      Updated review

We have been eating at Big Al's since we first started visiting Sitges in 2013.

The restaurant is 30 seconds from the train station, so it's pretty easy to find. Once there you will find the spacious, cool and gorgeous restaurant. Reservations are not required and you can usually get seated quickly, even for larger parties (we had 6 in our party and we're seated immediately).

The service was really great with us being seated and drinks served immediately. The servers are loaded with iPads and took our table order in no time at all, this was a nice touch.

The prices here were very reasonable for the portions you get. I would recommend trying the Mushroom Dijon burger. It's really yummy. Word of warning, regarding size of portions. The small burger is enough for a normal person, the large is huge. Burgers are served pink, so you should let the server know if you want the patties well cooked. Also try the sweet potato fries. They add a bit of sugar and cinnamon to these and they were a real twist on a classic.

Try out the craft beers also, Big Sissy is a nice larger and refreshing after a day baking in the 30° heat.

We just stopped in for some beer. They have some good options on tap. Will definitely go back to try more and eat next time.

Expensive but only compared to other local food places. Totally normal prices if you are from America. Cool place, great staff, fun music and LEGIT food. I got the Patty Melt and it was on point. Good curly fries too. It is kind of cheesy to get American food in Spain but I have been over here for about a month and eaten many amazing things but tonight I just felt like an old school burger and the Patty Melt jumped out at me. Easy to give a 5 star review.

      Bad service
      Bad attitude
The waiter with black curly hair didn't like that we went into an empty restaurant and wanted us sit near the window where it was COLD.
Actually wagged his finger at us to sit where he wanted us to sit and then slammed the menus on the table.
We turned around and walked out slamming the door behind us.
      Never going back NEVER.
      Beware of this place.
I am never negative but this place was beyond real.
      DISAPPOINTING AND NOT FRIENDLY.

I have been to Sitges many times and I have never visited Big Als despite seeing the great reviews on Yelp and TA. They moved to a newer premises in the past year which I think looks more inviting.
The two of us decided it was a night away from tapas so we headed here. Funnily enough, the first thing we saw when we walked in was our two friends sitting down ordering. Great minds think alike!!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We all tried the burgers and the house draft beer. The burgers are wonderful- the best I have eaten in a long time. We were very stuffed at the end with no room for dessert. I am glad that we decided to skip starters too- the burgers are that filling.
I love tapas and wine but sometimes you want a change, and burgers and beer in Big Als is a very tasty and welcome change. Try it - you wont be disappointed.

Favorite American food place! Everything I miss from California I have here! The food is amazing, the ketchup is actually better here than back at home and the staff is very nice. The only probably it's far from Barcelona!

I like this place. They have nice beer! the hamburgers are also tasty and you can choose them with fries or salad. I have been here with the family and on my own. Great place for hamburger lovers and those that enjoy a different beer. Great place every time I have the chance I will come here!

So this is Big Al's. The best in Spain according to one Sitges website that we read. We also read about queues out the door. But, come on, can it really be that good?

We arrived at one, when they opened, but they told us they weren't open yet. The extra walk we took just built up our appetites.

And boy did we need some space!

The Big Al is a big 13-Euros, 4-patties kind of a burger, with minimal salad, a decent amount of melted cheese and some sauce that helps draw out the best of the meat flavour, without drowning it.

The bean burger is also might fine, full of flavour and with great texture. It's a bit crumbly, but we let them off that because bean burgers are hard to hold together and the quality was otherwise high.

Then there were curly fries. For me, curly fries don't cut the mustard. But for my eating partners, they were top notch.

We were done after the burger and fries. No need for anything else and we were glad not to have ordered starters even those coming out of the kitchen looked great.

For drinks, we ordered from the 8-strong craft beer menu and we were not disappointed - fresh, crisp beers hit the spot.

The other clientele were in their 20s and 30s except for one elderly couple who obviously know a good thing when they see it.

Great burgers, but the signature ones are HUGE! The are truly american style, with up to 6 meat patties in one burger!

      - Curly fries were awesome. Some of the best curly fries I've had in a long time, especially in Spain.
      - Pulled pork Nacho's were just what you expect. Awesome. They come with some jalapeños that are proper spicy.
      - They have 4 American craft beers on tap. 1 lager, 1 white beer and 2 IPA's.
      - We had the BBQ and the Delux burgers, both were size "small", but came with 2 patties each! Curly fries were standard.
      - Staff were great and friendly. No bookings/ reservations possible.

All in all, this place is on the cutting edge of the American burger trend in Catalonia.

Great selection, attentive waitstaff, gluten-free food selection was on point, however, it would be nice to have some gluten-removed beers available. I had a burger medium rare with pulled pork and bacon on lettuce and it was fantastic :)
