7/26/2022This is my favorite seafood place in San Diego. They always have a long line. The tip is comes in early to beat the crowd. Only street parking is available.
Get in line, and place your order with the cashier. She will hand you a number sign to place on your table. Another server will seat you/ your party at a table.
I ordered swordfish with lemon garlic butter salad with blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese salad dressing is homemade. It was very rich, and it went very well with the salad. The swordfish was well made that it was not over cooked, and was a perfect match with lemon garlic butter!
We also ordered calamari. This is the best calamari I have ever tried! Great texture, dipping source, and flavorful! Highly recommend calamari as appetizer. - Vivien C.San Diego, CA687023
7/2/2022Updated review2 Tips:
For the 'I always check your food when leaving a restaurant crowd': they 'check' the food against the receipt, tape/sticker each of loosely closed type containers, and shut and then tape the bag . You can 1. Open it outside and learn why they tape it in your car drive home. 2. shred through it in front of them on the only counter and hold up the line. 3. know to bring a Tupperware, tape, or leak proof bags on arrival so you can open everything up completely.
For the no worry you get a refund (for errors) crowd: They most certainly do not freely provide. Be prepared to be hassled for a long time on the phone with multiple attempts to be talked out of said refund and returning to the store, repeatedly declining, and being pleaded with to give them another shot just because. How a place makes things right is a reason I give 5 stars and we all should since we all make errors. This was an opportunity to show good character and service that went very awry in this case here.
4/30/2022Previous reviewI called this place for 45 minutes and got busy signal. They said the phone wasn't off the hook and I have no proof but I also went in person and waited in line a long time during which there there weren't ANY pick up orders.
Yes! Finally my food is ready. Yay!!!!! Or so I thought... maybe...A worker walks by and calls loudly at extremely long  blonde pony tailed person and an other person at the register that orders are up and one looks & acknowledged her but keeps talking and ignores the food for dine in sitting on the counter (with no hot lamp) . The same worker goes in the kitchen for a couple minutes walks out and now yells to them them the food is up. By this point, two orders are up. They still take their time to finish chatting before going over and the second to-go order one is mine. I get in my car I immediately eat a fry and I is ice cold... probably wasn't hot when it was put up if it is this cold. I think it's fine, I'll reheat them.
I go home to eat and my food is the completely wrong food. It's multiple RARE fish steak tacos and I ordered a halibut sandwich. I have no dinner,  but I spent 2 hours on  getting that food engaged with them the whole time, more adding my travel time. The coleslaw was mediocre and it should have tasted good for how hungry I was.
They gave me a refund so that's why there  is 1 star vs zero. It was $25. I don't make $12.50/hr so I don't know who they think I am or what I make but time is money and that doesn't make it right and it's more time I need to spend to get different food. They know their line is hours long they could at least check the food matches the order (she literally had written in her hand) and did not. Evening blown.
This is such an unfortunate waste of an animals life and I really wish I knew this place had crap quality so I could give the inedible for me food to someone in need/can eat raw fish outside the restaurant before I got home.
Eat elsewhere if you're reading this.
Please don't come here unless you want mediocre 'slaw, ice cold fries, and crap attendee(s) (Except one, cool one), and listen to them play blame game (unprofessional) on the phone they blamed the kitchen, twice with no mention the person deliberately ignoring orders up for an unknown reason. I think it's  her for giving me the wrong food by paying zero attention to what was going on and chatting and chatting even ignoring her coworkers asking her to be attentive, not the kitchen.
I don't wanna come back. I got spoiled with fresh seafood as the norm not the exception growing up in a town/city without knowing it. I still crave it from time to time. If you know of a good, reliable place do tell and I'll appreciate you. - Jessica Z.Rosemead, CA593352
6/2/2022If you are a seafood lover, you MUST come to check out this place. Their food is fresh and tasty, and the price is reasonable.
We ordered oyster, I am not a fan of oyster but I do love their oyster. It taste sweet and not fishy at all. We also ordered Ahi Tuna plate and Salmon Sashimi plate.
The staffs there are very friendly as well. Please note they have a tips jar next to cashier, and do not forget to leave your tips as they deserve it!
For sure I will bring my family and friends come back. - 384891025
8/6/2022If you're in SD, you have to make a stop at Blue Water for some of the best and freshest fish. They offer a great selection of fish to choose from along with the marinade of your choice. I opted for the local white sea bass salad, fish and chips, and clam chowder. You order up front and find a table. Our food came in no time, and I was very pleased with the portions. The clam chowder was tasty and had generous amounts of clam in it. The sea bass was tender and the lemon garlic butter marinade tasted amazing. Also, the vinaigrette I got with the salad was phenomenal. The fish and chips were alright, if I had to recommend anything for newcomers I'd say get a fish salad or plate. You won't be disappointed.

