We've had quite a few family dinners here and normally have gotten good service here.
We usually have our favorites and our orders are always correct. Plus their cornbread is my favorite.
Also had lunches at the bar and the bartenders are always attentive. My lunch choice is mozzarella sticks and clam chowder.
Food, drinks, and service has been good majority of the time.
This location is one of the best I've been to. Kinda bummed they're now closed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I haven't ventured out too often due to the pandemic so I was looking forward to a Rib-eye. This is always my go to cut.
Firstly, they are no longer under ownership of Landry's. What does that mean to everyone else? Could be the ownership change or the pandemic but prices skyrocketed. They are now not just called Claim Jumpers but Claim Jumpers Steakhouse & Bar with a new selection of prime cut steaks.
Reason for the explanation is because I ordered a rare Prime cut 21oz Bone-in Rib-eye. The presentation on the sizzling plate was beautiful but it was splattering and smoking for a good 2 min before I could jump in. That caused my steak to cook for an additional 2 min. So my rare order turned into a medium to medium rare in some spots. Sigh. Sad face. Keep this in mind when ordering your steak.
This rating is purely based on the food. Service was excellent. Our server was warm, considerate, and friendly.

Cat we are so sorry the food did not meet your expectations. We take your feedback very seriously and never want you to leave unsatisfied. We hope you give us another chance because we would love the opportunity to make it right!
Feb 15, 2019Previous reviewI frequent this location every now and then because I haven't been disappointed with their service or food. I've gone here several times over the course of 5 years. Claim Jumpers typically serves huge portions. That's great for me because I don't have to cook the next day ;).
They aren't the first place that someone would usually think about for a nice steak but I always make my way back here. I always get the bone-in ribeye medium rare. They do offer boneless ribeye but I specifically choose bone-in because to me, it's a better cut.
Today was no different, I was pleased with my meal. I chose mash potatoes and cream corn with my ribeye. My friend chose the same with loaded mash potatoes and beans. The bread they give you initially is this wonderfully soft cheesy goodness. You get a choice of house salad or Caesar salad with your meal.
I wish I got my server's name. He was super courteous, friendly, and very happy! Smiles are contagious. Also, when you have their Landry's card, you get some nice extras here and there. The manager also stopped by and said hello and asked about our meal. What a nice extra touch! - Aug 8, 2021
Service was good
But food .....ummm yeah.... it's a no
Walked in and we were immediately greeted and walked over to our table
Waitress acknowledged us and told us she would be with us shortly No worries
We placed our order, grilled fish taco with a side of fries for me Friend ordered the Lobster BLT with a side of asparagus For drinks, I got a beer Friend ordered a CJ Punch
There was an issue with the original beer I ordered but waitress immediately replaced it, replacement beer was fine
Fish tacos were bland Had to look for the fish under all that cabbage The fries were SALTY ASF!! Low key not edible the house made salsa had zero taste
Friend only ate half of the lobster BLT said that it had too much Mayo but the asparagus was ok
Not impressed with the food at all unfortunately
However, venue was clean Hostess, waitress and server were friendly and efficient, parking was easyHelpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

Had a much better experience getting take out then dining in this time around. Thank you to corporate for sending a gift certificate to spend, although I wasn't expecting anything for my first review. Definitely didn't disappoint on service this time. All the employees who helped up today were friendly.
Today we ordered their Bag of Bones special for $71.50 which includes 30 Buffalo chicken wings, 2 whole racks of ribs, 2 pounds of French fries, and a pint of coleslaw and 12 celery sticks. Pretty decent pricing for that much food compared to the pricing of their regular meat entrees. Also ordered a kids meal with mini corn dogs fries and Mac and cheese for around $7.
The meat was definitely cooked well, both the ribs and chicken wings were fall off the bone! The fries did not stay crunchy by time we got them home but they were still tasty. The coleslaw seemed more like an Asian salad since the dressing tasted like sesame and ginger. They put the dressing on the side so it wasn't soaked in like a slaw usually is. The kids meal was a pretty big serving size. It came with 10 mini corn dogs, a pretty big bag of fries and you get to choose 1 more side. We picked Mac and cheese, there wasn't a whole lot of sauce on it. Was mainly plain noodles so probably skip on that next time.
Overall the bag of bones was a pretty good deal and the food was cooked fresh and hot! Glad to give them a 2nd chance and would order take out again from here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Sep 26, 2020Previous reviewHaven't been to Claim Jumper for a few years. Usually only come for their brunch. Came to celebrate my niece's birthday. Food was alright. The best item we got was the chicken pot pie which came out nice and hot, probably because everything is contained inside a pie crust. I'd come back for this item. Everything else was meh. The clam chowder was super salty and came out congealed on top like it had been sitting on the counter for a while. The 3 item meat plate with ribs, chicken and tri-tip also came out cold. The chicken was a bit dry and the Tri-tip was very fatty. The ribs weren't bad. The fish and chips as well as the bacon appetizer weren't very crunchy.
COVID protocols were ok. Outdoor dining of tables of 6 or less. Tables were spaced out. However it did not seem like they did a great job cleaning because there were empty shrimp tails under one of our chairs and a hoard of ants trying to eat them.
Service was also very slow. There's probably only 1 or 2 people in the kitchen due to COVID which is also why some items probably came out cold. I know restaurants like to bring the whole table's food out at the same time, but it would have been better if the food was brought out hot if other items weren't ready. It also took 45 minutes to an hour for our food to come out. They forgot to bring a soup for one person and the fruit for my niece's kids meal. They did however bring 2 slices of free cake for 2 birthdays. Except the cake was a bit dry and had to wait another 10 minutes for that to come out. If I came back, probably only get a pot pie to go. - William Y.Sunnyvale, CA955132590Sep 25, 2021Updated review
We stopped at Claim Jumper in Freemont and as we walked in, the hostess told us that this was there last day being open that they were closing there doors today. I asked why and she said that the landlord was raising the rent on the property and it was too much and have to close there doors.
This is sad with someone is out for money and don't care about the place. The virus has done so much to all places and being money hungry and causing people to loos there jobs and this time this should not happen.
I don't know who the landlord is but I think something should be done and don't think this is right.
Look on how many businesses and jobs have been lost.
I feel for the people there good health and good well in finding places to work at.
The food has always has been good every time we do come. With us living in Sunnyvale, we don't get out to this way but, when we do, we like eating here.
I'm hopping something happens to bring them back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 26, 2014Previous reviewWhat a nice place. The atmosphere inside is very nice, clean and restroom clean too. The staff are friendly and our server Bibiana very nice and sweet. Made sure if we needed anything and made sure we were happy.
Now for the food. OMG. It was fantastic and hot. For the price, pricy but very good. The amount of food covers the cost. Had to take home left overs.
Well be back when I come back this way. - Itzayana R.San Leandro, CA024Aug 16, 2021

