7/6/2020If you come here for nothing else, come for the service. I dined alone while my partner was getting a massage and I had the nicest bartender in the world. He told me "you haven't lived until you've tried our Guinness cheesecake..." and you know what? He was right. The reuben rolls were very runny for some reason, and I had to ask for thousand island (I think it should be a standard dip) and the house salad was fine. Check out this cute restaurant! The whole staff was awesome and the bathrooms were immaculate - greatly appreciated.

5/13/20201 check-inSo after my flight from Seattle to Milwaukee, had a tiny mocha, followed by a very filling Serbian dinner, I was getting a bit heavy lidded. Warmth and a satiated stomach, I was craving a good night sleep.
But wait there's more said my eager MKE host to introduce me to his home city's celebrated beer culture at County Clare Irish Pub (2/16/20). A very welcoming interior and also well patronized at this late hour. Our kind bartender was patient as I looked at their whiskey list. Ended up passing on a night cap though.
Instead my MKE host placed a huge pint of Guinness for us to consume. Uh, I don't drink beer. And he shouldn't imbibe either. I did take a few heroic sips, but ended up leaving the majority behind. Wished it was only a tasting or a schooner, felt bad leaving the perfectly poured pint back on the counter. - Mr. L.Lake Mills, WI13 friends52 reviews12 photos
3/10/2020When looking for a piece of Ireland this is the Location. We went there Saturday March 7 for dinner.
Starting with a Guinness at the bar, they actually know how to poor it properly. The wait as gravity does its work on your pint is part of the savoring experience.
The food was lovely. We tried the Culcannon Poppers, and the waitress said they couldn't fill the complete order as they had run short, so they made a partial order of Poppers and they would comp us the cost. Hard to argue with that, however i the end they put it on our bill anyway.
We ordered the Rueben and the Roasted Duck Breast. Both were excellent. Most likely one of the best Ruebens I have ever has, as the Corned Beef was very lean.
Once the waitress checked in to se how our meal was, and then she disappeared and never came back. our dishes were cleared, drinks gone, water refilled twice and we saw her around but she never came back. I finally asked the Host to find her as we would like to pay. It must have been 30 minutes, from when we finished to when we finally received the bill. Generally, we would stay and talk, but we had a show and the noise level is very very high (in the 80 decibel range as we measured it).
I would have to say the service was a real negative and then she put the Poppers on the bill. As we were late for our show, i paid quickly and we left. My advice is watch out for the brunette waitress with a pony tail. - Kelsey R.Milwaukee, WI
10/13/2019Stopped in County Clare for a quick drink, and it was really quiet for a Thursday evening. I ordered a Milwaukee Mule, which was really good and larger than you get at most local restaurants these days.
We also go an order of the Rueben Rolls, which were pretty simple - but very good. We also each ordered a side of mashed potatoes which were great! They said they're mashed potato special changes frequently, but I'm sure you can't go wrong. - Ryan P.Chicago, IL
12/13/20191 check-inGreat place for breakfast and really nice service. Everyone at our table got different things from the breakfast menu and all of them were tasty. The American breakfast with the hash brown discs was a great choice and I had the Irish breakfast which was fantastic, even the stuff I didn't expect to taste that great. Next time I'll probably try to swap something out for more of the Irish bacon rashers.
Will definitely be back. - Alisa S.Milwaukee, WI
12/13/20184 check-insCounty Claire is at the top of my list for a solid go-to and here's why:
1) Bloodies
2) BLOODIES
3) blooooooodies!!!!!!!
I'm totally serious! For years, County Claire has been crushing it with that Bloody Mary--spicy or mild, they'll deliver you a solid with top-notch accouterments! But then they'll turn around and deliver it in a chalice fit for the qwane that you are!
Bloodies aside, here are a few other reasons why I like them:
-consistent quality food
-extremely friendly and knowledgeable bartenders and waitstaff
-casual atmosphere
-decent bar seating
-a free, albeit small, parking lot
Solid spot all around. And I'm serious--if you haven't tried their bloody, go do it. NOW! - Kris B.Lincoln, NE
10/19/20182 check-insOutstanding! Food, service, atmosphere, it's all here. Busier than expected for a week night and that was our first sign we had found something really good. The menu isn't broad and that's fine. The focus is quality. All our dishes were clearly made with care and fresh ingredients.
We enjoyed Cottage Pie, Shepherds Pie, (beef vs lamb) and both were flavorful, piping hot and piled with a mound of wonderful mash. Appetizer of Drunken Mushrooms was fine for what it was, sautéd mushrooms. Soup of the day ate more like stew.
In town for a little longer, I'm going to eat here again before I go. - John B.Chicago, IL14 friends22 reviews43 photos
6/23/2019So good we went back to the next meal. And the meal after that. First let's start with some recommendations. Go there for brunch on the weekend and get the Irish Grilled Toast. Imagine a French toast made with potato bread... that's the start. Then make a maple syrup with hot butter and add whiskey. OMG! I am tearing up just thinking about it.
Want to add alcohol to your alcohol and then add a beer to that alcohol? With the Irish grill toast, add a bloody moire and make it spicy. The Bloody Mary (with a twist) has basically a meal on top. And since you are mixing alcohol, it comes with a Smithwicks pony.
Service is good. Dinner is also good. The fish and chips are delicious! True Irish fare all over this place! - Joanna T.Wauwatosa, WI
1/14/2018We haven't been to County Clare in AGES, which is a crying shame. We both wanted something "cozy" for dinner and the Mister suggested County Clare - it was a good call.
As others have noted, parking will be hit or miss as the lot is reserved for hotel guests. We got lucky with a nearby space and headed in. The dining room is decorated in shades of green (of course) with stained glass accents. In cold weather there's a cozy nook with a nice fireplace. Of course, there's also a wonderful wood bar with plenty of Guinness on tap.
We both started with root soup ($4.50/cup) which is a blend of sweet potatoes, leeks and carrots. It's thick, comforting and slightly sweet - and served with a creme fraiche shamrock on top. They've had it on the menu forever for good reason - it's tasty.
For dinner, the Mister opted for Guinness pot roast ($16) and he said was was exactly what he wanted. I had a bite and thought the beef was tender and perfectly seasoned. Because I'm a Plastic Paddy, I picked corned beef and cabbage ($15) - County Clare's corned beef is really good. Just fatty enough and well spiced - it's served with potatoes, fresh cabbage and a warm slaw. I'm not the biggest fan of that last one because it ends up being just more cabbage. I'd rather have a more traditional veg like carrots or parsnips. Still - overall really good.
We ended with the seasonal creme brûlée which was "brandied Apple". Sadly, it tasted of neither Brandy nor apples, just a custard clearly cooked long before. It was cold in the middle and had a mealy texture - meh. A table next to us got carrot cake and that looked WAY better.
Service was fast and professional - we never lacked for anything and never had a dry glass. Prices are quite reasonable for a downtown-ish location and overall quality is very good.
We won't wait so long for a return visit, that's for sure. - Priyanka V.Elgin, IL0 friends11 reviews5 photos
2/11/2020I randomly stumbled across this place with a friend of mine on a Wednesday night. We decided to get some drinks and we're pleasently surprised by how cozy the ambiance was . We ordered some beers & mules from a super nice waitress. Overall we had a nice experience and definetely want to come back and try the food too!

