A taste of home and always on point with the Picanha the pastel de carne is great too! Love the atmosphere and service!! Check out the new truck
The pasteis we're absolutely delicious. Coxinhas were also great. Brigadeiros were pretty good. I want to come back soon and try the picanha plate.
I walked in 100 degree weather for this food truck and it was worth it! I ordered the yuca fries, cheese empanada, chicken croquettes, and the mango juice and I am extremely happy with all of it. The cheese empanada had a lot of cheese. It was not one of those empanadas with a lot of air and barely any cheese. The sauce for the yuca fries was really good. I definitely recommend eating here and I would go back myself! The staff was very friendly and they had great service. I also love the bright yellow color of the truck. Tip: order the food "for here" and they will give you a little Brazilian flag
First time having Brazilian food from a food truck. My experience was a great one. The guys who work the truck are friendly and treat you like an important customer. I strongly recommend starting with their cream cheese filled croquetas with extra cilantro mayo on the side. Make sure to order this first since they are highly popular and may run out! I also enjoyed their hot Yukon fries! For my main course, I really liked their all meat bowl which comes with pork chicharon, beans, steak, rice, etc. It's a heavy load that'll satisfy you! I suggest taking some hot sauce and drizzling over the meat for some extra flavor and spice. The bowl itself will run about $11-$13 and is well worth it. This truck can get packed up so make sure to set aside a good time and come later in the evening or early to reserve yourself a seat at the bench.
Our first time in Austin and our first time to try out a food truck. I went with Yelp reviews and found this place. I ordered 3 appetizers: the fried yuca, the cheese empanada, and that round fried thingy with shredded chicken and cream cheese plus a Brazilian soda and it was a whopping $20 for the really small servings. I'm not sure if that's what food truck prizes are in Austin (I really can't compare it with Houston) but if that's the going rate then I probably would avoid eating in food trucks! Flavor-wise, they nailed it. My picky kids have never had any of these items but they ate it like pros. It was only until my husband told them yuca is cactus that they seem to have regretted eating it! But I'm glad they gulped them all down!
I really love Austin's food truck scene (definitely better than NY's). My husband & I originally wanted a snack before going to Perry's (but ended up w/ a meal), so we yelped and found Boteco. We love Brazilian food, and when we saw all the good reviews they had - we came here right away. The staff was so friendly, nice and very catering. The atmosphere was also very laid back (w/ soothing brazillian music playing in the background), w/ tons of seating areas. I also like how they present their foods to their customers (served in a metal plate w/ a small Brazilian flag sticking out). We ordered to share: 1) yucca fries & 2) the steak rice special. The owner was so nice, he gave us a complimentary croquette ball. The yucca fries were outstanding, one of the best yucca fries we had. It was so crunchy on the outside & nicely textured on the inside. It was also well seasoned too & the sauce it came with complimented the yucca fries well. The steak rice special was delicious too - steak was tender, nicely seasoned and delicious, & so was the rice w/ beans & fried egg. The complimentary croquette ball was also super delicious as well. Everything was super delicious and beautifully presented. Customer service was outstanding, and the outdoor dining environment was ideal. Obrigado (for the delicious food and the hospitality)! Since coming back to NYC, I wish we had a boteco food truck here.
Nota dez! (In Portuguese, that means 10 on a scale of 1 to 10!) Boteco is the Brazilian food truck at Revival Coffee house. The owners are Mineiran. Mineiran food is some of the best in Brazil although the dishes here are intentionally pan-Brazilian. The menu is small. Servings are even smaller. This is in contrast to Brazil where they generally load you up with food. (Fried Yucca portions are particularly miniscule.) But in return for small servings, you get food that is WOW WOW WOW. Key point. Everything is home made. This is important because a lot of what they serve here could in theory be obtained frozen from commercial vendors. Where do you think your Gyoza come from in a Japanese restaurant? Boteco takes the high road and makes everything from scratch. The Botecans are super-good cooks. Their personal versions are significantly better than average. Keep an eye out for their sauces. Most cooking Mineirans make a home-made hot sauce. The Boteco version of same is very very good. Put it on everything. They also do a their own Chimichurri. (Not a particularly Brazilian thing, but it is what they do.) This is another winner and fantastic on the Brazilian dishes coming out of the kitchen. Their star dish is a coxinha. This is a fried cone of a Cornish Pasty style shell, filled with flavored chicken and soft Brazilian cheese. This is available at bars and food stands everywhere in Brazil, generally in frozen commercial form. Their version beats the commercial version six goals to zero. Their cones are smaller. However, the chicken is tastier and the melted cheese is to die for. Amazing by itself and utterly insane with the hot sauce on it. They also have french fried yucca (in Brazil, mandioca frita). Mandioca frita is like sex. It is one of the basic pleasures of life. My trips to Brazil are basically movements from one plate of Mandioca frita to the next one, with cachaca drinks on the side. Everyone's mandioca frita is good, but Boteco's mandioca frita is on the upper side of good. Dipped in the chimichurri - it is even finer finer finer. Mix this with the lovely views available at Revival Coffee, and the Hammocks for digesting your food after everything is over ... And you have a winning formula. What do they need to go to the next level? Real Mineiran specialties would move them to the god-like level of Texas BBQ trucks. Brazilian street food needs beer or it needs cachaca drinks. This might require a bigger kitchen or a liquor license. But these elements together and you could have one of the best restaurants in the city. I say, Yelpers, eat here a lot and fill Boteco's cash registers. We need these folks to go brick and mortar as soon as possible.
