Truewood by Merrill, Cottonwood Heights

Not having experienced very many assisted living centers, I can't do a compare and contrast, but I have been to this one often enough to give an educated opinion.

A family member and close friend has been living here for the past 2-3 years. She loves the neighborly atmosphere and the wide range of activities, from Bingo night to crafts to trips to Wal-mart or Smiths to her very favorite, van rides. They go all over the place, from up the canyon to downtown Salt Lake. She gets a little tired of the food, but raves about the friendliness of all of the 'cute young kids' (as she calls the staff).

When visiting I've noticed that all of the staff know every one of the tenants' names and greet them that way when passing in the halls. They are always cheerful when we need to pick up medications or something for an overnighter elsewhere. They hold parties on holidays where friends and family are invited and they have let us use one of their dining areas for a private family birthday party as well.

There are assigned seats at mealtimes so they get to know at least a few other folks really well and I love when someone drops by to 'pick her up' for dinner.

The units are unfurnished, so each tenant brings in their own furniture and decor and can also decorate outside their door, making it feel as much like home as possible. I love walking the halls and seeing the handmade items and fun things that show the personalities of each person.

For me, this is a fantastic place that seems to truly value the unique individuality of each person going through this potentially difficult and frustrating time in their lives. I'm glad that my loved one is being so well cared for and is so close to me, so I can see her often.

These people made my mom feel welcomed and comfortable from the very beginning of her time here and I will always be grateful. They are pro's and take pride in their work. Emily helped me every step of the way and before she left, she knew my mom, knew her issues and took time to answer every question I ever had. I know my mom will miss her and so will I. Megan or Jeremy greet you and makes you feel like you are in good hands the minute that you walk in the place. Curtis shows that he knows your situation and is on top of things and truly able to help you. Brooke, Tatianna, Jo Jo and Ben (to name four of my mom's favs--there are more) treat your parent or grandparent, like she is THEIR parent or grandparent and always have a smile and are patient and kind. This can be tough work, but these folks don't treat it that way. Employees at Truewood never seem to be burnt out by the work and actually seem to enjoy what they are doing. Thank you guys for all that you have done for my mom.

This building is amazing!! The staff is super friendly and very attentive. I always hear so many positive things about this building with all the residents. The food is really great they have an incredible cook. I even eat here some days it's that good!! One of my places to put a loved ones because I know they will be taken care of. Never hesitate to stop by and ask the front desk or the administration questions they are wonderful and friendly to deal with. Such an excellent building. And location did I say location!! Omg the best to get to. Right in the heart of Fort union!! Super convenient!! Come check out this place!

My brother and I want to "thank you" Abrahim Sesay for everything he has done for our dad. He and his team are greatly appreciated! I guess my dad could not wait for my family to come back from CA. But I was able to see him on FaceTime.
His passing was so quick, took me by surprised. But at least I know he is at peace . No more pain!

I definitely will refer all friends and family to Truewood Memory Care unit. Even though my father was there for a short period of time but Abrahim's team showed the compassion in caring and loving the clients. I truly appreciate you and your memory care team!

For work, I go to this building often. We get the frequent opportunity to move in new residents. This allows us to talk with residents and be inside the building. The building always is clean and smells nice. The staff and residents are all very happy. Management really cares and is constantly making improvements. I would highly recommend this building for friends and family in that area.

There are so many positive things I can say about Canyon Creek! First, I love the convenient location. So close to shopping and amenities yet it feels secluded and private! The staff is so kind and there is a very cozy, homey feel there. There are so many activities going on and opportunities to socialize. I have toured many assisted living communities and this is one of my absolute favorites!

We are in the early stages of looking in Senior Living for my Mom, even though she isn't ready at this time. We dropped in at Canyon Creek and had such a wonderful experience, Ryan was truly amazing with the information he gave us and made us feel very welcomed. The staff was friendly and it was such a clean community. Mom isn't ready to make the move but she has decided when that time comes she will move into Canyon Creek...

Great community, wonderful residents. Rooms are nice and spacious, and reasonable priced. The food looked delicious. Everyone seemed happy, and welcoming. Talked to a few of the residents and they said it's a great place to live, and that they stay busy will all the activities.