Mmmm pretty disappointed. This place is absolutely huge and really nice on the outside so we have always been drawn to it and finally got the chance to check it out on a weekday evening for dinner.
The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because our server was actually nice, attentive, and helpful when we had questions about the food.
My fiancé got a beer and I got the ancho bloody mary. The ancho bloody mary had a delicious piece of candied bacon on top which I really enjoyed. The drink itself was extremely strong. It tasted like straight vodka with a hint of tomato. It definitely did the job, that's for sure.
Now onto the food. I was extremely disappointed with the dishes. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza. The chicken was all dark meat and bloody. Almost every bite I had was extremely chewy. The pizza wasn't fully cooked in the middle and it was so doughy that all of the toppings slid off when I picked up a slice to eat. My fiancé ordered the sliders and the meat was almost fully pink. The sliders were very tasteless and you could only taste the buns. The shoestring fries that came with the burger were good.
Overall, we were highly disappointed in the quality of food, we will probably not be returning.

Juan was our server today, and service was excellent even though he had a large area to himself.
The food, per usual was great. They are now offering the impossible burger, which was nice to see on the menu. I also love the salads, and how I can substitute those for fries without a charge.
My daughter ate her entire meal, which equally, anyone with children knows how picky toddlers can be.
Overall it was great!

Feb 21, 2014Previous reviewMy husband and I decided to come here for a date night (our Friday ritual).
Every time I've come to this location, it's fairly packed. Generally a 10-15 minute wait. Also I love that they have so many booths, I'm a booth kinda gal- and I'd much rather enjoy my meal in a booth than at a table with chairs. Although the chairs here are large and cushioned.
The staff is always super friendly and very quick with refills. I think that's my number one pet peeve- an empty glass. Our server was Omar, and he was quick and fantastic. He was very friendly, quick to check on us once our food arrived and never let our glasses go empty.
Now for the food:
I'm obsessed with claim jumper salads! They are so ginormous and fairly priced. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad, which is HUGE! I ask for it with no dressing and pack half of it away to go, then proceed to dress the rest and chow down. My husband is very predictable, and went for the black tie chicken pasta. He enjoyed it, but he enjoys anything with cheese, pasta and chicken.
Overall, we had a wonderful time, we were able to sit and catch up on our week at work and unwind with a nice beer! Also they have an amazing happy hour!
See ya next time!

I have refrained from leaving negative reviews for any business during the pandemic but I must say something this time. Although the wait was horrific, I am not commenting on that aspect because I realize that restaurants are just starting to re-open.
First - the men's bathroom has three sinks. Two of the three sinks were out of hand soap. I immediately notified an employee who said they would tend to the matter. An hour later? Still no soap in two of the dispensers. Really? During a pandemic you can't keep the soap dispensers full?
Second - the food. My son had a burger and he said it was decent. I ordered the tri-tip dip. I knew it was probably a mistake when I ordered it.......and it was. I think the sandwich had tri-tip jerky on it and both the meat and the au jus were so salty it was almost inedible. The ONLY reason I ate it is because I was starving. And the side salad that came with the sandwich? So-so. I guess okay for some pre-packaged salad mix you'd get at Raley's.
Two sandwiches, one drink, $40. I won't be back. Ever.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Five stars for the service and the flexibility the waiter/manager showed for the Landry's Select Rewards.
The food was good as well.
The Happy Hour sampler was awesome... the buffalo wings was spicy; mozarella sticks were good, the potato skins were okay, Onion rings were good.
Kids menu: Mac and Cheese was fine (wish there was more cheese)... the fruit choice was great. Fries were good.
Farmhouse burger... good, wished there was some defining flavor (beef was awesome... but needed something unique to add to it: i was hoping the egg would do that). Spicy Thai slaw was awesome side... must try. Has a sweet and spicy flavor.