I paid $15 for a dish at a food truck! I felt like that was ridiculous pricing. I agree that it was good and pretty authentic, and they're unique to serve and present South American food. However, it still does not seem to warrant that price. I thought our dish should have been $10-$12. On top of that, we maybe waited ~25-30 minutes for our food. Definitely a tad disappointed since we came seeing the 5 stars from Yelp. At least, I got to experience the Brazilian food scene.
My god, this place is absolutely phenomenal. Just a few menu items, but they do all of them very well. The simpler the menu, the usually better focus and quality of the food. Boteco is located in a nice lot paved with some stones and is always blaring some awesome South American music (makes the ambiance quite fun). The cook was super nice and I asked him some questions about the food and he was happy to spend the time and chat with us (A+++ for service). Now on the food, I had the yucca fries and the Picanha bowl. Hands down, some of the best fries I've ever had. The fat they fry it in must be something special because these fries were sublime! The texture of the outside to the inside was absolutely spot on. Crunchy exterior to fluffy interior. I don't think I can eat any other fries the same anymore. The Picanha bowl was freaking amazing. All the elements just jelled together. Meaty goodness with some beans, breadcrumbs, and some veggies made me beyond happy. Top an egg and you've got a perfect bowl. I will be back for sure if I'm craving South American food!
Food and service were incredible! We came in right before they closed and they served us immediately!
Absolutely delicious! I'm all about the coxinha's, yuca Fry's and the cheese empanada's. so the place is super hidden and tucked away with 2 other trucks. The guy at the truck was very friendly and good at explaining what your getting. The parking isn't great but it's totally worth it! Also the price for the quantity of food doesn't add up but then again where else can you find Brazilian food for a good price. Trust me it's worth it super good try it out!!!
Second time going to Boteco and both times were delicious. The signature dish of rice, beans, egg and rare steak never fails to deliver. Savory, tender and flavorful. The dish has a variety of ingredients besides the ones I listed, making it never boring to eat. A little pricey at $14 but worth it knowing that its cooked to order. The chocolate truffle was also delicious but slightly pricey for what it is ($2).
Got the Steak Special. Steak was nicely charred and moderately tender. Comes with fresh grilled onions, rice, and beans. I was happy with the blend of salty, savoury, and herbacious Brazilian flavors. The amount of beef for this price was great. The beef was executed at 80%. Good but not great.
One of my favorite food trucks in Austin. Owners are super friendly. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The house special is a must!
I shared the yucca fries, the coxinhas, and the main entree with my boyfriend. The yucca fries were definitely the best part of the meal. We could tell they were freshly made and soooo good; I would definitely get these again. Both the coxinhas and the steak in the main entree were incredibly oversalted for our tastes. However, the owners are super nice and talked to us for a bit about Brazil, the food, and their new second location! I would recommend this if you're trying something new.
Went here because of the yelp reviews. I was severely disappointed. Food took almost an hour to come out. Got the Brazilian steak and it was ok at best. The croquettes were the reason I'm giving two stars. They were good and came out quickly. There are much better places in Austin.
Girlfriend and I came here because we saw it by Vintage Heart the other day. I would give this a 4.5, but what's holding me back from a full five is that there is only one entree. It's a steak plate with beans, rice and pico. We ordered the yuca fries as well for appetizer and a cranberry ginger ale. To start, the cooks were nice and welcoming. Even on a cold, cloudy day, they still smiled and were happy. We ordered the fries, soda and house special. Do not order the soda, it's $3 for a 12 oz can. The yuca fries were very satisfying. They weren't overcooked, or dry to eat. Rather, it was smooth and salted just right. It came with aioli sauce, which was creamy and had a hint of lime. Would order again. $5 The steak plate is shareable for two small people. Luckily, my girlfriend and I were able to share this. The steak was seasoned just right, garnished with caramelized onions. Cooked at medium rare, it was a flavor I hadn't tasted since fogo. Beans were average. Rice was actually great. And this comes from an Asian who eats rice maybe 8 times a week. Pico added a good balance to the steak, as it was sour and sweet. $14 Would recommend, would come again.
Still awesome. It's amazing there's no lines here on a Saturday lunch when the food is this amazing. The menu isn't huge but all you need is some picanha and some yucca fries and you're good to go. The steak has an amazing crust and seasoned beautifully with the salt they put on it. The rice, beans and farofa will fill you up and the salsa adds a nice fresh note. The runny egg adds an extra dimension as if it was an extra sauce. The coxinha are pretty good too - fried chicken croquettes that are filled with seasoned chicken meat, fried to perfection and comes with chimichuri aioli and a hot sauce. They're a bit on the small side, but make a good appetizer. The yucca fries here are still I think best I've had anywhere - extra crunchy outer crust with a supremely creamy inside. Don't know how they do it but its so worth it. Easily the best steak lunch you can get in austin for the price so come over here already and grab some food!
Excellent... Even with todays cold weather. The food was delicious... My favorite where the Coxinhas.. However everything we tasted was delicious and of course the service was phenomenal as well... Mango juice was so good and those little peppers on the picanha they pack a punch.. Thank you for the recommendations and the excellent service Carlos... Will definetely come back soon
