I found "Charmed" easy enough. I just walked next door from my hotel based on past reviews (all high and impressive) to get a blow dry. My first reaction was "are they open?" The space is a bit run down and messy. I was hesitant to go in, but I had a small window of opportunity to get this done and hoped I could just walk-in. (Owners: your building and workspace needs a makeover).

I was concerned, but once Reda started washing my hair I saw he was a professional. He was amazing and I was very pleased with the outcome. I will go back next time I'm in town.

"Charmed" just needs its carriage (which is now a pumpkin) to return to a royal carriage that Reda deserves. Reda is great!

I've been going to Charmed for almost 12 years now. It has been such a joy to get to know Selim and Reda over the years. I love catching up with them during every visit and discussing the issues of the day. I'd hang out with them all day drinking Turkish or Moroccan tea or coffee if I could.

Selim couldn't give a bad cut if he tried--every time I walk out of there I remember how thankful I am that my brother recommended the shop to me those years ago.

      Johari is shears-magic!!!

I have been on a mission to release all of this hair on my head. After many months of planning & researching, I was referred to Johari. A few texts of salutations & I had my consultation that went very well. Johari embraces my intuitiveness & I was good to go for operation haircut. After one postponement due to not feeling well, today was the day.

A brief & brisk walk from Farragut North metro I arrived at the doorstep of Charmed Hair Salon, for a special Sunday appointment. A quaint & modern salon that welcomes you in.

Johari prepped my hair, took a before picture & became Andy Warhol with her scissors. Within in one hour, she transformed my natural, long, curly hair to a fierce 'wanna be' Jada Pinkett Smith's signature, extreme short pixie do...a moment of silence for this hairmajesty.

I overly enjoyed my invigorating shampoo & deep conditioner, as now less is more. She added some natural product, to took an after picture & I was good to go.

Joharie's skilled precision from beginning to end was amazing, price was on point & I am soooooooooo happy with my new look...thanks J!

Maybe this place isn't ideal to get a men's cut. Or maybe it was this particular barber, but this is perhaps the worst haircut I've ever received, especially since it should be simple.

Basically the guy can't do a fade. At all. Then he effed up the back of my head so bad - it looks like a tiger mauled me. And of course it's the back of my head so I didn't see it until I got home. But he saw what he did and still let me leave and pay the full price ($40, which even for a good haircut is pricey). Just don't come here. I never will again.

I recommend Reda to anyone who will listen to me. He's been cutting my hair for years and I always leave the salon feeling like I just got a stylish, fresh cut. Conversation with him is always wonderful and he is so thoughtful and fun to talk to. Even my mom, who lives out of state, will drive to DC just to get a haircut from him! I'm looking forward to going back there again soon.

This is the worst salon I have ever been to. The people who are writing good reviews are either on crack or have never had a decent haircut in their lives. Buyers beware, because you are going to get ripped off.

I guess I should blame myself as I should have walked out the door as soon as I saw the girl looking in the mirror unsure about her color, looking to be near tears. Or maybe when I saw the floor was covered in hair. Or used the restroom and there were no paper towels. But I was desperate for a cut as it had been three months and a friend gave me the recommendation.

My appointment was with Selim, the owner of this salon. He didn't ask what I wanted to do with my hair, he told me what we were going to do. I told him things I didn't like (like heavy layers) and was concerned about the under layer of my hair. Without washing my hair, he hacked away at my hair with a razor and scissors. He didn't keep the hair taught, but seemed to only cut by texturizing it. He assured me that he would cut it after a wash post highlights.

He did highlights on my hair. It had been a while since I had gotten it done, so I didn't think much about the speed with which he put them in.

Post washing my hair, he didn't cut and straighten the lines as promised, but just dried my hair and hacked away some more to "balance it out." While he was drying my hair, his assistant came by and blew all the hair on the floor away with a hairdryer. Everything that was on my cape was blown off into my bag that was on the floor bc there was no where else to put it.

Remarkably, the cut and color looked ok the night I was at the salon.

The next morning, horror. I realized upon close inspection that he had cut a section out of my hair. I have heavy layers on 1/3 of my hair and none on the rest. The layers are not gradual, but rather rough uneven short strands with longer strands 4 INCHES LONGER next to it. The bottom layer is jagged, uneven, and poorly cut.

The highlights are even worse. The top layer is fine, but if you go below that, it's clear that he didn't take time to actually do highlights, but rather put streaks of color in my hair. Those streaks have uneven dark roots that are at least an inch thick. So while you would think that I could put my hair up in a pony tail to hide the bad cut, I can't because of the skunk highlights.

I would be SHOCKED if Selim had ANY formal training at all. I could cut hair better than he did. I showed pictures a friend who described it as styling malfeasance.

I attempted to contact Selim to get a refund on this disastrous cut with no reply. He is the owner of the salon and made no attempt to make the situation better. Of course there is no one to hold him accountable for charging a client $200 to ruin her hair as he is the owner.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON, unless you want to go out looking like a crack whore.

      I used the 75$ groupon.

I got highlights, but I came in with the intention of having a full color. Reda recommended I got highlights to save my hair damage, but I also believe it was for the sake of his time.

They were nice, however I feel like they rushed on me. They were working on multiple customers simultaneously, so the time on me was off. They kept me under the heater too long, so my highlights came out too white. The color is also uneven and my hair is still dry. The haircut took about 4 minutes.

Like I said, the whole process was rushed.

I'm in DC for 6 months and can't afford to fly back to Atlanta for a haircut. Decided to try Charmed based on other yelp reviews. I stopped in rather than calling and found it very easy to get an appointment with Selim. The staff was very helpful and courteous. When I arrived for my haircut, I was given an intake form to fill out which asked several questions about my style preferences and hair care products and shampoos. I greatly appreciated this effort to learn what I wanted.

Selim actually read the information and used it to start a conversation with me about what I was looking for. I was also pleased that he cut my hair using the same scissoring technique as my regular stylist in Atlanta. He paused several times to tell me what he was planning to do and be sure I was in agreement. I found Selim to be a warm, friendly, intelligent person who is easy to talk to, and who actually has something interesting to say.

My haircut looked great right away, and now that my hair has grown for a week, it looks even better. The prices at Charmed are very reasonable and I will definitely be going back.
