We came here for lunch and we ordered 2 lunch combo meals. I ordered the BBQ short rib and beef tofu soup, which I highly recommend. The short rib was very flavorful and the soup was perfect for today's chilly weather. My friend ordered the pork bulgogi and kimchi tofu soup. The pork bulgogi was pretty good with the onions, but the kimchi soup was more sour than other kimchi soups that I've had before. I would say that the Banchan appetizers weren't the best that I've tried, but it wasn't the main part of the meal anyway. Overall a good lunch stop!

TL;DR - Absolutely worth a try.
The last time when I was here was a few years ago. This time, there are not many people in the restaurant. Three tables, including us, and only one waiter. The lack of customers and servers got me very concerned.
We order a Seafood and Beef Tofu Soup and a Seafood Pancake. After that first bite of seafood pancake and the first sip of tofu soup, all the concerns mentioned above have gone away.
My biggest complaint is the size of the soup. The diameter of the bowl is way less than the size of my palm. The bowl is probably only 4.5 inches in diameter. If you need a reference, use your phone. The bowl diameter is perhaps smaller than your phone's screen size.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 7218109Dec 12, 2022Updated review
Food is consistently delicious. It's authentic old-school Korean. I think the hole-in-the-wall vibe is off putting for some people but to me that means the food is going to be that much tastier. Why should I spend money on flashy decor when they can keep food costs reasonable?
My regular order: tripe soup mild. Of course it comes with banchan.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Feb 18, 2020Previous review100% Korean here. The food reminds me of home cooking. Restaurant is definitely simple in decor and looks vacant at times from the outside but I always look forward to the food here. Banchan is always good and they'll give you fill ups if you ask. I always get the barley tea instead of water. Helps with digestion and it's caffeine free.
When your meal is done, help yourself to a cappuccino or some soft serve vanilla ice cream (has the texture of ice milk if any of you know what that is...I'm looking at you, U.Va. grad!). - Nov 24, 2022
We enjoyed the food from here. The quinoa bibimbap was something new that I have never tried at any Korean restaurant anywhere. If you are in the area and your adventurous you should give it a try! The vegetarian pancakes were crispy and freshly made. We also loved the hot corn tea they served us.

We had a great dining experience at Cho Dang Tofu House!
We came here on a Thursday evening at about 7:30 pm. There is a chain link fence surrounding the property and the parking lot and building look like they've had better days.
We walked in and were immediately greeted by the only employee that I saw the entire time I was here. We were seated immediately and provided menus. There were three other tables with customers sitting at them at the time. I was actually amazed by how welcoming and customer focused our server was. She was also quick and efficient. There was nothing fancy about the appearance of the dining area or the decor, but I just knew the food had to be great. I know there was at least one other employee in the restaurant because I heard someone cooking the food, but we never saw any other employee. Kudos to our hard working server!
R ordered bulgogi and I ordered short ribs. Our meals came as a combo, and we both ordered the soon tofu soup (hot pot). In no time at all, our server brought us six small bowls of banchan to share: diced pickled potatoes, bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled cabbage, spicy pickled cucumbers, and seaweed, all of which we could request refills. The banchan here was all great tasting and full of flavors. A few minutes later, we were brought roiling boiling hot pots of soon tofu soup and two raw eggs which we cracked into our soup, stirring quickly to break up the egg and preventing it from cooking into large chunks. The soup was tasty and smooth, and had large chunks of semi-firm tofu. The grilled meats, served on hot cast iron plates, smelled fantastic as they arrived at our table. My short ribs were served on a bed made of ribbons of onion, and all of it was sizzling. I had to move the short ribs off of the plate because I didn't want them dried out from the quick charring process. The ribs were obviously marinated, and the slightly sweetened soy flavor carried on throughout all of the meat. I was saddened as I ate the last of the short rib meat. *sigh*
This meal was very filling and so, soo, sooooooo delicious! Great food and great service - they were so worth the prices!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - May 17, 2022
We got in super late and we were offered great hospitality. They served us very quickly and I thought their tofu soup and bimbimbap was delicious. I remember in the side dishes the potato was not sweet but maybe I'm just used to eating it prepared with sugar marinade but all the side dishes tasted fresh and the hot tofu soup stayed steaming until the last bite. The bimbimbap bowl was hot the entire time we were there, I was impressed how well it kept it's heat and my food warm.

Haven't been here in ages but came back recently and really enjoyed my kimchi jijae. I also got the combo with spicy chicken which was delicious but made the meal slightly pricey in my opinion. Service is friendly. This will be my new old goto spot for tofu soup on buhi. Oh the free ice cream machine is down due to covid but the free coffee is still available for you to enjoy yum

Food is delicious and service is always great. I also like their side dish a little more than some of the other places.

We have been coming here for years and this restaurant is our favorite. We always order the combination of stew and bbq. The portions are generous and filling. I add the fried fish because I love it so much. The gentleman who runs the establishment is friendly and he is so great.

I was so hungover the day I went. This was literally the only thing that saved my life. Granted.. the tofu soup could use a little bit more flavor but everything was really good. I went for lunch and everything I got was only around $20. The banchan was good but the kimchi kinda tasted like soap.. other than that I enjoyed everything. The owner was very nice and the food came out really fast.
