I had the Under the Sea Pasta dish. I enjoyed it. Service was very good. I would come back however, having eaten at the neighboring restaurant last year I would visit it first. More my flavor vs Polish style but I did enjoy it.

We were driving around Lake Superior and the hotel looked like the best option. (It was.) one of the attractions was walking to dinner on-site. Owners, chef and housekeeping staff all very friendly. While pouring the Labatt Blue I ordered, owner said I should try one of the Polish beers. I did; different but good. We both had pasta, I the shrimp primavera from the menu and my wife the special. Both hearty and flavorful; perfect for a raw, damp evening. Next time I would try one of the polish specialties. Omelette and eggs/bacon for breakfast in the morning were excellent, and coffee was plain but very good.

This is an excellent restaurant especially for this remote area! We had the cabbage rolls and pierogi's that were absolutely delicious! Very nice ambiance, good service, casual dress and I highly recommend!

We have not had much Polish cuisine. Since the owners are of Polish heritage we thought the Polish section of the menu would be a good choice and we were extremely pleased with the pierogi Beef rolls and Hungarian potato pancake Main course and a special dessert of fried cheese cake topped with wild blueberries and strawberry with ice cream on top. No doubt the best meal we have had in a long time and very pleasant surroundings and courteous pleasant waiters Who also own the motel. We will be back and recommend this to our Friends. The prices are very reasonable for the exceptional cuisine. House wine was quite good and well priced.

Best Northern Restaurant is aptly named; it's hands down the best restaurant on the north shore of Lake Superior that the beau and I had an opportunity to try during our summer vacation.
The restaurant is on-site at a charming resort with cabins and attached motel rooms, all situated on a downward slope that faces a wooded valley. Large windows overlook a mixed patchwork of trees and the glimmering sheet of a lake, a beautiful slice of the north country framed behind a scattering of square tables. Almost every seat in the restaurant gets a great view, and you may have to fight for who faces the wall or the door.
Best Northern Restaurant isn't very large with probably 10 tables and a bar, which lends it a pleasant intimacy. You feel like a guest at a friend's rather than just another customer in a generic cafe. We enjoyed watching the Summer Olympics opening ceremonies on the large flat screen television as we waited for our orders to be placed. The menu splits between outstanding Polish and Slavic entrees, and more typical Canadian fare. We came specifically for the Polish food. My best friend's mother and father are both first generation Pole-Canadians and I spent many an afternoon eating homemade pierogies and sipping down borscht soup that was nearly ultraviolet. My standards and expectations were high, and Best Northern delivered with flying colours.
The beau ordered a selection of pierogies and I went for the hunter's goulash. We started with summer borscht, a lighter variation of the classic beet soup made with golden beets. From the first spoonful I was blissed out on a delicate array of balanced flavours. Our server was the wife of the couple who run the restaurant, and she bustled in and out of the kitchen delivering all sorts of morsels. We tucked into our entrees with zest, and they did not disappoint! The pierogies were crisp and moist, the cheese practically melting on the tongue. I nearly stole the plate from the beau, if he weren't so intent on enjoying each bite.
Goulash gets a bad rap sometimes for being bland or overly spiced on paprika to disguise the mushy veggies underneath. Not this. It came out with a bit of a crisped crust and the filling sang with just the right balance of paprika. I nibbled on the carrots for a few seconds, then plowed through it as though I spent hours paddling Lake Superior. I finished approximately half and conceded defeat, taking the rest back to our cabin. The hunter's goulash is hearty and decadent, delicious and so very Hungarian. I loved it, and I'm going to reminisce for a few minutes on a great meal.
We finished with a dessert of apple crumble, served up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and two spoons to share. Having fronted the selection of delectables, I assure you this is the way to go. Warm, sweet, and oozing with creamy tartness, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and then direly needed a nap.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Billy F.Platteville, WI013Jul 28, 2019
Absolutely amazing. I got the Polish combo and blueberry pie. They really live up to the "best" in their name.

We drive through Wawa maybe once a year, and over the years have tried to find a decent place to eat. We are thrilled that we have finally found the Best Northern restaurant!!!!! Our search for where to eat in Wawa is over...we never need look further.
We had an excellent meal - pirogies for my husband, and a grilled chicken sandwich with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes for me. Excellent!!!! The owners were very friendly and welcoming - as we're the other diners who chatted with us. It was a wonderful meal in a town where wonderful has previously been hard to find. If you are in Wawa..... This is the place to go!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Stephen M.Grand Haven, MI0965Aug 30, 2015Updated review
This was our second time through - this time with guests - and it lived up to the expectation of the first time! The menu choices are varied and tasty, the prices reasonable, the service friendly and prompt and the overall experience quite the treat. And to top it off, they feature a decant wine list with some excellent choices! This was our second Lake Superior Tour, and if planning another I will base my itinerary on being in the area for dinner again!

When I asked at the front desk of the motel across the street for a recommendation he said park the car and walk across the street...which I was skeptical of. Don't be! The restaurant was incredible. I had a pork schnitzel that was excellent and we split the deep fried cheesecake (please leave a little room for this!). My wife enjoyed a chicken and pasta dish that was perfectly prepared, and the service was top notch. I will definitely come back on future trips, and I can heartily recommend it for you, also!
