Q:
Gluten free options?
A:
They can make the burgers lettuce wrapped to make it GF. They also have salads. Fries also don't have that coating on it so it's ok for wheat sensitivity. My son has a wheat allergy and he loves the burgers and fries!

Are they open? I've tried calling to make a takeout order around 8pm on a Friday night and it keeps going straight to voicemail.

Ok, I just don't know where to start. My friend and I didn't know where we were going to get lunch, we just happened to be working near this restaurant at the same time and I mentioned to him that while I was waiting for him i checked out a few places in the area. Then, all I said was this place seemed nice as one of the staff members waved and smiled at me while I was sitting outside just listening to music. And he said, " Then let's try this place. " So we did.
And I have to say I'm glad we did. I'm not sure which exceeds the other, the food or the service. We were greater and lucky enough to be served by Rhea. Who is absolutely stellar! Apparently, she is the GM, which makes sense. She has this amazing combination of professionalism and being down to earth! She helped us out big time.
As we were unfamiliar with the menu. She made the process of ordering a lot smoother and more efficient by telling us we had made it for their lunch specials. Which includes a burger and a side for just $12. Which is an insane deal, especially considering the quality of the ingredients this place uses. Everything is super fresh, and you can tell. From the meat to the tutor tots we chose, down to the housemade sauces they have available.
My friend ordered the pb&j burger, which he was a little hesitant to order as he was under the assumption that he had probably already had the best version he was going to have of that item at another restaurant. According to him, he couldn't have been more wrong!
He raved about the generous amount and quality of the peanut butter, jelly, and bacon, while also saying it was just the right amount.
Let's say, after hearing him talk about it, I was peanut butter and jealous, lol!
I went with the build your own burger.
Again, it was awesome. Rhea oddly enough somehow new what I wanted on it, even though I wasn't even sure, lol. Ended up basically having an upscale in - n - out burger, but with cheddar instead of American cheese. And the housemade bun sauce ( 1000 island ) was delicious.
They came out cooked to perfection, all nice and juicy, somewhere between a nice med to med rare.
The tater tots were not your average tater tots either, especially with the housemade ranch to dip them in. And people, you have to opt for the garlic parmasian. They were super crispy and not greasy at all.
Neither of us was able to finish our food, so we each took home leftovers. Funny thing is that both of our wives loved it and are very picky.
So that is to say, it heats up great, too.
We all can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu, along with the beer on tap and maybe a mimosa or to for their happy hour as we did not have a chance to try them when we were there.
Very nice atmosphere with a chill family vibe!
I personally hope this place stays open for a long time. I live in LA now, and you can't beat prices like these for the quality present all around 5 stars! This spot is a real Ray of sunshine. - 17111855/17/2023
We got the the El Diablo burger, Teri Avo burger, and the Carne Asada fries. The el Diablo burger was the clear winner for presentation and taste. The Teri avo was good but average. The bun was a Hawaiian roll but it was pretty soggy and did not look appealing at all. You might be thinking if that's the case then why the 4 stars but I think the fries and other burger make up for it. The fries were the perfect amount of crispiness and filled with it with a hefty portion of cheese and meat. The asada quality was very good and it was seasoned perfectly. I actually ended up only finishing half of the Teri avo burger and focused the rest of my energy on the fries. The next time I come I'll skip the burgers and try the other speciality fries they have.
Aside from the food, the service was great and friendly. We were seated pretty quickly and the waitress checked on us multiple times. The restaurant looks pretty small from the outside but there is plenty of seating inside. They have a small bar too with some bar seating. - Jimmy H.Los Angeles, CA2537445/4/2023
Hawaiian burger and Diablo are my faves...the garlic ain't bad neither!
You must try... like Tommy's at least once but you'll be back... I drive all the way from Beverly Hills to West Covina.
Did i mention the sweet potato fries and cosmic onions rings... get out of town! - 201243474/17/2023
I was craving a burger and stopped by for a late dinner. There's some parking available in front of the restaurant. The bar area is next to the entrance on the left. They also have outside eating area. There's also two dining sections for eating on the inside.
I was seated and given a menu. The waitress came and took my order down. I was in between getting fries and tots. She said she could do half and half for me. I got the cheesesteak tots and fries and a California Burger cut in half.
The cheesesteak fries and tots were good. The meat was flavorful and tender. The fries were seasoned well, and the tots were crispy perfection. The serving is large. It can easily be shared with a party of 4.
The burger was delicious. The meat was cooked about medium well. I am not big on bacon, but their bacon was great. It had the right amount of chew and crispness. The veggies were fresh. All the ingredients were paired well together. It almost felt like a breakfast burger because it had bacon and egg.
I will be stopping by again soon. - 104951593/22/2023
This is great place to eat in West Covina! Their burgers are really good. I think the carne asada fries were the best part of our meal. If you're craving carne asada fries, you have to check this place out.
There's plenty of parking here. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service is great and they are really attentive here. - Don L.West Covina, CA37047954/17/2023Updated review
Recently, I decided to eat in the outdoor patio area here instead of getting my usual take-out order.
I placed my order at the front counter with the cashier, whose name I believe is Rhea. With my iPhone, I showed her the ingredients that I wanted for the build-your-own burger selection. Without missing a beat, Rhea carefully inputted the ingredients in to the computerized order tablet, along with the sweet potato fries and Arnold Palmer that I also wanted.
I then was able to pre-pay for the order quickly and easily at the front counter.
After I sat in the patio for about 10 minutes, Rhea delivered my food:
My *Build Your Own Burger*
-Angus Beef Medium Well Done With Cajun Spices (if available),
-Brioche Bun
-Sauces: Bun Street Sauce, Garlic Aioli, Roasted Red Pepper
-3 Cheeses: Pepper Jack, Garlic, Swiss
Lettuce, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Pineapple, Fried Egg
Two Side Order of Sweet Potato Fries
Bacon Chipotle Sauce On Side
Arnold Palmer
Total Price (excluding tip): $35.5912/3/2019Previous reviewI have been going to Bun Street fairly regularly for more than two years, and the food and service never disappoint me. The food tastes great, and is reasonably priced for the area.
I particularly like Bun Street's build your own burger options, now including the Impossible Burger, which I greatly appreciate.
Irving, the kind manager, runs an efficient and nice staff, who always make me feel welcome. Irving, Mike, Aaron, Spencer, and several others give this spot an authentic feeling of extended family.

