great play area for the kids and the gorgeous lake with tons of waddling duckies and geese...and I had bread in the van from our missed opportunity yesterday at Centennial park in Nashville..so I was prepared ....or was I !!!
I never dreamed that the geese and ducks would attack and fight each other and go for me...they were swarming me and quacking and the geese were extremely aggressive...and this is something for little kids...IKE !!!!

But, it was fun and the ducks/geese were gorgeous ..I was able to get some great photos..

The lake is so pretty and the scenery is lovely. I found some history about the park I thought I would share..
Cove Lake's 717 acres are situated in a beautiful mountain valley on the eastern edge of the Cumberland Plateau. Scenic nature trails lead through a diversity of wetlands and woodlands offering wildlife viewing for the nature enthusiast. A paved walking/bike trail provides easy access to all park facilities. Visitors can spend the day fishing or simply sitting back and capturing the picturesque vista Cove Lake offers.

I would love to go back here again and enjoy a great cookout. When I see swings and playground equipment, I just have to fight the urges to take off running...and Playing like I was little again!!!
