Nice ambiance and service. Very mixed food reviews for the 4 of us.
First off bread was way too hard. I actually asked for a different sort of roll and waitress told me they had a gluten free bread. It was one of the most delicious warm rolls with butter I've ever had! Oh wow- as I write this I see this restaurant has closed! Great ambiance. I hope they re-open as something.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jeff D.New York, NY150315Jul 26, 2016
DON'T BOTHER.
I have over 20 years of experience in the restaurant business. I have never seen such a poor display of alleged "service" in my lifetime.
The waiter was useless. His four other tables kept him very "busy". He had:
a: My girlfriend and me (two people)
b: One person sitting by himself
c: Two different two-tops (four people)
d: A four-top
This was a total of eleven people. Not enough to justify being "slammed". He took our order and WE NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN.
He didn't even drop off our drinks (that he got wrong). He never bothered to ask how the meal was. He was too busy offering free drinks and dessert to his table of one person.
I ordered the rib eye. It was mediocre at best with a horrible wilted and overdressed salad on the same plate. There was something that resembled bone marrow on the plate but looked more like rocks. The steak tasted like it came out of a microwave. I couldn't wait to brush my teeth afterwards to get the taste out of my mouth.
Did I mention that I had to go the HOSTESS STATION to ask for my steak knife? That's how bad the waiter was. No other staff member was around to help me so I went to the hostess. Sad.
My girlfriend has the fusilli dish. That looked more like a side dish to accompany my steak. The taste was good (not great) but the size of this dish was a joke.
Of course, I had to go back to the hostess to ask for my check, being that the waiter could care less about our table. I complained to the hostess. She apologized and said that they were all a team here and took responsibility. I assured her it wasn't her fault but then became angered because the waiter wouldn't even show up to run my credit card. She stated that they were short staffed and very busy. I explained my history in the business and questioned her judgment on how busy the place was at the present time.
No manager came to inquire about the problems we had. No one cared. I was tempted to walk out on the check. As far as I'm concerned, these people didn't deserve to make a profit off of this miserable experience, however, we could not commit a crime. I simply paid the bill and explained to the hostess why I refused to leave a tip. We had no service. No one deserved to be compensated. This was the first time in my life in which I did not leave a tip for a waiter. Tips were my livelihood for many years. This tells you how bad the service was.
DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AWFUL RESTAURANT.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tamara L.New York, NY35594Jun 23, 2017
I don't know if the name change to Baldanza is to escape the poor reviews, but it hasn't helped. This review isn't for the food or service because I never had a chance to eat there. I made a reservation for dinner through the open table link on their website and received a confirmation. The dinner was to celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday We drove 45 minutes to get to the restaurant. When we arrived at 830pm, however, we were informed that the restaurant was closed for a wedding. There was a parking attendant outside who informed us of this. He seemed unsurprised when we said we had a confirmed reservation, which make me suspect that this is not an uncommon occurrence.
I wrote an email to Baldanza informing them of what happened. They never bothered to respond (it's been a week). So unprofessional.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - M S.New York, NY9415Mar 15, 2016
Food is good, not worth the price though. Had the chicken breast, the steak, and the salmon for restaurant week. The service was terrible. We had 8pm reservation and the table wasn't ready so we didn't get seated until 820. Seems like this is a trend with the restaurant.
The waitress knocked the wine glass and a bit spilled onto the lady at the table. She just said oops sorry. We had to ask for water refills and they just brought dessert out. Never asked if we wanted coffee or anything.
Skip the burger. Definitely not worth $24. I've had better at lower price range down the street in town.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Josh D.Stamford, CT2424824Mar 9, 2016
I've been meaning to eat at Campagna for far too long and finally seized the perfect opportunity during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, where you can get three courses for a low fixed price. I don't usually care about service or ambiance, but I must admit the setting is nice and the service was attentive and professional. It's a great place for a nice meal or a date. The two cocktails I tried were both excellent, and my party also enjoyed their chianti and chardonnay.
But most importantly the food, in reverse order: I was blown away by the two desserts I tried- the bombolini (small doughnuts) and "caramel bar." The hot sugared doughnuts included fresh vanilla ice cream, hot chocolate sauce, and some sort of whipped cream-custard hybrid. All four components complemented each other nicely. As for the caramel bar, there were also quite a few components which played together and delighted on their own, including what seemed to be earl grey ice cream, and espresso zabaglione. The bar itself had a nice caramelized flavor, which most of my party deemed "nostalgic."
I enjoyed my order of homemade tortelloni with hazelenuts, which was rich despite a lack of strong flavors. The garganelli with truffle butter was also excellent. The spaghetti pomodoro was entirely lackluster though. My family also enjoyed the restaurant-week steak entree and the branzino (which looked fabulous), though I did not try them.
