Big Buddha

Big Buddha - Standard-Bistrorant mit vietnamesisch-südostasiatischer Küche im ehemaligen Kastanienhof. Bis auf wenige Asia-Deko-Elemente blieb die einfache Gaststätte unverändert, eher zweckmäßig als einladend-gemütlich.

Der selbsternannte "Tempel der Köstlichen Harmonie" spart auf seiner informativen Homepage nicht mit schönen Worten, trägt dabei aber vielleicht ein wenig dick auf. Immerhin ist die komplette Speise- und Getränkekarte einsehbar.

Zu Gemüse, Reis oder Nudeln werden meist Geflügel (Huhn / Ente), Meeresfrüchte oder Rindfleisch angeboten. Sehr gut: auch einige vegetarische Gerichte, die übersichtlich gekennzeichnet sind. Getränke-Highlights: hausgemachte Limonaden, vietnamesisches und thailändisches Bier.

Ich hatte Bodhi (Erwachen, Erleuchtung): Knuspriges Hühnerfleisch auf einem Gemüsebett mit Reis und (schön sämiger) Erdnuss-Soße. Eine schmackhaft-leckere gute Portion und mit 8,50€ auch zu einem üblichen Preis.

Ein paar Zusatzinfos: Das Big Buddha bietet Take-Away und Lieferservice an, keine Reservierungen unter vier Personen, Kartenzahlung ab einem Betrag von 15€, Doggy Bag Verpackung wenn man seine Reste mitnehmen möchte 50 Cent, Lokal schließt bereits um 21:30.

Für mich ein eher schlichtes Lokal, das mit Standardgerichten zu fairen Preisen und freundlichem Service immer in Frage kommt, wenn man mal schnell Lust auf Asia-Küche hat. Ich brauche allerdings aus dem benachbarten Rüsselsheim nicht extra herzukommen, denn auch hier gibt es Gaststätten auf ähnlichem Niveau.

What a lovely restaurant, with a warm family feel. This is a place where locals gather to have a few drinks over great food. My wife and I stumbled across the Big Buddha as we were forced to stay at the NH hotel up the street, as our flight was cancelled. After having to eat the horrendous food at the hotel, we decided to venture out.

I had the Pho Bo, and my wife had a spicy dish with king prawns, that may have been more Thai than Vietnamese.
The staff, and I'm assuming they are also the owners are very friendly. I strongly recommend the big Buddha whether looking for a great meal, or for drinks.

The food is okay depending what you order. The spring rolls and samosas were very good. The curries were not even average. The service was really good until 9:20 when the manager decided that it was closing time and put all the chairs on the tables and stopped the ambient music and really was trying to get us all out .
All in all decent but get out before 9 pm

A gem! What a lovely find, having missed a connecting flight, to enjoy a fine home cooked Vietnamese dinner. Healthy food, fresh ingredients, timely and pleasant service, with cute decor to boot. Great food at very reasonable prices.
