China wok has been a staple of Main street Buckhannon for as long as I have lived here. I have never tried the buffet, but will get take-out about once a month. Their soup is good, BaoBao Platter - surprisingly good.

Five or more years ago, I ordered a pint of beef and brocolli, where the beef had a hint of being spoiled. I could not even eat a bite. I don't think I went back for two years.

Johnny and his family operate this restaurant from 9a-11p every day. Day in and day out. The appearance of the restaurant is tired - I bet they are too.

Not much enthusiasm or passion is seen in the cooking. Standard fare meals with standard flavors. Sometimes you have a craving and it hits the spot.

I have noticed that if Jonny makes my meal, rather than his wife, it often tastes better. Fried items aren't ever soggy from him and portion sizes are minisculely better.

The owners of this restaurant work hard, but man....I think they're just burned out. The best thing they could do is take a week long vacation twice a year. They need a revitalization of passion, and it could easily be a 4/5 star restaurant. The talent is there, but I feel it is being wasted.

This is a traditional generic Chinese food restaurant as far as I can tell. Place was empty when I got there on a Friday night. There was a young child doing his homework, which I think is the son of the owners.
Otherwise no one else was in the place except for me and the kitchen staff.

I've only ordered once from this restaurant and I ordered to go. I ate really late because I had worked a very long day and I was very hungry and did not wanna wait an hour before I was able to get home to try to make something.

I ordered four items. Two appetizers and two main courses.

The worst dish I ordered was the fried scallops. I don't believe they were actually scallops. I think they were some type of fish substitute that was shaped to look like scallops. They tasted absolutely horrible. I was starving at this point, I only ate a few of them. I kept on trying to decide if they were real or not. My determination they were not scallops.

The scallops were one of the two appetizers I ordered. The second appetizer was the barbecue chicken sticks. They were palatable, and I was driving home so that's why I was eating the appetizers on my way home. I ate all the barbecue chicken sticks. Honestly the food kind of tasted funny. I'm assuming cheap oil. I ate all the barbecue chicken sticks on my way home.

When I got home I tried the meals, the meals were very well proportioned there was a lot of food in the two dishes I ordered.

I ordered egg foo young with shrimp. It was really well cooked but it didn't really taste excellent. It wasn't as bad as the fried scallops. But it was rather greasy and I'm working at eating healthier.

The second main course I ordered was the Mushu chicken. Which is a very healthy dish because it's mostly vegetables and chicken. This was pretty good but again I think the oil they use is very cheap. I actually worked as a wok cook at a good earth, or several good earth restaurants . And I know what kind of oil you should use in a wok.

I don't believe I will ever eat here again, but if I do it will be basic foods like cashew chicken, that probably would be good. I definitely would avoid the fried scallops or whatever they are. I'm eating a very low calorie diet currently cause I am working out very hard and attempting to get lean. Build muscle and lose fat kind of thing.

I know these people work really hard and they were very very nice. And I might be a little snob when it comes to food. So for most people this would be a good restaurant to eat at. I wanted something that was fairly healthy and had a lot of protein and vegetables. One of my dishes came with fried rice. Which was basic fried rice and it was fine. And I had the wonton soup that came with one of my dishes. Which I have not tried yet.

This place may be right for you. So don't just trust my opinion. Sorry I did not take any pictures. But again the portions were pretty darn good and the prices are reasonable. I got three fortune cookies, and I ate one.
It was stale, so I threw out the other two.

We have eaten here a few times (via takeout) during COVID-19, while our favorite Chinese place in the area is closed. We have been able to order and pay over the phone, then walk in to pick up our order.

We have never eaten in, though the inside looks orderly. The new COVID specific sanitation set up at the front window where you pay is impressive. The owner is consistently wiping down and sanitizing, even during the two minutes it takes me to walk in for our order.

I get vegetables with garlic sauce and white rice. My husband likes black pepper chicken. Our boys like General Tso chicken. Everything is fresh and hot, and very good. We do not care for the crab flavoring in the wontons, nor is the fried rice anything to write home about. The lomein is delicious, and the white rice has a wonderful, sweet, subtle flavoring that I can't decipher.

I'm not sure if this would be a regular stop for us during "normal times," but I'm glad we found this option for takeout during COVID and the food is a solid four out of five rating.

Love the food here the only problem I've had is that I believe they've changed the way they make the noodles because they used to be GREAT but now they don't have much flavor, other than that the food here is amazing

My grandmother lives a 10 minute walk from this place. Almost every time we visit, we walk to eat here. I've waited a while to write this review but... better late than never, right! The chicken lo me in is always the way to go if you are an unadventurous eater like me. And get a small white rice for the next day. The sweet and sour chicken is very good and is always very hot. The general sos chicken is also very delicious and they aren't stingy with the serving sizes. Recently... I've really been into dumplings. I got them here and they were delicious!!! They come with a delicious sauce has only got a small kick to it. They have a thick dumpling rapper and a flavorful filling! Delicious. Will definitely be back and definitely have the dumplings again!

We came 2 weeks ago to China Wok and ordered chicken chow fun. This had many onions and other vegetable with chicken and an abundance of noodles. It had delicious flavors and was very good. We also got sweet and sour chicken. It came with chicken, rice, and a big bowl of sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was crispy and the sauce was DELICIOUS. Out of 5 stars, I would give it a 5.

Order takeout here all the time. Always comes earlier than expected, and the portions are huge for the price

New owner Karen does a very good job made our food to special order and it is always very good. Eat in or carry out they even deliver! She is very pleasant and remembers customers names. I consider this Best Buy for dinner in town fast hot good and enough left over for a second meal.
