Bowie Town Barbers

I'm typically intimidated when I enter a barbershop, however to my surprise as I entered this barbershop I was greeted by a warm welcome. There were no barbers available to cut my hair immediately I made an appointment for later that afternoon, again as I entered the 2nd time I was acknowledged and directed to the barber chair. I got my hair cut, it was a great experience and Kristi took great care of me.

I still cut my hair for the most part, but for special occasions (especially this holiday season), I do seek professionals. I have been coming to this location for about half a year now for the weddings I have attended, the holidays, and special trips. The barber shop itself has nothing that makes it stand out, but it's clean, it has some flat screen TVs and there is always good conversation going on. I do enjoy the family feel that it gives off, as all the customers seem to be regulars and are always wishing each other well.

Art is the barber my friend recommended, and he has cut my hair every time so far. Honestly I have not been disappointed by each turn out. He definitely knows what he's doing, and he is always around at the time I schedule. I occasionally have to wait a couple minutes for him to finish up with the person before me, and if he is ever running late he texts me to let me know. That's much appreciated! I will continue to support Art and this establishment for my occasional special events as long as I am around here.

Very good barbershop. Went in for a haircut and they took care to ensure my hair was cut properly.

I've been going to Bowie Town Barbers consistently for about five years now. Although I've moved from Bowie, I keep coming back so that I can get my cut from Art Hood.

He is personable, professional, and gets to know his clientele. He is always available via text to schedule a quick appointment. The cuts I get are top notch and I like that he knows just how I want my haircuts.

I will for sure keep coming back to Art at Bowie Town Barbers!

Bowie Town Barbers is the best hairstylist around. My favorite is Kristi Toney, who's been styling my (older white male) hair for several years now. I'm very particular, but I never have to give Kristi any instructions. She gets it perfect every time. She considers herself an artist at her trade, and she really is. She's friendly, reliable, keeps regular hours, and reasonable. A real find!

I've tired this place multiple times different barbers every time and I've always been disappointed. Here you're just another client quick cash. Unless you personally know a barber don't even bother they look at you with interest in cutting your hair. Sorry but this is the last time I'll ever go back.

Most of the previous reviews are a few years old. I went to this place yesterday 7/2/2019 as a walk-in. Believe you me, I will never go back. Its dirty (not talking about old school style barber shop cause that does equate to dirt). All the barbers were dirty and scruffy looking, except for the female whose chair was close to the door. My barber was very unprofessional in his chairside manner, stopping while cutting to stand in the common area watching and commenting on sports. My haircut was okay, he but too much off the top. Why would the owner represent his business this way with unkept looking employees. Come on, today, nowadays, customer service is looked at very seriously. Please clean up this place, the apparatus (chairs, mirrors, etc), and staff

This shop has great barbers, but unfortunately it lacks professionalism. Appointments are not kept on time and when I recently walked in to discuss an issue with the manager concerning the inability to schedule adequate appointments with one of his barbers, there was no accountability taken. I was never asked about the issue I was having as the consumer and they didn't seem to care much. The first barber offered me her card and was cordial while the individual who supposedly runs the shop offered no solution. I have always strived to support black businesses but this is one that needs to be restructured starting from those in charge. As a consumer you want your money to be spent at a place that cares about how you feel and takes care of you. This place will not do that.

To be fair to the other barbers, I won't give this 1 stars, because I'm sure I just got unlucky with who happened to be open when I walked in. I asked for a fade on the sides and to trim A QUARTER off the top.

I will say, the fade on the sides was pretty clean. He did a really good job there. But when he was done and showed me that mirror I was mortified. Dude LEFT maybe a third instead of REMOVING a quarter. A year of growth gone just like that. Honestly, if I had just gone in there to get a fade, and leave the top, it would've been five stars. He was fast and good. The thing is, when I ask most barbers for a trim, they'll trim a little, show it to me, and ask if I want more. Repeat until I have my desired length, that way there's no possibility of a misunderstanding.

This was the guy on the left side of the room, with glasses, headphones, and a full beard. Maybe longer hair isn't his strong suit, I get that. But at least make it abundantly clear, or take the proper precaution to make sure I don't get screwed over.

I took my 10 year old here last week and now he has razor bumps. My son has never had razor bumps after a hair cut EVER!! This is absolutely ridiculous. I WILL NEVER SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!
