Give Amy at the front desk a raise. She is wonderful. Always asks appropriate questions and follows up when necessary. My rescue pup has had some tough flea problems and she went over all steps/suggestions with me to get her fixed.
I also loved the vet here. She was patient with my pup and really went above and beyond to gain her trust before treating her.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David M.Dallas, TX185141Nov 3, 2023
I have been & vet was good but it's been over a year ago.
Cost is Not the priority when it comes to your beloved pet's health in my opinion and most vets are willing to work with you on payment.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kaitlin M.Overton, Birmingham, AL1213Dec 12, 2023Updated review
I've used CityVet Oaklawn three times (2 annual/bi-annuals and once for a hot spot) for my shepard mix. My first visit was just ok, my dog has serious anxiety at the vet and does not do well if restrained, but the tech and vet insisted on restraining him and it took a while to calm him down so they could do his annual. However, today I had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Ellen Tunnell (and I do not remember the tech's name but they were lovely) and she was great! She listened to my requests and it was one of the smoothest and least stressful visits we've had in 4 years. She also did a consult and allowed me to ask questions and gave advice on supplements and medications. She has great personable skills and you can tell she loves her job and cares for her patients. Would definitely recommend her!!

The did have me put a muzzle on my dog because he was scared of them touching him which I did not care for because he isn't a bite risk but I do understand. They were able to calm him down with lots of pets and then proceeded to do an exam and vaccines while he was getting belly rubs and ear scratches. Dr. Anthony answered all my questions and gave me peace of mind about his hotspot. They also sent me a text the following day to check on my pet. It was a pricey visit but for everything I had done I do think it was fair! They also have payment plans that offer discounted services.

I don't think you can give zero stars or I would. DO NOT GO HERE.
My post was too long. Please see photos.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Crystal P.Dallas, TX04Mar 25, 2023
Dr. Ellen Tunnell is the best vet around! Her bedside manner is unmatched and she is so incredibly thorough with her physical examinations and her explanations. She really wants her pet parents to understand the condition we're facing and WHY she is making certain recommendations. Another thing that makes her a phenomenal provider is that she also asks us, what we think of the plan and takes our opinion and desires into account, after all, we are a team.
I know that Tia, Tamera and Chuck are in the best hands with Dr. Tunnell. Wherever she goes, we will follow (although we hope she never ever leaves). The city of Dallas is so fortunate to have a vet like Dr. Tunnell.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lilian A.Irving, TX82414Feb 8, 2023
We have been bringing our mini Aussie Dallas here for over 3 years - since he was a puppy! The staff is ALWAYS super accommodating to our last minute appointments when our dog has been ill. They send us email reminders when our dog is due for his vaccinations which is super helpful with busy lives. Thanks for always being there for us and keeping our pup healthy and happy! Your staff rocks

If I could give 0 stars I would. Do NOT take your pet here. The nurse who took my dog's information was disinterested and incompetent. After telling her that my dog wasn't eating and giving details, she literally asked me "Is he eating ok?"
She also was rough with my dog and did not have a good manner. The vet Dr. Anthony was young and also did not have a good manner with my dog and really did not address my concerns. I will never return here, and it is also very expensive for sub par care.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anthony G.Las Vegas, NV45218Jul 24, 2023
Not a fan! Lack of communication, they got an attitude because they entered the wrong number, they never told me I had to pick up meds for my pup, the receptionists were not friendly at all! Definitely looking for another vet

Hi Anthony, thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. It was an uncommon instance and we’ll do better in the future.
We can’t fix the past but you have my personal commitment to improve the way our staff serves every customer. Until then, please accept my sincerest apologies on behalf of everyone on the team.

The dr. Was great and very informative. Front staff was very unprofessional and acted like I wasn't going to pay.
The payment process was explained to me millions of times and everything seemed about the money.
One girl shooed me away as if someone else was much more important. Staff needs training if they want to thrive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lizz J.Arlington, TX483218Feb 17, 2023
I don't think there are enough words to express my gratitude to Dr. Effie, Tavin & Amanda!
Tavin called me the day prior to go over all of the information and put me at ease. He had no problem going over every one of my concerns and explaining their process. When I arrived this morning, everybody was bright eyed and bushy tailed. They were all happy to see me and my Morrison despite it being 7 AM! Amanda checked us in, she was wonderful. Also extremely helpful and happy to answer any questions I had as she went over all of the check in paperwork with me.
I felt like I mattered. She was aware of my concerns and addressed them a second time. She let me know Dr. Effie would call me before the treatment and keep me updated.
I quite honestly didn't really expect her to call me as I know she is a fairly busy doctor. To my delight, Dr. Effie personally called me! All I can say is I have never been so impressed with the amount of professionalism in a veterinarian. I, hands-down would never think twice on trusting her with any of my small animals. She is what the industry standard should strive to achieve. I felt like my Morrison mattered to her, and her team.
Thank you so much.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