First time visitor.
This place is a MUST if you are hungry.
Upon entering, the place is decorated sooo cool, music playing over the sound system is awesome and the vibe here is definitely positive.
Our waitress welcomed us with a huge smile and was very friendly.
We were led to our table and our drink orders were taken immediately.
Upon receiving our beverages, we placed our food orders.
We received our food in under ten minutes. Truly impressed by the turnaround time.
One bite of my Hawaiian burger which included chicken breast and pulled pork plus the fixins and I knew I hit a jackpot. Wow! This was an AWESOME burger!! Sooo fresh and tasty
Every other item we ordered was EXCELLENT!! And service was definitely 5 star
This was a positive dining experience - 141954521/7/2023
Randomly saw this place on Yelp and took a chance since it has 4.5/5 stars and 2k reviews. Don't forget to check in for the offer of $3 for Bun Street Golden Ale! The sign above the joint is misleading since it's old and we were having second thoughts about going in.
We were given a choice of where to be seated. It's like a cozy camp hall inside. There are pictures of food items on the menu on the walls and TV's if you want to watch a game. We ordered the Stinkin' Bun and Carne Asada Fries (Most Popular on the menu) for the table. I highly recommend both. As soon as we got a whiff of the burgers as they arrived at the table we knew we made a good choice. The Bun Street garlic cheese on the burger was *chef's kiss*. The bread was good too. Soft but firm and not squishy. The burger was rich and savory. The Carne Asada fries can be eaten as 1 meal or split amongst the table. I loved how the flavors mixed together (Avocado Crema, Red Salsa Sour Cream, Mozzarella, and Queso Blanco). The fries were soft and crispy. Good value for the quantity & quality of the food. I was ready to food coma on the way home but didn't feel bloated luckily.
Adriana was our server. It didn't feel like she was hovering over us but she was there when we needed water, to give us the bill, and to give us to-go boxes.
This place is out of the way for me but I'll return in the future! I want to live on Bun Street. - 2884309963/31/2023
Hands down one of the best eats in West Covina. Such a great variety of burgers and amazing sides to choose from. I got the stinkin bun which was excellent. Then we shared to buffalo chicken fires and tots. Awesome, casual feel on the inside and excellent service. Big shout out to Rhea for being so friendly and kind.

Came for their All Day Happy Hour Monday. Quick and easy seating. Football games playing. $3 house beers. I wish I could come here more often. It's def a vibe when the friends get together to feast on some bomb appetizers, food and drinks.
Carne Asada Tots: easily can be shared between 2-5 people. Loaded with cheese, guac...I think the only thing i'd add to it would be their bun street sauce which is like a mixture of sriracha and mayo.
Battered onion rings (on their HH): perfect crisp, coated with teryiaki, ranch and their bun street sauce...again, whatever sauce it is, it's bomb. you'll wanna just grab your food and surf on any leftover sauce.
Chicken Potstickers (on their HH): I ate them so fast, I think they came in a set of 5 or 6, and need I say, the sauce!!
Mac and Cheese Burger: overflowing with goodness. Very filling.
Western Burger: had bbq, crisp onion ring, and bacon with fresh pickle.
Diablo Burger: my friend had it and his mouth was on fire. which is what he likes so if you enjoy a kick to your taste buds, then this is it.
Important to note all buns on burgers were very delicious.
$3 house beers: enough said.
I don't come here often, but def worth a stop.4/5/2017Previous reviewI decided to check this place out on Sunday, and lucky for me, I was just in time for their happy hour. Bun Street Golden Ale for $2! let's be real, even if you didn't like it, u aren't really losing much as it is only $2. Nonetheless, it was a delicious refreshing beer as I sat on their patio, watching mothers being dragged by 5 years olds as they raced to go see Boss Baby as the theater is right across from this place. More of a bonus, drinks before a movie.
Let us continue...battered onion rings was the highlight. Must order, and also on happy hour. Although I wanted to try their burgers, my excitement for their happy hour menu had me full. We got onion rigns, sliders with fries, tator tots (which to be honest were ok...I wouldnt bust a napolean dynamite and put it in my pocket), about 6 beers and the meal was $30.
The service was quick, waiters were nice, and although its a bit hidden, many people do come. I agree with the 4.5/5 rating...prices are good, and the pictures do make these burgers seem mouth watering. But don't go on hyped up emotions. It's kinda like the android pic vs iphone pic. It looks really hot damn back it up and twerk it good....but its just really good.
