First off... service was excellent, friendly, attentive enough, clearly willing to do the extra to make the customers happy.
I did what I usually do at a BBQ spot, order a sample of most of the meats and a couple sides.
Brisket had good beef flavor with just enough smoke and was moist, but was chopped. I prefer slices of brisket. It better shows off the craft of making a good brisket.
Chopped pork had little flavor but was really moist. With sauce on a bun with slaw it would make a good sandwich.
Ribs had little flavor beyond the smoke. Other than the edge piece they were tender and moist. But to be decent they needed sauce.
And speaking of sauce. Brown Jerry's has a really good tomato based sauce. Works well with all their offerings.
The sausage was the highlight here. Great flavor, perfect smoke and delicious with and without that sauce.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tim H.Tulsa, OK01320Mar 7, 2024
Let's just say fantastic local establishment. I loved the vibe here and the blues music in the background was excellent. The pork steak was a special today and smoked nicely, the coleslaw passed the KFC standard and was delicious. But the star of the show was clearly the cornbread soufflé! It was moist and delicate and I'm not sure what was in the buttery mixture maybe brown sugar or honey. I have to say I could eat that for a living!
Stop in you won't be disappointed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 16, 2023
My wife and I went to Jerry's for a early dinner. We got the onion rings as an appetizer. Well done and perfect! Dinner for me was a 3 pc chicken dinner special . It came with 2 sides: mashed potatoes with brown gravy and a small container of Cole slaw. I thought both were good. If you don't like a few potato skins in the mashed potatoes-beware. But I loved them. The slaw was pretty good too.
My wife was interested in chicken too but doesn't like chicken on the bone. So the waitress was very accommodating and was allowed to order an item not on the menu-adult chicken tenders dinner. They do have a kids meal of tenders. These were cooked perfectly and her one side that was part of the meal was their "famous" Mac and cheese. I say famous because other Yelpers have mentioned how great it was. I tried this and YES it is wonderful.
The server, I believe her name was Dawn was very quick on the drink refills and supplied some friendly banter between trips to the table.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 15, 2023
On our Midwest food tour and couldn't pass up the opportunity of visiting Brown Jerry's owned by former NFL player Jerry Holloway.
On any given day you can find Brown Jerry welcoming folks outside on the bench or sharing a beer with local patrons inside.
Located in a small town he has a solid menu.
Lots of food for a great price. Two of us ate for $45 and had leftovers.
You have to try his cherry wood smoked brisket, juicy turkey, sausage and that cornbread soufflé and Mac n cheese are a southern girl bbq dreams.
Restrooms are clean, bar is fully stocked, inside and outside seating and an entertainment stage makes this spot a "must visit". Mr. Holloway was the cherry on top on our visit.Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - Douglas G.TX, TX02538Jan 28, 20241 check-in
Well heck! I was all excited to try this place out and was not impressed for the first go around. Will be back to try other items but the brisket had no flavor and no smoke to it. The meat was just bland which I was disappointed. The mac and cheese was ok but had better. Another thing that bothered me, is that I told the waitress that it's my first time here and asked if I could try a piece of their sausage since they don't sell it as a al carte. She said no that I would have to purchase a sausage sandwich if I wanted to try it. Most bbq places would let you try a sample since they chop or slice the meat in the back. Again, I will be back again to try other items as I feel I didn't order their best options as the Midwest is know for pork and not beef.

Feels like a local small town restaurant not too far off the interstate. Nice atmosphere and appears very clean. There is a stage, so I'm sure there's live music, but not on Thursday night.
Great beer selection, and good temperature. Food selections are on only 2 pages, with a decent selection but not too intimidating. We ordered a 1.5 lb 3 meat plate and had crawfish cakes to start. The appetizer was tasty with just a bit of heat. Good option to try.
The meat platter was a lot of food. Sausage was awesome, pulled pork very good, but I've had better brisket. On he sides, the baked beans were good, but it was not homemade potatoe salad.
If you're camping at the local KOA or wrapping it a day at six flags, this place is well worth a visit.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Hamishe B.Saint Louis, MO672Dec 30, 2023

Brisket nachos
Brisket nachos were excellent. Pork steak was thick cut and juicy. Sides were good and service by Renee was outstanding. Looking forward to returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael E.Thief River Falls, MN012Dec 17, 2023
We were looking for a locally owned place to eat, while we were traveling, and we found Brown Jerry's. We will go out of our way to come back here again, as the food was tremendous, and the service was wonderful!

We made a day trip out to Meramec Caverns and stopped for dinner on a Saturday night-- the place was hopping! Everyone there seemed to know each other and at first we felt out of place not being locals. But Jerry the owner stopped by our table with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. No spoilers (check out the wall plaques) but this guy is like a local celebrity and is still so humble and friendly. Then there's the food which was fantastic! I had the crawfish cakes and brisket mac and cheese and took home Bread Pudding for dessert. All was very tasty and giant portions-- I'd go 4 stars on the food and 3 on the dessert just because it was a little too dense for my liking. But 5 stars for the overall experience. Some meals you just know you're going to remember for a long time!
