The owner is very helpful in helping you find a skateboard and sells really good wheels and other things. The stuff there isn't bad.

I love Cheapskates.
This small East Memphis skateboard shop carries a ton of decks, shoes, clothes and wheels. The staff is crazy helpful and they know their stuff.
I'm a derby girl, and they carry Reidell skates, wheels, bearings and pads. Their name doesn't lie, either - I bought a set of extremely low maintenance bearings this afternoon for $25.
My only complaint is that their hours can be a little restricting. I work downtown, so getting there by 6:30 can be a problem, especially if I need some last minute gear for practice on a week night.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Irene B.Cincinnati, OH238598102Oct 28, 2015
The shop had apparently stopped carrying skates a few years ago because another local business started catering to derby girls. Since that store is no longer open Cheapskates is thinking about carrying roller skates again.
He went above and beyond to help me out and even called up Riedell and placed an order for some skates for me. He was really friendly and helped me out a ton. Answered any questions I had as a newbie and never once tried to sell me anything I didn't need.
Prices are great. Owner is super friendly and goes out of his way to make his customers happy. I love supporting local businesses and this is a great one to support. Don't let the address deter you. This is a kickass store.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Mike H.Cleveland, OH732848May 5, 2016
Oh man. I bought my first (real) skateboard here back in 1996. The deck had a sweet McJesus logo. I still have it, even though I'm too old and fat to use it without breaking anything. Old-man-skate is always a bad idea.
I also remember my brother being kicked out of the store for wearing patchouli. Serves him right. Hippy.
This place was awesome, and while I have moved away and haven't set foot inside for a few years... I look forward to coming back the next time I'm in Memphis, even if our Cuban cigar deal is probably expired.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samuel C.Germantown, TN011May 27, 2018
Uhh not much to say. Great place. The board he recommended me from a few years ago is still great.

Memphis' original skateboard shop! They have been in the same locaction for over 25 years. Ron, the owner, is a really good dude and he's sure to tell you some interesting stories while you're there. There is a lot of history in that shop. I highly suggest doing business there.

Ron and Family keep the local skate shop dream alive in Memphis. I was recently out in Palm Springs, CA for El Gato Classic repping with my Cheapskates shirt and had several pros recognize the place and share their own stories about Ron and his dedication to the sport. Avoid the mall. Support your local skate shop. If they don't have it, they will bend over backwards to get it and without screwing you over. Ron's got great old school stories too so if you have the time, kick back, chat, and enjoy!
