abandon all hope of silence, all ye who enter. and the staff does nothing about it. sometimes they're the ones carrying on the conversation with a noisy person.
and the main branch is closed for another five weeks. just great.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 159540757Jul 22, 2021
This location is small compared to the main Altadena branch but they still have a great selection of books for kids and adults. As well as a lot of movies that you're able to check out. There is ample parking and staff is really sweet. I didn't have complaints about the noise. It wasn't dead silent when I went but no one was yelling at the top of their lungs either. They usually had fun activities for children but obviously due to covid things have been cut back. Not sure if they plan to bring those fun activities back. There is also a small computer section in the corner. I enjoy this library and it's a great place to go on Monday's when the main branch is closed. This location is neatly organized. Very kid friendly library. Overall, a great place.

I was a bit disappointed when I initially came to this location. It is a bit loud for a library and does not offer the same amenities as the other library in Altadena. No WiFi printing, and not much of a computer area.
I was however impressed with the activities they offer for children. My son attended a mad science show here once and all the kids were ecstatic. There is a literacy program here that comes highly reviewed.
As a library, it's not great but as a center geared towards helping youth is fair. I would likely not return for library use.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jo F.Carson, CA0772Nov 21, 2019Updated review
Same issue. Literacy tutors are louddddddd They seriously need to send them somewhere else to tutor. The tutor in this picture is here today talking on her cell phone about tacos and how her neighbors are rude while the student waits for her to finish her personal convo. She has been speaking out loud tutoring as if she's at Starbucks or at her home where being loud mouth is ok.

She stays here for about 2 hours or more and is so loud! She barely tutors. Most of the conversation is about their personal life and not about tutoring the client. I understand this is a small library but this is unacceptable to allow her to tutor her student(s) and to talk out loud with no consideration for others. I also understand libraries today are sometimes not 100% quiet like before but to allow a full on tutoring session(s) to go on out loud in the portion of the library where people come to study, read and do homework is so unprofessional. Go to a coffee house where the noise is as loud as your mouth.

Went for the first time today for a baby art activity for Halloween. The staff was nice, and it was a fun activity for my baby. I love how cozy and family friendly this library is. It's not a typical, quiet library, since it caters more to children rather than adults who want to read/study.

They have friendly staff that work there. They always come up with fun and educational kids events and kids activities. Kids can access abcmouse.com

If you are looking for an environment that is quiet, this library is not it. The staff is friendly, but they do nothing to encourage a quiet place to work. This is by far the loudest library I have ever entered.