The sunchoke side dish with golden raisins was well-loved by my whole group. The brussels sprouts were also quite good, and I enjoyed the sauteed kale as well, with its strong garlic flavor.
The white bean soup appetizer was very good, and both salads were pretty good too. My uncle enjoyed his beef tartare.
The dining room became quite warm during the meal, but we all enjoyed our meals so much that it didn't bother us.
It's clear that the kitchen team is committed to good food. Period. I'm looking forward to returning.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maureen M.Ossining, NY018May 31, 2015
Campagna is a wonderful night out. Rest assured you are going to eat well when you go here. The food and the flavors are top notch. The service side needs to step up their game. If you are going to charge high prices ( which I don't mind if I feel like I get what I pay for) you need to provide the service to back up the food. We were there a half hour before we could put our order in ( or get a drink). Also, if I am being charged $15 for a glass of wine, I'd like to have it with my meal. I was almost done with dinner by the time I got my drink.
I suggest you do what many other restaurants are doing. Put one server on for drinks and the other on for food. Your customers will be pleased. The staff should treat all their customers with an old fashioned friendly smile. Lose the high end Schtick and be real. Only a select few Westchester snobs need their ego stroked to that degree. Stand by your food. That's all you need.
I'm reluctant to go back, I'm afraid the inattentive service combined with the higher than usual drink prices outweighed the delicious food and special ambience. I'll stick with my always dependable favorite restaurants for now.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Courtney C.Shrub Oak, NY324111Jan 13, 2015
The newly re-opened restaurant at the Bedford Post Inn does not disappoint! Campagna's is Michael White's restaurant located on the upper level inside The Bedford Post Inn. I've dined there 1-2 times a week for the past 2 months. As a business owner in Bedford Village, it is so nice to have an excellent restaurant right down the street.
The cocktails are interesting and unique, there is a Vodka Pear cocktail I cant recall the name of and another bourbon version of an old fashioned that are my 2 favorites, whomever their mixologist, is- 5 stars!
For appetizers, the Fluke Crudo is one of the best starters I have ever had in my entire life. The balance of that dish is exceptional. The Charred Octopus also a good choice.
I've tried all of the fish entrees, which were wonderful- as are the pastas- truly to die for! The Creste Nero is one of my favorite dishes and completely reasonable at $24.00 for dinner.
They don't have specials, but there are slight menu alterations throughout the week, and since everything is so special in and of itself, I don't mind at all.
Some people on Yelp have complained about the price, but this is what I would expect to pay in a restaurant in that setting. Staff are friendly and well versed on what they are serving, the sommelier knowledgeable and not pretentious!
Great little fireplace by the bar and lounge area you won't want to leave.
I am only sad that Campagna's is only open for dinner and not lunch as well. Note: the Barn is a more casual restaurant open for lunch and private parties downstairs, but it is a different chef than Campagna's. Its great for Sunday Brunch.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Buddy M.Manhattan, NY17462Dec 17, 2014First to Review
Spectacular Italian, especially where Michael White shines, with pasta.
The starters where also quite remarkable, especially the fluke crude, it was beautiful. The polpo was lovely with its perfectly charred octopus.
All our pasta dishes were superb, most notably the buttery capeletti and a superb rotolo, even with it's trendy kale.
Our entrees were ok, but did not stand up to the rest of the meal, the pork chop was overdone and the Branzino, while cooked perfectly, was a bit underwhelming.
Desserts were the highlight -- especially the semifreddo with a grape granita and all sorts or crunchy wonderfulness.
Four stars because the entrees were average and the portion sizes were small, and our entrees were overcooked -- not acceptable considering the price. Overall, great service and a great meal!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kate S.Manhattan, NY09Jul 12, 2015
Lucky enough to have a second home in Bedford and now a few really fine restaurants in the area, we have found the food to be truly excellent, even better and less self-conscious then their competition "down the street". The menu is varied and interesting and most importantly truly fine gourmet cuisine!
Large enough in the summer- we have gotten a table graciously and impromptu the last three times, and eaten al fresco. The outside patio still could use a bit of magic to make it more "Caprese" like , something seems missing; and the inside seems a bit noisy. All solveable, we will now be regulars.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rye Mom 1.Rye, NY3916May 14, 2017
Had dinner here recently and we were disappointed. This place is very expensive. The cheapest wine on the wine list was about $75. The service was awful despite dropping $500 for a table for 4. The hostess and all the managers kept walking by our table to see when we were going to finish, meanwhile you couldn't find a waiter in sight to see if we wanted another drink or to refill our waters. Service here is bad and not worth what you pay. There is better in Westchester for the price.
