Absolutely love this studio as my son has been here for about a year at two separate locations.
I love the confidence, humility, and integrity that my son has learned to apply to his life through his practice with Grand Master Connelly.
Amazing studio, expert instruction- highly recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This made my day, Jen. It's been a pleasure having your son in class over the past year and watching him grow in skill and confidence. I appreciate you taking the time to write this review, and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Its been 5 years since my last review. I'm now a second degree back-belt and instructing kids---my kids and their schoolmates.
Not about fighting, but about challenging yourself and becoming a better person-physically and mentally.
They also teach kid-power----not being bullied, being safe, being aware.
Great place to send your kids, or for yourself.
I've trained at multiple Connelly's Academy locations. Each location has different classes for specific levels of ability and ages. So I recommend all of themHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks so much for this wonderful review, George. It's been a privilege to work with you over the years and watch you advance to the Black Belt and Program Leader you are today. Thank you for your time and effort.

I've taken three weeks of Tae Kwon Do at this location. The studio door is hidden down a long hallway, in the back, near the loading dock. Don't let this scare you off. Just ring the bell for the front door buzzer, walk to the end of the hall, through the back door, down the little steps and into the loading dock area. Directly to your left is a door that leads to the Dojang - there is a sign on the door.
To me this is a family style dojang. They aren't some money grubbing corporation focused on how much they can charge you for every patch you receive or how many classes they can get you to take.
I feel like the Chon-Ji dojang is a family of black belts that teaches their students the art and discipline of Tae Kwon Do. They volunteer (!!!) their time to teach the students as part of their service to the art. The teachers I've met are very kind and very committed. Every class is well balanced in the curriculum. They teach some moves, practice them, I'm a white belt so then while everyone else is doing this choreographed practice thing I practice my basic punches and kicks, then we practice more moves and then we work on more practical self defense movements, meditation followed by sharing. It's wonderful.
The teacher is a black belt and leads all the segments of the class, but there are students of every level in each class. There are the little guys (like me) with their white belts doing the same kick after kick and the black belts doing the sparring, working on more advanced moves. Then all of these different levels working together. The higher belts teaching the lower belts new moves and in that process the lower belts help the black belts clean up their basics... Every one shares their experiences no matter how long or short they've been practicing and the teacher keeps everyone in-line and on track!
I *HIGHLEY* reccomend this place if you're looking for a REAL martial arts studio, focused on the art and discipline without the corporate push to make money.
PS: You can just drop into a class. It's not like a dance studio where they have tracks and class levels and "sessions". You go. You learn. It's awesome :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Gary V.Skokie, IL1126Jan 16, 2013
This is my home away from home. It's a journey from my house but a journey I gladly take every day. I do both Hapkido and Taekwondo. This has been a welcoming place for all who go. If you are looking for the best place to do Hapkido or Taekwondo, look no further!!!!

I've been away from TKD for about 12 years. I was looking for a good place to begin rebuilding my skills, a dojang where I wouldn't be required to start from scratch, but where I could get back into the swing of things, so to speak. This is the perfect place for it! I'm a TKD guy, but they also offer Hapkido. The TKD classes range from very kid/family-friendly, to more one-on-one instruction based on your skill set. The study is serious, but non-aggressive. Whether you're considering TKD or Hapkido for the first time, or returning (like me!) after a long hiatus, this is a REALLY good place to start. I have felt so welcome, and under good care between the instructors.

Great place to train in martial arts. Limited contact which keeps you safe-but they train hard-to get you fit. Excellent instructors & curriculum-competitive rates.
