Bethany Boathouse is a NEW family restaurant offering great food, live entertainment, a full bar, and a casual, fun atmosphere in Bethany, DE. Its unique design was inspired by the historic Indian River Life-Saving Station located in Delaware Seashore State Park. It includes an open-air layout and an impressive circular deck loaded with flat screen TVs that contribute to its casual setting. The kids won't miss out either with the pirate ship play area.

Great fun location in BB....salads & handhelds are delicious; burgers may just be the BEST on the beach!
Extensive beer menu, cool cocktails...attentive staff...Kids playground area, 2 bars = no waiting Definitely worth a visit, guarantee you'll repeat!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lou B.San Francisco, CA06Apr 19, 2024
Great place to go for a drink. Atmosphere was casual and fun. Had live music which was great.
Food was ok. Had the crabcake sandwich and it was sub par.
If you are looking for a great place to have a drink with friends, this is the place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 31, 2023
My friend and I visited Bethany Boathouse on a Sunday (late) afternoon and got seated right away on the patio. The ambiance was pleasant and we arrived just in time for live music! Our server was so nervous but so sweet - I think it may have been her first day. For drinks, we both ordered boozy milkshakes. My friend chose the Aye Aye Captain and I got the one with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey (can't find the name). Both were tasty, but not very boozy - mostly just a vanilla milkshake. However, they do offer floaters for an up-charge.
For food, we shared the Chips and Dips and Lump Crabcakes Platter. The food came out quickly and portion sizes were very generous - we had plenty of leftovers to bring home! The food itself was good but nothing mind-blowing. Would return for the drinks and vibes though!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 22194130Jul 14, 2023
I enjoyed this place. We just drove in to bethany and wanted a quick bite near our hotel. Seating was extremely fast even though it was packed.
We ordered the wings and fries and basically got them in less than 10minutes. Service was super fast and seemed like they sometimes read our minds. I was not expecting this place to be great based off of reviews but I would say go! Never can go wrong with some wings and shrimp :)Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Carlton W.Denver, CO17310Aug 9, 2023
We just had a FANTASTIC dining experience at the Bethany Boathouse
- The menu has more than your typical fried food beach town fare, and the tropical salad had generous slices of mango. The guacamole dip was excellent. Good kids menu too!
- All the staff people were very friendly and our server Zach was very attentive, and understanding when our kids wanted to put the umbrella down, after initially asking for it to be up ( )... he was really nice about!
- Good vibes, good music, and we want to go back for the live music
- Prices were very reasonable given the location, and ingredients were high quality
Only feedback for improvement would be a bit of overuse of single use plastic.
Overall it was a FIVE STAR experience for sure - thank you Bethany Boathouse!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2023
a great place to enjoy drinks. The food is what you would expect, not the best not the worst, but consistent and has something for everyone. I do wish the beer menu was more extensive, but this is a beach restaurant so just pivot to a delicious crush or cocktail.

Let the buyer beware. The staff will hand you happy hour menus, and you will see happy hour specials posted on the walls near the hightops in the bar area, but THOSE DON"T APPLY TO YOU UNLESS YOU SIT AT THE BAR. The wait staff will not tell you that unless you ask, and its not on the signage. They will let you say the words "I want to order this off the happy hour menu" but not tell you that you are not getting that price until your bill comes, and you exclaim "WTF!?!" Its classic bait-and-switch. You have been warned.

Hello Aaron, we are very sorry about the confusion with the happy hour menu. All the posters and happy hour menus have prominently written AVAILABLE AT THE BAR ONLY. We also offer a Sunday funday menu that is similar to the happy hour menu but it is available all day and good throughout the restaurant both at the tables and at the bar. Perhaps this is where the confusion took place. I would be happy to send you a picture if you contact me Tom@Bethanyboathouse.com . We would never want to mislead our guests.

Nice spot close to the beach but the food isn't worth going back for. We had wings, burgers and fish tacos. Nothing special or particularly good. Everything tasted very 'institutional' --like what you'd get at a mediocre chain restaurant. Nothing made from scratch or with much care.
The drinks were okay but the bourbon crush was a miss. Just boozy. Frat house stuff.
Service was fine. We were there early so it wasn't very busy. Manager checked on us which is a nice touch. Waiter was pleasant.
Overall the food and drinks were pretty disappointing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 22, 2023
We went here again this year on our annual visit to Bethany. The service was not bad. The food it seems May have changed. None of us cared for it. I didn't even see anything at our table for 6 that I wanted to take a picture of.

This is kind of a place you end up at, not somewhere you go on purpose. At least in my experience. The atmosphere is hit or miss -- sometimes it's a bunch of fun young people, sometimes annoying young people, sometimes all older people (who can also be pretty cool or mostly lame). So I suppose that speaks to this place's versatility, which is always good, but if you're coming here looking for any particular crowd it's a toss-up.
It's also extremely loud in the outside/pavilion area. Louder than I'd expect for a place that's not closed in.
Their nachos were pretty good and my sister loves their pretzel. The bartenders are cool. I haven't had any of their other food so I can't say if that's worth making a special trip for, but overall every time I've been here was because someone else suggested it or there was nowhere else open. So I guess it's reliable in that sense.
A lukewarm review for a lukewarm place. There's so many restaurants and bars in Bethany that Boathouse can't be one of my first choices, but if someone else wants to go there I won't say no to tagging along.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
