Chop Suey

This is specifically for the House Party event and all of the staff for the night.

Growing up I always envisioned a place where I could hear some of my favorite house songs and has a fusion of hip-hop. The Dj plays a mix of Kaytranda, Dr.Fresch and old school hip-hop.

Definitely a unique crowd. Everyone is dressed in a way that stands as their own individual aesthetic but honestly, with Seattle's generic club scene it's incredibly refreshing. It doesn't feel like a club in the sense that everyone is actually dancing and intoxicated just enough to have a good time.

I have had one account where I had to get aggressive towards a drunk guy that would not leave my friend alone. One of the bouncers noticed and came to check on us which is UNHEARD OF. I have not seen him working there since but their head of security, Gabe, is so kind and easy to work with. I would feel comfortable coming to him about any kind of issue I have.

Overall, House Party at Chop Suey makes Mondays suck less. It is always full, has two bars with professional and friendly bartenders and incredibly chill, fun, atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I were planning on spending our four year anniversary downtown. I had tickets to see Surfers Blood a band I have enjoyed since 2014. Instead I was blocked from entering because i didn't have my vaccination card. Nothing on the Ticketmaster site indicated that I needed to bring it and even though I've been vaccinated since May your 'Chief of Security' would not work with me. I am now trying to get a refund for my tickets and salvage my anniversary. Your customer service was atrocious at a time when customers are just getting used to getting out of the house.

I cannot comment on the food or daytime experience at this establishment, but what I can say is that the late-night scene is classic capital hill dance party! With a "Be Dirty. Dance Clean." slogan, Chop Suey really delivers. The music was all-consuming with volume, as it should be! The bar was fairly easy to navigate - and don't worry friends, they got White Claws. Thankfully, the whole venue is essentially a large black-box, so no escaping the dance party! We did pay a cover, but totally worth it. Have fun! #bedirtydanceclean

It was my first time at this venue. I loved the bar with all the windows and the decor inside. Just random couches and chairs placed nicely, it worked well with the venue! It was a decent sized venue, not small but not that big. The floor was separated from the bar, there were couches you can sit on. All in all a nice place for a show. I love industrial type venues with pipes along the ceiling. The sound was great, the security was great, everyone was kind and I had no issues. Easy access to the bar and there's a kitchen for burgers and fries right in front of you. There's plenty of parking and parking garages around the venue. I'll definitely be back for future shows!

We have been coming here for shows and dance parties since the place opened. We are coming back for a show this weekend. It's a fun venue for emerging bands and we have seen some awesome shows here.

However:
There is a platform in the back bar with a small fireplace on it. The interior designer used old railroad ties to make the platform. The back bar now reeks of creosote, the smell of which even leaks out into the main bar. The creosote smell will flavor anything you drink or eat and maybe even give you a headache. Stay out of the back bar entirely.

Fave venue personally. Has a neighborhood feel and a diverse range of music every night.

FUCK THIS PLACE. their staff are fucking rude! I go in, wait in line. My friend pays for me so were told we can go to the other line so we all step over the line to go in that one and the security girl comes down and cussed me out, and called me a bitch on my fucking birthday.  If you wanna get cussed out then you should come here. Doesn't seem like I'm the only one either.

I live in Portland now, so coming back home to Seattle is often a heartbreaking occurrence with the city becoming more and more bland and all the places that i used to love disappear or become Amazon-ed out.  But when i am back in Seattle for weekends, I've noticed Chop Suey is the only place I think that has actually improved over the last 5 years and stayed true to the actual feel of what Seattle actually is (sorry to anyone who is is more used to hanging out at more corporate friendly spots in SLU and Redmond who disagree) When i am back home the staff is always really nice even when it's busy, and the sound system is amazing and I love the weekend dance nights and the shows. This place will have a soft spot for me and I am glad it's on of those last places hanging

I love this place for 90s night on Friday! There is good music and vibes. That night, they had Mean Girls playing on the projector and balloons with "so fetch" on them. I loved the decorations! There is a lounge area that had plenty of seats for me to chat with my friends when the dance floor got too hot. Would totally recommend!

This was my first visit and probably my last.

$5 cover fee.. super muggy and hot.. it was not pleasant!

The drinks tasted worse than "rubbing alcohol" as some people like to say. Blech, not even worth it .. at all.

I could barely breathe inside, had to constantly step out.. and just no bueno.

I really did not vibe well with the people either. Kept bumping into me with their sweaty naked bodies and ugg, no thanks.
