Cafe Habana is a popular NYC based Cuban restaurant that recently opened in the Shibuya/Daikanyama area. I tried a full size Cuban (pressed) sandwich, and can say, this place is legit. ---------------------------- Details Value: (4/5) Menu/selection: (4/5) Quality: (5/5) Service/staff: (5/5) Ambiance: (5/5) Value Though the price of what I used to pay for a decent Cuban sandwich in NYC is more than double here, the size of the sandwich and the quality make for a decent value here in Tokyo. Menu/selection This place offers quite a bit on their menu, which I hope to try someday, but for me the Cuban sandwich is the "go to" meal here. I'm pretty sure everything on the menu has got to be on par with the sandwich. Quality Good quality food and prepared nicely. Service/staff Staff is very friendly and attentive. Ambiance The interior is spacious and bright. Music playing at a decent level in the background was not distracting at all. Final thoughts... Great meal in a great shop. I will definitely be back especially for their Cuban pressed sandwich.
What a great find in Tokyo! This just goes to show, you can find anything you want to eat in Tokyo. My friend raved about this restaurant and I'm so glad she introduced me to it. When I was living in San Diego a little Cubano place was one of my go-tos, and this place really hit the spot that day. Sandwiches here are very solid and also very reasonably priced, especially lunch time. Don't forget to checkin with Yelp and receive a free drink (current 2017). Just missing a side of plantain chips and I'd be set. Nom nom nom. The ambience is also very cool, and they have neat decor. Definitely recommend it.
Excellent food. A must if you live in Japan. We had the Grilled Steak Torta, Cubano, and the Mexican Corn on the Cob. The steak was absolutely delicious and tender. The meat would melt in your mouth. The roasted pork was exactly what you expect with great Cuban sandwich. The Mexican corn was good, but the presentation was better than how it tasted (I've tasted better). Overall, definitely a restaurant I would come back to.
Fantastic! I have never had the original so when I saw that the new or post was here in Tokyo I jumped on the chance to try it right away. Boy was it a good choice. You first order at the little kiosk in the front and the you are escorted to your seat. Great concept so you are assured a seat. The famous corn was tangy and spicy and rich and delicious- perfect topping for the sweet crunchy corn. The Cubano was just amazing in every way. Rich, tender juicy pulled pork, ham, crunchy tart pickles slathered with mayonnaise all on a pressed chewy bread. Oh so delicious oh so good. Full bar here too! Can't wait to come back.
Wow, that was good. The Cuban sandwich was great. Beignets were great. Cafe con leche was great. Coming back for more!
One of my favorite restaurants right now! And I've settled into a half Cubano sandwich and a half Mexican corn. Both are amazing! And how great that you can order just a half of each. My husband gets different things all the time so I have tasted a lot. Chips & guac- great, nachos- great, but more like an appetizer size, french fries (come with the sandwiches)- great, but not a huge man-sized portion so order more if that's your thing, the sliced beef plate with rice and beans- great. Sometimes I get a mojito which is also great- tastes like fresh lime with just the right amount of sweetener. So it's both sweet and tart with lots of fresh mint and limes in the glass. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is very cool. Location is not on the main road but it's just a short block over. Definitely worth finding!
Delicious! かくれ restaurant. We were looking for something different. We are happy our map guided treasure hunt led us to Café Habana. The café havana was strong and sweet. The corn rich and savory. And the plum chicken sandwich -- num!
Great ambiance and music. The food was just okay. I had the shrimp entree while my husband how the chicken plate. Both were just okay. The shrimp had too much tomato base in the sauce that made it somewhat sour. We also tried the cocktails. They were really good. We tried the strawberry cocktail and then had the bartender make something based off our taste. Overall, great change of pace and wasn't expecting to find something like this in the middle of Tokyo.
This place had the cutest interior and it is in a great location. This treasure of a cafe/restaurant is in the back alley of daikan yama and is a bright blue and has that tropical feel the moment you walk in. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and the food is a bit above average but the flavor is above average so it is reasonable. Get the cubano!!!!! Please please please if youre going to eat here get the cubano. Its their specialty and ive never seen it anywhere else in tokyo. It is great and anyone would like it.
I was happy to visit here. The atmosphere was great. There's only a few selections on the menu now, since it just opened. But the menu will grow over time, I'm sure. AND THEY HAVE FREE WIFI!
The Cuban sandwich and corn are just as delicious as everyone says. Hubby eats Cuban sandwiches more often than I do and was impressed but thought the ham could've been better. Calamari was also good. Plantains were mediocre but since we don't see them on the menu very often in Tokyo I'd probably order them again next time (and there will be a next time!). The decor is upbeat and charming and the music is fun. We walked there from Daikanyama station and that was fine, but you can see the Shibuya Yamanote line from very close to the restaurant so we took that on the way back and it seemed closer (although we had to walk a roundabout way to actually access the station).