6/21/2019Really wanted to love this place and write a glowing review. Unfortunately, the lowlights pretty much balanced out the highlights on our brunch visit.
I was intrigued by the full Irish breakfast. I love a full English breakfast, and this was quite similar - minus the baked beans. The black and white puddings were very flavorful, the rasher of bacon was really good, and the breakfast sausages were some of the best I'd ever had. And the brown bread was fantastic, as well. Unfortunately, while I had ordered my eggs over easy, they came scrambled - and overcooked and somewhat rubbery at that. That was a real downer for me.
My wife had the vegetable Irish frittata, and wasn't thrilled. It was just okay. I saw one huge piece of broccoli in her frittata and thought that it should probably have been a quarter of that size.
On the drink front, my wife enjoyed her pint-sized (by that, I mean served in a pint glass, not that it was tiny) mimosa. And I absolutely loved the Bloody Maire - a Bloody Mary with some Guinness and whisky added. It sounds strange, but it really worked. It also had a ton of interesting garnishes. Drinks were definitely the highlight of our visit.
Service, however, was not. It was okay up until the point where we placed our orders. Then both the food and the drinks seemed to take forever. But that wait paled in comparison to our wait to get our check. It wasn't like the place was super busy. There were probably a total of four full tables for almost twice that many servers - they're definitely not understaffed. But we saw a lot of servers standing around chatting with each other instead of paying attention to their customers. Not a good look... - Carolyn Y.Milwaukee, WI
6/9/2019Super cute authentic Irish restaurant. The happy hour drink specials are fantastic and it is always a st Patrick's day / Irish fest hot spot. They have an extensive and impressive tap list, some you can't find anywhere else.

