It's fine. The food is a little under seasoned and overpriced, but the service is good. Def more for the hip (white) DTLA crowd, but this place is across the street from my apartment so I'll take Viet food where I can.
To the people who are complaining about raw beef that came with their pho, have you had take out pho before? This is normal. You put the raw beef on top of the noodles and pour the hot broth on top to cook it. If the broth is a lil cold, just microwave it. Maybe do a quick Google before leaving a bad Yelp review?
I feel like this is a struggle of Blossom. Uninformed clientele, but they have to cater to them.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 1 - Pasinee J.Los Angeles, CA489492Jul 18, 2022
Chill restaurant for easy lunch, food comes out super quick
Banh Xeo Chay - Vegetarian Crepe : the crepe itself is yummy and crispy, the filling can use a bit more salt and seasoning
Bun Tom, Bo nuong, Vermicelli Rice Noodles with shrimp and grilled lemon grass steak : 3.5/5 all is good, but the sauce for the noodles can be better, maybe more fish sauce or vinegar? Not sure the sauce didn't taste of much, but the grilled steak was so tasty so it makes up for the sauce,
If the sauce was better i would come back but overall 3/5
They have vegetarian optionsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 5, 2021
The food was delicious, while it lasted. Probably the best tasting pho (one original with filet mignon and tendon, also two seafood including crab and mussels), also while it lasted.
Less delicious with the norovirus food poisoning experience that happened the day after. Especially less delicious while clutching the basin and sitting for days on the toilet.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 4, 2019
This long-standing Vietnamese restaurant has been in downtown LA since 2006 and I had this place bookmarked at least 5+ years ago. They opened few additional locations across LA during the past 10 years, but I recently had a chance to visit this original Blossom location. Parking isn't exactly a fun experience in this part of neighborhood, but there's a parking garage across the street (right next to KazuNori - $5 for 90 minutes) or you can find free metered parking after 8 PM (I parked two blocks away from the restaurant, but not everyone would feel comfortable walking in downtown LA during nighttime.) Apparently the restaurant has two different entrances with two separate dining areas that aren't connected to each other. I just walked in without any reservation and sat next to the glass window side without having to wait.
Menu: Their one-page menu is pretty straightforward. You can find your typical Vietnamese rice dishes, noodle soups, and appetizers; however, the selection is somewhat limited and you will have to pay more than $10 for any rice dish or noodle soup.

#3 Goi Cuon or Spring Rolls (fresh rice paper rolls, rice vermicelli, fresh herbs, peanut sauce - bo cuon or grilled beef, 2 rolls for $6): Spring rolls didn't taste too fresh and they had an exotic aftertaste. Dipping sauce wasn't too bad and it had this savory sweet and sour aftertaste with a spicy kick. Flavors from dipping sauce weren't good enough to the point that I started to go crazy in love.
#31 Pho Dac Biet (combination: rare steak, brisket, tendon & tripe, $12): You know pho doesn't taste good when broth tastes bland and brisket doesn't taste super fresh & tender. I was not a fan of Pho Dac Biet because what I just described happened that very night.
***
Normally I would probably give this place a 3-star if prices are reasonable enough, but it was a sub-par experience once you consider the hassle to park and $10+ for mediocre pho.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Hien L.Los Angeles, CA532119Sep 23, 2021
**Food might be good, but I don't know since I was never served**
I was excited to bring my coworker here for some Vietnamese food. We arrived at 6:30, ordered 3 dishes (banh xeo, pork chop and pho)
Appetizer came out after 10 minutes, which was good. 30 minutes later the waitress told us they are out of Pork Chop. Out of food at 7:15 when you open at 5:30? Literally the table next to us ordered the same thing and they were served. Okay.. so we asked about the remaining dish, which is PHO. She said "it's coming" and 15 mins later still no food.
An hour for a bowl of pho ^^
We decided to get the check. Waitress apologized and said because there was only one cook that day. Girl there were 4 people including us in the restaurant. and please explain why the people that came after us already finished their food while we were still waiting for ours? And she was preparing for take out orders :/
She was cold and seemed to not welcome us from the beginning. When we walked in she was sitting in one table texting. Never checked on us, even when we said the appetizer was good she didn't say anything and walked away.
Didn't say anything mean to her, left a tip but definitely would not recommend. I can tell you right now 50 places that have better Viet food and service. Just don't waste your time here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Candace T.Santa Ana, CA492195Feb 24, 2022
It's such a hit or miss. Depends on who is working and their hours are the worst.
We prefer in person dining versus take home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 57238447Jun 19, 2018
In DTLA and looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisines? Blossom will hit the spot for your pho, bun, ca ri, and com cravings! I brought some coworkers along and now they are hooked on Vietnamese food because of this restaurant.
It's always tough to try and find real Vietnamese food in DTLA as there's so few and far, with a lot of them not being owned by Vietnamese. This place is Vietnam itself. I ran into one of the owners on a Thursday afternoon and he was super friendly and gave me one of those viet friendly family vibes.
I come here for Pho and Bun (Vermicelli) as it's pretty authentic! I'll vouch for it since I'm of Vietnamese / Chinese decent. There's an interesting dish I recently tried, which was the Mi Thit Kho (Egg Noodles with Braised Pork and Bok Choi) and although this dish is normally prepared in a clay pot--this was a refreshing modern take on it!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 600305377Feb 2, 2021
Great place and amazing food! I have only had their vermicelli bowl, but the portions are great and the flavor was amazing. I would suggest more lime and more veggies for my preference but it is still really good!

Comfort food. Shaken beef was excellent-the lemon with pepper was simple yet delicious sauce for the steak. Salad was light and refreshing.
Liked how their combo pho had tripe and tripe. The soup is not super rich nor flavorful but it was but it was better than average!
Loved the large windows and seeing crowds enjoying their noodles. everyone eating pho in a small space reminded me of my visit to Vietnam.
Servers are quiet yet attentive and helpful.
I've never been to a restaurant where they are always cleaning-they take cleanliness very seriously!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Sep 12, 2007Previous reviewYummy, Affordable ^^
Can't go wrong with this place.
Must try: Shrimp Spring Roll, Combination Pho, Shaking Beef.
Menu is small but excellent selection of food. - Jan 3, 2017
Heard some good things about Blossom. Walked by this place a billion times in the past years but was never in the mood to try. I finally had the courage when I was craving shaking beef. Got ourselves a patio table, great people watching. Mostly weirdos trekking thru Main Street.
I ordered the Shaking beef that came with a scoop of rice, side salad and maybe 8 ounces of tender beef. Seasoned with pepper, marinated, and topped with sautéed onions, I was hoping I'd get the sweet and salty taste of a typical Shaking beef. I guess not. The good thing is that it was tender. For $17, I was expecting more.
Not sure if I'd come back. I'd rather go to Little Sister if I'd spend that muchHelpful 57Thanks 0Love this 51Oh no 0
