We are new members to Club Rio Rancho, and love it so far. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, all the food we have had has been good, and the pool environment is great. The views from the restaurant and patio are the best way n the city.
I grew up at this club in the 80's and 90's and although the golf course is still in pretty bad shape, it looks like steps are being made to get it back to where it used to be. The tennis courts are in great shape and I've heard the tennis pro is top notch.
When I think of summer I think of hanging out at the club pool, and I'm hoping the kids love it just as much as I did when growing up.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anne L.Rio Rancho, NM914Oct 2, 2016
We've been to Club Rio Rancho several times. People are friendly and the view is phenomenal. Food is reasonably priced. Laid back atmosphere.
The potential for this course to be a boon to Rio Rancho is clear. What is sad is that for a country club the grounds are a wreck. In addition much of the golf course is in complete shambles. In some areas it is an eye-sore (off broadMoore). Not sure why this is, but it definitely needs either a cash infusion and/or serious work to fix the course. Whatever happens I wish them luck. The potential is there for this to be a great golf experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Howie K.Albuquerque, NM483418047918Oct 30, 2014
I stood agape at the panoramic view for the better part of five minutes. During the previous half hour I had been driving deeper and deeper into the Westside/Rio Rancho abyss, surrounded by carbon-copy homes and franchises, and finally I'd parked, wandered up the lawn and into the Triple Play lounge. Ascending a flight of stairs I looked east, and suddenly I could hardly blink. What an astonishing view.
This country club, which I had previously never heard of, has exceptionally deep roots in this burgeoning city, and the aged, tattered Cottonwoods on the property are a visual tale of its history. For the better part of 40 years the club was The Place To Be for residents out here, basically a members-only boys club that saw high times and then fell to ruin when the city refused to pay the water bill. Grass without moisture doesn't live very long in the high desert, neither do trees. Same went for the building itself.
Now under new management and following a hefty investment in the entire shebang, it's fair to state that the property owns the best view of the entire west side and the facility has enormous potential. Open to the public (aside from the Cigar Bar, which is killer), there's plenty of good golf, the food is solid, and the pool (that's right, and it's pretty incredible, to boot) offer some fantastic fun. It's still a long way from complete renovation, but the new guys are getting it in shape, fast. By late spring I'm betting this will be THE place to watch a Rio Rancho sunset on the Sandias.
What an icon. Who knew?Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Nancy L.Rio Rancho, NM201871Nov 14, 2014
I've been playing bridge at this locale for about 4-5 years - at least once a month and on some occasions three or four times a month. The renovation inside has been a good thing, and it's a lovely venue. However.
You knew there had to be a however, didn't you? There is one person in the bar area (mid-level) who seems to want to make everyone shout - he turns up the volume on the juke box (which no one is listening to) and bumps up the bass so that one cannot hear the others at your table speak. We were playing bridge there today, on the open mezzanine above the bar, and the juke box was literally shaking the glassware on the table in our area. We asked several times to have it turned down, as we couldn't hear each other; the sweet waitress complied, and the jerky guy turned it up again. There is no need to have the volume on that boom box turned up, as the people in the bar are watching one of the multiple televisions and football games and talking and laughing -- at the tops of their voices, since the boom box is so loud.
My not-so-humble opinion is that the thing needs to be dropped off the outside balcony onto the pavement below!!
Otherwise, the food has improved mightily with the change in ownership, and the Sunday brunch buffet served up to me the best omelet I have ever had a couple of weeks ago. Kudos for the brunch!! It's a winner!
Just get rid of that damned boom box!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lori Ann L.Albuquerque, NM183748Jun 13, 2017Updated review
This business has officially closed as of January 2017. They had to file bankruptcy and forced to shutter their golf course and restaurant.

This place is a disaster! Horrible service followed by sub standard food. They can't even cook a burger right, let alone make nachos worth eating. Owner spends his time drinking and hitting on every female that walks in. I don't give this place much longer to survive, don't waste your time going here! If it was run right, it's s gold mine waiting to happen, with beautiful views.

Club Rio Rancho has a great golf course and sports bar . Great drinks, food and music!!!!! It's nice to have a bar in Rio Rancho where they have a TouchTones jukebox and you can have an ice cold beer and listen to your favorite tunes!!!! And for those that don't like good music, beer and friends then stay away, those of us that love it will not miss you!!! For everyone else come join the Party!!!!

I had heard that the Club Rio Rancho was under new management and that good things were happening. I thought I would give the Sunday Brunch Buffet a try. I was met with a big Good Morning and immediately taken to a table. I was immediately impressed with live music playing and table after table of Breakfast Buffet choices, well laid out and very inviting. An Omelet Station with two chefs at the ready with 8 choices of ingredient was my first stop. Next a long long table filled with breakfast delights, both classical and inventive. I couldn't resist an Egg Benedict placed on a large slice of tomato instead of on an English Muffin. At the end of the tables stood a chef at a carving station, slicing roast beef.
For those who partake, an Absolut Bloody Mary with garnish station.
Add to all this an attentive server keeping my coffee cup full and a beautiful view of the Sandias!
Price for all this? $18.00 a person. I had a two for one coupon and made out like a champ!
This may become a regular Sunday thing!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Lynn M.Albuquerque, NM23927Mar 17, 2015
Came tonight for the St. Patty's corned beef and cabbage buffet. Three statios were set up: salad, desert, and the entree. The salad station was bare bones, but the desert station was much, much better, 5 different deserts and a luscious bread pudding. Every one who tried the bread pudding was loving the sauce. The entree station had 2 vegetables, rolls, lamb stew, red potatoes, and of course, the corned beef. The portion of corned beef (with the cabbage below), was 4 nice slices. Unfortunately, the beef started drying out, and really needed the au jus. The beef was tender, but i really couldn't taste the flavoring in the beef. The wait staff was attentive without being obnoxious. It was a nice evening out. And yes, the view of Albuquerque and the Sandias is amazing! !!!
