Just moved back into the area two weeks ago and this place is a gem! The place is spacious and very clean. Parking is really easy. The staff is friendly and kind. Our boys enjoyed the cookies they have for sale.
I didn't catch our groomer's name. She was the blonde woman there. She was really great with our two boys and was through clipping their nails within 10-15 minutes. She clipped their nails in stages rather than just 1 single clipping to prevent cutting into the wick and any unnecessary pain and bleeding for our boys. Although they were in the back, I could hear the way she was talking to them. We truly appreciate her demeanor and how well she was with them. I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could.
We will certainly be back at least once a month.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2018
My new mini poodle was in need of a wash and while I was in the area, I decided to take him here. The staff here was very friendly and everything was extremely clean. Despite that, my dog still didn't come out with the freshness I would've liked him too. In total, I paid about $45 for a wash and nail cutting. Sadly, my dog still had a weird smell after the wash (that seemed to only last 5 minutes) I'm already in search of another grooming place after this visit left me unsatisfied.

BYOD Spa is the best place for grooming. Our pup, Murphy, is a tough guy everywhere but the groomers. Our groomer, Liz, AKA in my mind St Elizabeth, is so gentle and kind. She's professional, thorough and friendly and her love of animals is apparent. Because of Murphy's stress at the groomers, Michael, the owner of the shop, suggested we bring Murphy in the day before so he could get a feel for the place and get to know Liz. Not many places would do that, I don't think. Liz was happy to take some time to meet Murph and played with him for about 15 minutes. Although that initial meeting didn't completely assuage Murphy's stress, it definitely helped. When we returned for our actual appointment he was happy to come in and see the people who had been so nice to him the day before.
Despite his joyous arrival, Murphy wasn't very happy when it came time to start grooming, but Liz stayed calm and kind. She took her time and did a truly excellent job. She didn't skip any parts of the process because because of our problem baby. She just spoke softly and kept moving forward.
BYOD, as the name implies, is more than just a great grooming shop. It's a full fledged K9 spa! You can "bring Your Own Dog" in for a bath and wash him/her yourself. Michael has thought of everything. There are four large, elevated washing areas, each with a spraying hose, soap and shampoo choices, etc. There are towels for drying your pup and even aprons to wear so you don't get clothes wet when the inevitable shaking off starts! There are lots of treats for good dogs, and some for brave dogs who try to be good like Murphy. There are many different very affordable options at BYOD. You can bring your pal in for a DIY bath, or add a nail trim or just go the whole route and get a groom which includes a bath and nail trim.
I highly recommend BYOD Spa to everyone with a K9. They also offer gift cards which is an excellent idea for anyone you know who has a dog. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is fun; lots of pups around which is always a good time. I am very happy to have found BYOD and plan to be a customer for a very long time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patricia K.NJ, NJ34141Jan 1, 2019
Don't even hesitate! If you're unhappy with your dogs grooming by Lizz... I'll pay for it! She knows dogs. She has the patience of a saint. She cares deeply. The place is spotless. The prices are more than reasonable.
We have traveled over an hour to have our dog groomed here by Lizz or Stephanie. Mike runs a tight ship... I couldn't find a complaint if I searched for one. Bravo!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa O.Rahway, NJ454915Dec 22, 2019
I have been coming here pretty much since they opened, and it's the only place I feel comfortable bringing my nervous, dog-reactive girl. The owner has the kind of calm, quiet manner that she just loves, and she wiggles every time she sees him for her nail grind. My dogs have wash-and-wear coats, so I use the DIY dog wash and love not having to try and bathe them in my own bathroom. Prices are great for nails and DIY bath. Everything is there for you: shampoos, brushes, combs, towels, dryer. Just BYOD! Highly recommended, plus you can pick up dog food or a treat next door at Animal Crackers.

Favorite place to take the pooch. Friendly staff and a large selection of products available. The dog may hate it but I certainly don't.

I have tried several local groomers in the Rahway area and hated the way they kept our nervous little poodle for up to and sometimes longer than 4 hours and none were all that clean or friendly either! When BYOD opened we started bringing our little guy there and the longest amount of time he spent was a little bit over an hour but it is normally just 1 hour and I really love that! BYOD is also very clean, modern and most of all friendly! I bring our little guy there on different days and no matter who grooms him, he always looks and smells terrific! This place deserves 10 stars!! !!! Love it!