8/1/2022One of the best fish n chips in San Diego!!! The tarter sauce the tarter sauce WOW. I have had my fair share of fish in this city and here beats them all. The freshest fish the most amazing french fries. I can go on and on you need to try it yourself. The hubby's Ahi was so tender his salad was the perfect touch. Words can't express how happy we were after this meal. The prices are a little steep, but you can't beat this taste!!!

6/2/2022My boyfriend and I LOOOOVE Blue Water. We always try to make it out here at least once for lunch when we are in San Diego. Our favorite must is the salad with either the Ahi Tuna, Mahi, and Salmon. All great protein options.
We also really enjoy the fried scallop tacos. I believe they might be a special, since we've only had them a couple of times. Also the 1/2 dozen oysters. You can tell they are so fresh.
Sometimes the line is fairly long, but so worth the wait. This is probably one of my favorite lunch places to go to when visiting San Diego. - 11306353366
5/26/2022My friend recommended this place for seafood, as well as an Uber driver. So we knew we had to check it out! Â This place is notorious for having a line out the door, but luckily, when we got there, the line was pretty short and we only waited about 10 minutes.
If you're into grilled/cooked seafood, this place is for you!
What we got:
- dozen fresh oysters: I'm not sure where these oysters were sourced, but we thought they were quite briny. They don't have freshly grilled horseradish, so that was a little disappointing. Definitely not Water Grill quality on the oysters.
- mussels & clams: They're quite generous on the portion - lots of clams and mussels to go around for the 3 of us! We loved them!
- grilled local halibut sandwich: This was pretty good! I'm usually not a fan of sandwiches, but had to try a bite of it! Very flavorful.
- homemade New England clam chowder bowl: Very tasty. They had forgotten to put in our order, so these took a bit longer.
- blackened fish & chips (but I forgot what fish my friend ordered): full of flavor.
- hard kombucha (grapefruit flavored); honestly didn't know it was a thing - but probiotics and low alcohol content, so it's healthy, right? :P
We had a great time catching up with great food here! - 179139335

Stomach blown!
What's on your plate?
Half a dozen half-shell oysters| clam chowder in a bread bowl | Sesame Ahi T1 |
I have nothing to say other than; it was fresh, it was scrumptious, and it was all gone.
I shall return! - 818186413507
4/21/2022My favorite seafood place in all of San Diego so far. Prices are reasonable, quality is insanely awesome, and almost everything (sauces, soups) all made from scratch.
The line was so long and moved so slowly and realized why when it was our turn. So many decisions to choose from, maybe if the menu was plastered with photos would help on the decision making and ultimately speed things up.
My favorite item was the halibut with ginger butter but everything was top notch delicious.
For sure will be back! - 77261550
5/11/2022Well priced and the seafood is fresh and delicious. I would definitely come back again!
Plenty of tables to enjoy the meal at the location but this place gets busy so plan accordingly. You order first then they seat you based on availability and then they bring you food. I recommend the oysters, muscles, and their scallop tacos!
