This restaurant closed after COVID.
It is now the Green Turtle Bar Sports Bar and Grille.
I have no idea how it is now, haven't been there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 12, 2011Previous reviewI had not been in Chevys for about 20 years - and the last time was in Germantown, MD. So I saw this one being built last March and was interested in trying it out. We didn't go for drinks, hubby and I went for the food, on a weekday during lunch.
Service was fast, we got our chips/salsa within a minute of sitting down. The chips and salsa were great, chips were very crispy and warm, salsa had a bit of heat and quite smoky - very tasty. We ordered the fajitas and the table-side guacamole - both were amazing. The fajitas were a good skirt steak (like they are supposed to be) and came with a plethora of fixins, all of which were great (I am a fan of the rice which was very tomato-y and authentic according to my Texan husband) and the beans were also good. The guacamole was wonderful being freshly made at table-side - you choose what goes in.
Our server was personable and friendly and we never had to ask for refills.
All in all, I would recommend this restaurant for a wonderful lunch at a decent price. - Alonzo M.Suitland, Suitland-Silver Hill, MD2673112Nov 26, 2023
The food was good and the service was excellent but the ambiance was delightful but I think it's closed.

This is actually my favorite Mexican chain restaurant but it closed down in Jersey, so each time I'm in The DMV area, I stop by.
I came at the top of happy hour and it was pretty empty at the bar. I waited around 10 mins for a server to show up. I think she was by herself so she was waiting on the customers in the bar area and the tables by the bar.
About 10 mins later 2 couples showed up so I was no longer at the bar. My bartenders name was Elizabeth and she was awesome. I already knew what I wanted because I order the same thing always and she was ready to serve. My food and drinks arrived quickly. Elizabeth was nice, moved quickly and was friendly. She literally had all of us at the bar in one huge convo together and we were all complete strangers, it was great. We all began talking and laughing.
The manager was there too, you can tell he wasn't too friendly. Another server came in out of uniform and he snapped on her in front of us. I kind of felt bad. You can tell when he's around, they vibes change. He wouldn't let her clock in due to her uniform so she sat at the bar on her phone and he made her get up and leave. It was uncomfortable. You can tell the staff is a little uncomfortable around him, he's a bit uptight.
Anyways, great food, fast service, cheap prices and Elizabeth will surely have a smile.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 41138389Jan 17, 2019
We went here for the first time last night. Upon entrance we were greeted and promptly seated. Cute decor and signs displaying drink specials were everywhere. Margaritas are the highlighted right?!
Our waiter was new but did his best. Kindly answered the questions he could and asked for assistance if he didn't know. Wednesday night all day $4 margaritas and $8 grande. We ordered a peach and regular flavored margarita. The drinks were not the best we've ever had but they were OK.
The food was delicious. I had the fajita salad which was freshly prepared and tossed at our table prior to service. My husband had a fajita meal as well (I forgot the name of the dish), and was a well portioned meal.
I'm glad we took a chance and went because it was better than expected from comments of other Yelpers.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 13, 2019
Never disappoints! The hub and I come here for happy hour from time to time and it's always yummy. Bryanna is the best bartender. She's attentive, kind and makes delicious drinks! We love the margaritas and mojitos. For small bites we always get the nachos grande with extra chicken... no guacamole and the wings... old bay and spicy. Yum yum yummy!

I ordered fish tacos and when the waiter told me I could do salmon or tilapia I almost fainted. A salmon taco is the best thing ever, as I am an avid salmon eater. I also got 2 large mango flavored daiquiris with sugar on the rims. I love sweet drinks so i cannot taste the alcohol lol especially tequila. The service was a bit slow on the bar side but our waiter was great, nice Jamaican fellow.

This place was ok.. a friend and I wanted to try their happy hour drinks, it was okay it's not something to get excited about.
Food did not taste fresh, and it was lukewarm.. Guacamole was cold and seemed as if it's been stored in the refrigeratorHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 12, 2018Updated review
My second visit to Chevy's was awesome! I tried the crispy chicken flautas which came with black beans, rice, sweet corn tamalito, mango salsa, jalapeño jelly, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and a spicy sauce. Everything was so, so delicious. The flautas are like cheesy egg rolls. I was also a huge fan of the sweet corn tamalito. It was like a moist, sweet cornbread with pieces of real corn. I will order this dish again and again. To top it off, our server was extremely sweet and friendly. My only critique is that the food could have been served a little warmer.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 13, 2017Previous reviewThis was my first time at Chevy's. We came here for a family gathering, and although it wasn't anything special, it was decent. I ate chips, salsa, table-side guac, and a salsa chicken quesadilla. Everything was homemade and fresh, which I really appreciate. However, I regret not getting the chicken flautas (other people got them and they looked tasty). The quesadilla was really skimpy on filling and it needed cheese. The whole point of a quesadilla is supposed to be the cheese... So why was I struggling to find any? Will I seek a Chevy's out again? No, but I won't necessarily be devastated if I end up at one sometime in the future.

My second visit here in 2019. I ordered the fajita tacos from the seasonal menu. The tacos were tasty. I ended my lunch with fried ice cream which can be shared.

We normally never come here but I'm typing as we sit waiting for Queso for now 20 minutes which was suppose to come out with more chips. We haven't seen the waiter in this 20 minute period and I'm not exaggerating the time either. There may be 5-6 tables here. This wasn't the first time we've been here but WILL be the last at this shit dump rest assure. Beyond poor customer service.
Update after 22 minutes the queso finally comes out and no reason given of what took so long. With the hard crust on the cheese. An didn't ask us for any reviled when they were needed. Food came out barley warm . Complete shit dump of a place. Not sure who the management is but you'll be going out of business soon enough with this poor service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 29, 2012Previous reviewGood overall experience not my first time here. Friendly waiter an clean location. A bit spicy as I got a Burrito. Chips & cheese dip is all I need!
