We came here for dinner on a Saturday night around 6pm. The place was not busy. Our server were great. He was friendly and polite. Great service! Food came out pretty fast. We can't really say much about the food. It tasted like any other California Pizza Kitchen. The place looks clean and quiet. Great place to have casual lunch or dinner with friends and family if you are nearby.

I got a gift card to CPK, so that is why I dined at CPK. I don't think I would dine here otherwise, but I had a pretty decent experience so far.
The first trip I went I got the Garlic Roasted Chicken Pizza. It was pretty heavy and I felt gross afterward eating it. I barely got through the sixth slice and had to down a coffee or else I would've passed out during my drive home.
However, on the second trip I got the California Cobb Pizza, it was pretty good. I was surprised, I thought the pizza with bacon on it would be heavier/greasier, but I guess the lettuce and avocado helped balance it out. I would heavily recommend the Cobb Pizza.
Would rate the Garlic Roasted Pizza a 2/5 and the Cobb Pizza a 5/5. The location is quite large so I did not have to wait at all to be seated.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I waited at the lake grove location for over an Hour .. it was the worse ,with no explanation! .. all kids working .. gossiping in the back area ! Table and chair and utensils dirty !! I will never ever go to this place again ! And I had a gift card so I'm looking to dispose of it !!

I had a very disappointing dining experience at the restaurant two nights ago. I was on a date, and the customer service completely ruined the night for both of us.
I ordered a margherita pizza and garlic cream fettuccine with mojito and peach tea. The server was nice and the pizza was great; however, the pasta was noticeably undercooked and crispy at some points. The sauce was great, but the pasta got impossible to eat 1/4 the way there.Â
We complained about the food to another server, as our server seemed busy with other customers. The server brought someone who seemed to be a manager of the restaurant, who soon said, "this is called al dente, and this is how it's supposed to be." in a very undermining, disrespectful tone. She then said, "we can reheat it for you or you can get something else" in a disregarding manner. We were fine with the response, although a bit stunned, and requested to have the pasta reheated.
A few minutes later, my server brought a seemingly new pasta. The pasta was now cooked and edible; however, the sauce was completely bland. It was obvious that they added water to the pasta and microwaved it. We were very disappointed and called for a check after having a few bites. Then, my server brought the receipt without the booklet (which they gave to every customer around us). At this point, we were done with the restaurant and wrote $0 on the tip and left.
I believe the normal response to a customer when they complain of the pasta being crunchy and inedible is "We are sorry, we will bring you a new one." Perhaps she treated us in such manner because English isn't my primary language and we were both in our 20s. Even so, I obviously know how to distinguish "firm texture" and an indigestible meal; I really don't need to be taught on what "al dente" is, as I've been to Italy and Italian fine dining numerous times. Anyhow, it was very discriminatory and disrespectful. We are very disappointed in how we were treated and we will never be returning to the restaurant again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Well Lake grove location (smith haven mall) Order take out ,pizza got burn so bad ,and tequila fettuccine was terrible see from picture and no test ,spend $40 plus tax .Not recommend this locations .

45 min wait for food without explanation from server. Everyone else waiting as well. . Kitchen very slow. The food when it arrived tasted good.

COVID issue or laziness??
Not picking up the main course before the desert is served not even when the desert is halfway worked... the bill came faster than the pickup of the plates.

So fair is fair. If something is wrong you need to make a point of letting people know what the issues are. With that said, when something is right you need to let people know. At the request of the manager of our local CPK in Smithhaven mall, we returned to give our once favorite restaurant another chance. Well all lived up to expectations. The once worn and tattered booths were reupholster and repaired. The dining area was clean and well maintained. We were attended to by our server, Ryan who was pleasant and attentive. The food was exceptional and beyond our expectations. We decided to enjoy desert which we must recommend. Warm butter cake with ice cream. Yummy! We will definitely return as regulars again.

Sep 16, 2022Previous reviewWhat a total downside for this popular chain. We go about once or twice a month, so I guess we could be considered regulars. That was until tonight. During the nice weather we like to site outside. When the hostess took us to any variety of open tables, we saw that they were all dirty from food from prior guests. When we asked her to have them cleaned, she looked at us in bewilderment as what she was supposed to do. Since none of these were acceptable, we went inside where the AC was set to about 65. She went to sit us at a booth. I then requested a different booth due to the fact that the seat was covered in peeling colored duct tape. She then showed us another, but still the same. This restaurant needs a makeover badly. It is in total decay and it is apparent that nobody cares. Unfortunately, this will be our last time there until there are updates made. If I wanted to eat in a dump, I would eat at White Castle. So disappointed.

Went here after shopping at the mall and staying in a nearby hotel for a quick winter get-away. The service was a bit slow to start but picked up. Stand outs for sure were the buffalo cauliflower ( a mix of sararchi and honey we were told), the avocado bacon, chicken eggrolls- both super tasty!! Started with a strawberry berry "mocktail" which was slow to get to the table but delicious and refreshing! Our 14 yr old son ordered the chipotle chicken pizza, my husband ordered cobb salad, and I ordered cesar salad- all really delecious! Kudos to Californial Pizza Kitchen, having been to quite a few of their locations throughout the NY area for the 15-16 years, the food is always well done!
