What could I possibly say that isn't overwhelmingly positive about Cobble View... They couldn't change the weather? The beds don't have a vibrate function? No shag carpeting? :)
Seriously though, my girfriend and I just took a half-week vacation to the Berkshires, and we could not have chosen a better venue for our home base.
Using the Google Map of Western Mass and the search term "Bed and Breakfast," this one appeared to be more in-the-middle-of-nowhere than anywhere else, so we went for it. Indeed, it was true. Nestled in the middle of a gorgeous Berkshire valley, across from a post office and town hall, we increased the town's population by almost 1%... seriously... Tyringham only has about 300 residents!
Despite the remote feel of the Cobble View B&B (which is what we were looking for), it's close to everything in the Berkshires... a good central location for points north or south. There's even a challenging hiking trail right accross the street... within 40 minutes, you'll be overlooking the whole valley!
The bedrooms are nicely furnished and decorated... There are two sitting rooms, one of which has a television with Dish Network if you MUST get your fix :).
And let's not forget the breakfast portion of the B&B experience... awesome! The owner is a superb breakfast chef; we had three great meals to get us moving. Ask for the Apple Pancake Souffle or the Baked French Toast... you'll be glad you did... YUM!
Just one thing to know ahead of time: There is a dog and a cat on the premises. This is not a complaint by any means... after all, we never saw the cat, and the dog is VERY sweet and gentle... I just figured I'd mention it for those that happen to be severely allergic to pets.
Couldn't ask for more. Great accommodations, and a really reasonable off-season rate! Find yourself at the Cobble View too, and you certainly won't regret it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chris Z.Holyoke, MA16May 29, 2015
My girlfriend and I visited during the pre-Memorial Day off-season, and I think this led us to have a different experience than the other reviewers.
The bad: We arrived in the middle of the owners' garage sale, which led us to feel rather like we were intruding or unwelcome. Shower was ice cold for 5 full minutes before it was scalding hot. Breakfast was a small, cold buffet of store-bought muffins and orange juice that, although tasty, did not justify the $150/night tab. I personally felt like we were left alone when I would have liked to talk with the owners a bit more, since we were the only guests.
The good: Great location with a gorgeous and unique 1-hour hike directly across the street. Beautiful and comfortable home with a pleasant yard and awesome screened-in gazebo. Kind hosts and an extremely nice dog. Very, very comfortable bed--I slept like a rock.
Other notes: There is limited cell phone service in and around Tyringham. If you need picnic provisions there is a Big Y about 10 minutes up the road, as well as the Lee Premium Outlets for all your shopping needs. Lee itself is a beautiful little town with surprisingly good restaurants.
Overall, we had a positive experience but felt that we didn't get our money's worth. 3/5 stars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Van P.Cambria, CA45611Nov 29, 2010First to Review
We had a great stay here! The hosts are very nice.. and the breakfast was great. They catered to our vegetarian/gluten-free diets. There is a very nice and cute dog. Quaint and nice... Across from a great little hike.. A great getaway from NYC.
