I love Boss Tweed's - plain and simple.

This Fall I joined an intermural sports league and we went every week for 6 weeks. It was perfect. Great prices, the bartending knew and remembered us and they have karaoke.

Boss Tweed's is one of those places where you probably wouldn't take a second look if you were walking past it. Seemingly nothing on the outside, it's actually a pretty sweet dive bar. The only reason why I found out about it was because I signed up for a 90's-themed bar crawl and this was one of the registration locations. Anyway, it's a no-frills spot with an arcade game in the back, great music, decent service, and good prices (but that's probably thanks to the crawl).

A shoutout to the bouncers too, they were pretty awesome.

Pretty good happy hour here - $2 PBRs, $2 Rolling Rock, $3 Bud & Bud Lights, $4 drafts and well drinks. They have Shock Top here and bar trivia here Wednesdays at 6:30.

I like that they open up the front windows in the summer and they have a small but kind of nice outdoor patio all the way in the back. They also have a punching bag machine and a basketball arcade thing (which makes A LOT of noise when in use!) and a beer pong table that they'll set up for you if you ask nicely.

The bartenders here are cool and friendly. Bouncers are too. No attitudes or ego here which is great. My only gripe is their clientele. I feel as if there are always large-ish groups of really douchey and obnoxious people. If people are annoying sober then imagine them plastered. Granted this isn't always the case, but it's been the case the last 3 times (not in succession) that I've done their Wednesday Trivia Nights.

In all, it's not an awful bar and they do let you bring in food (or have food delivered) so that's cool...but I don't come here unless I want outdoor patio-ness or unless I'm with company I like and we're pregaming to go elsewhere.

great dive bar in the middle of all the fanciness that delancey now offers. They even had a live band when i was there last.  It was great when Erin was here (that awesome bartender), but i hear she's departed for the west coast. I havent been back since, but of course i will return when im in the area.

    thanks!

I never have a bad time at Boss Tweed's. It's never empty but it's not like the East Village dive bars, filled with drunk NYU students, where you can barely move.

I've been here a couple of times and the most recent, there was a guy handing out flyers out front - which was kind of weird. But then my friend and I realized that they were 2 for 1 drink coupons!

Oh and they have BEER PONG. Doesn't get any more college than that. We only won one game but I guess that game we happened to win was the one that dethroned the champions. So we were almost like celebrities for the rest of the night. It didn't even matter that we lost miserably to another team after that.

I think I'm coming up to my last years where it's still socially acceptable for me to be going to a dive bar like this. So I guess I better squeeze in a last few games while I still can!

"Both:  I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
    'Til I found the truth
And I owe it all to you

Girl:  With my body and soul
I want you more than you'll ever know

Boy:  So we'll just let it go
Don't be afraid to lose control

Girl:  Yes I know what's on your mind
    When you say:
    "Stay with me tonight.' "

For a happy ending to a Sunday after fulfilling six hours at my workplace, followed by a moving yet celebratory poetry open-mic readings five fellow poets wanted to continue the laughter and poetic spirit.  With much hestiation I agreed to "stay with them tonight" for one Cosmopolitan, as four men with one woman is every ladies' dream!  I need not to share nor be jealous being the only lady with four men.  Our rowdy poetic group of five saluted Saturday open-mic readings at Otto's Shrunken Head where we all met.  Five prolific poets indulge on one drink each cheering on myself and my new poet husband.  "The time of my life" indeed for being the life of the after-open-mic reading as the four veteran poets of open-mic readings learned more about me as I've learned of them.

Boss Tweed's is a bar with a pool table at the back room near the facilities.  Patrons beware you'll be playing "guess which door" to the men and women facilities respectively, as I, myself admittedly walked into a broom closet!  (Boss Tweed's two facitious facilities door are both larger than poor Harry Potter's cupboard/broom closet).  Boss Tweed does not offer business cards.  N.B.  This bar dutifully checks for valid photo identification as they legally obliged to New York State law of "must be 21 and above."

The entry-way is ample space for patrons to dance and root rowdy for their sports team from the TV screens.

This place deserves less than 1 star

it's smells like vomit and spoiled beer.

there's mold inside the ice machine, which is why they have a B and not an A in the window... it was never fixed.

the liquor in the bottles is not what it's labeled as, have fun paying for that $10 well vodka or well tequila.

the owners are super racist, they fired every person of color working there, people that were there for years and kept the only white males they had who had been there months.

the owners want to drive out the "ghetto clientele" their words.. by that they mean the people of color from the neighborhood who kept the place going

***A warning to anyone that is thinking of visiting this bar***

This past weekend they lost my friend's credit card. When I non-violently insisted the that they find the credit card so we could leave, the owner of the bar lost his patience and punched me in the face. After falling off the chair onto the floor, 3 bouncers forcefully dragged me out. My lip is busted and there is a huge lump on the back of my head. Though my friend and I were tipsy and my friend did try to come around the counter to help find the credit card, I never raised my voice, I was never aggressive, and I never touched him. This is unacceptable behavior for any owner of a business and I will never go back to this establishment.

Look, I get this place is a dive bar. I get it. But they had like, three of the six or seven beers on the tap available, the bartender kept saying he'd change the TV channel for us then wandering away and puttering around the place instead of it, and the place looked like a burnt-out wasteland. I didn't expect/want anything fancy but...

Since we were there to watch the thing the bartender kept not putting it on the TV (and he could have just said he wasn't gonna do it, that would have been fine, but dude made me miss the first twenty minutes of the game), we chugged our beers and left. Found another place aroud the corner where they put the game on right away and had more than three beers to choose from - plus had a happy hour.

If super-ultra-divey dive bars are your think you'll probably love it. If you want to do anything but get wasted, go somewhere else.