3/10/20191 check-inUnfortunately, the full menu becomes available at 5pm and we were there earlier than that so we didn't get to really order full meals but the drinks and their jalapeño poppers are really, really good! Even better is their customer service - the bartender was so welcoming and friendly. I also really enjoyed the Irish decor but did not enjoy the fact that the parking lot is only for customers staying at the hotel.

4/13/2019Had the Friday fish fry here and it was delicious! The perfect amount of batter on the fish and the coleslaw was perfectly creamy. I got the sour cream and chive mashed potatoes instead of fries and they were amazing. It was real food, and prepared with care.
Our waitress was AMAZING. She made great recommendations and was attentive and visited the table the perfect amount of times. She was conversational but didn't linger.
Overall, very positive experience. Great place for food or to just have a beer. We will be heading back there soon to try their brunch! - Jan T.Milwaukee, WI71 friends102 reviews8 photos
12/23/2018Old world atmosphere and delicious food! I've never been here before, but will be back. There were 8 of us - everyone's food was awesome. Corned beef melts in your mouth, meatloaf delicious, and those garlic mashed potatoes!!! Awesome service by Alex. Even the vegetarians of our group were happy! Delicious! Desserts were also very good...recommend the cheesecake!
Street parking. Low lighting... noise level average. Can't wait to go back. - Stephanie S.Portland, OR
4/13/20182 check-insFood here was surprisingly good. We ordered garlic mushroom, mussels, meatloaf, Reuben, etc. everything tasted great.
There happened to be live performance too on the Thursday night we were there. The interior looks Irish and nice too, which was certainly a plus to the dining experience.
Don't know if our waitress was newer or happened to have a long day, but she was forgetful during the dining, and was not attending us when we had empty beer glasses and our jackets on for at least 15 minutes when we decided to step up ourselves. She was nice and all that, just a bit scattered in attention. Hopefully it's just an incident. - Caroline K.Milwaukee, WI185 friends105 reviews131 photos
10/30/20181 check-inThis place is as good as it gets for Irish food! We stopped in with around 14 people on a Monday night and the pub was able to accommodate our large group. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The food and service was excellent. I ordered the cottage pie and it was delicious!! The beef was tender and melted in your mouth, all the vegetables packed so much flavor, and the creamy mashed potatoes topped off the dish perfectly. You can definitely tell their dishes are made with fresh ingredients.

6/24/2019This is the very first place I came to when I moved to Milwaukee. There is a definite friendly, welcoming, Irish vibe and everyone is so nice. Our server was so helpful, she wrote down all her favorite places for me to check out in Milwaukee, since I was new to town. The chicken pot pie was phenomenal, as was the bread pudding. I will be back!

4/16/2019The best place for a Guinness. Hands down. Small, quiet bar. Decent food. Go for the Guinness
