Our Food is as authentic as the view because we only use lobster that comes off our pier. Our beef is Maine-raised, and our vegetables are locally grown. On top of the classic Maine lobster dinner and rolls, we will update our menu throughout the season with special dishes - including plenty of gluten-free options.

Maine or Connecticut? Cold or warm? Mayo or butter? The answer is yes!
I purchased a lobster roll pack (for 4) from Beal's Lobster Pier via Goldbelly. It came on my requested delivery date, still cold from ice packs, with soft rolls, a pack of lobster pieces, chips and mayo.
We split the rolls and grilled them in butter, warmed up the lobster, then garnished with mayo. Delicious succulent and sweet lobster. Large pieces, no little tiny bits. Delicious! It felt like we were sitting on the pier in Southwest Harbor, feeling the saltwater breeze and hearing the creak of the moorings.
Someday soon we'll take a trip to the East Coast and savor a lobster roll in person. 'Til then, this was an authentic and tasty way to experience it!Helpful 13Thanks 2Love this 13Oh no 1Business owner information

Ended up here after realizing another lobster place was closed- but it did not disappoint. Stand in line to make your order and they sit you from there- which is interesting. They have a variety outside to order drinks while you wait.
They have so many options- but we got their lobster rolls. I think I got the wrong sauce on mine, but it was actually pretty good! Lots of drink options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2025
Beal's was a very unique restaurant that I think is worth checking out if you're visiting MDI!
I made a reservation in advance & received texts confirming we were still coming, however when we arrived the employee said they were understaffed by 15 for the night so that no one would be able to help us from the second floor upstairs area (where our table was). He offered us to sit in the main seating area which is picnic table style but couldn't guarantee we'd get a full table to ourselves (for 2 of us) but said we could still go to our table upstairs just that it'd be pretty empty. We decided to stick with the upstairs area & I personally liked that no one was up there
I thought it was so cool that you could see the lobster right there as you ordered (you order at a counter then go to your table, something I didn't know before coming) and obviously it was all very fresh. I got the Impossible Burger & my boyfriend got a classic Maine style lobster roll (cold w/ mayo) since he had tried the warmed one the night prior. The food came out in about 10 minutes, the fries were very very good. My burger was decent, not knocking my socks out of the water but again that isn't what they're known for. My boyfriend said the lobster melted in his mouth and that they really packed the lobster in there, but that he preferred the warmed butter roll from the night prior. Just a preference thing! He did love their clam chowder, said it was sooooo good.
Overall we enjoyed Beal's. It was super unique and a cool experience, and we'd recommend others come here and sit outside when it's a nice night as their decor and signs are very cool!

The food was average and a $6 "upgrade for less than a handful of sweet potato fries is absurd . $43 for a small lobster roll and about 16 sweet potato fries ? wow . Can you say , tourist trap ?! YES . YOU.CAN .

Perfect lobster spot. Best steamers I ever had I think. Try the Lobster Mary only $4 for a couple sweet claws... Service was a bit slow and long lines on a Wednesday at noon .. but not so bad. Price was good. Parking was difficult. If you don't get lucky with a spot right there it's a 15 minute walk...

Beal's are still the champs. It's not inexpensive, but well worth it. Get the jumbo lobster roll. The beer selection is very good. The large staff is very attentive and competent. Overall, this is a very well run operation. They could coast on reputation, but they deliver a superior product in a great environment.

Saw good reviews online for this so decided to check it out with friends. Walk up to counter to pick out your lobster and any other items, then you can get seated inside or outdoors. I got a 1.6 lb lobster which was definitely a good sized lobster. Lobster was super fresh, however the crab roll was sub par and was cold and stringy. Mussels and clams were both good though. Blueberry pie was also solid at the end!

Great market vibe with excellent relaxing music, and a million dollar view of the harbor. Service was quick and friendly, seafood was as fresh as it gets, perfectly prepared, and reasonably priced. Even fried items tasted fresh!
(BTW, burgers were delicious too!)

Pier to Peer
Year-round working fishing pier located in Southwest Harbor that's been in operation since 1932.
The Good:
*Nationwide delivery of lobstah to your front door.
*You're actually eating at a working lobster pier, so it's fun to sit back and watch the boys bring in their catch as you eat.
*Superlative outdoor dining right on the water.
*Fast casual order at the counter and then they bring it out to you.
*Service was exceptional
*Tons of local brews on-tap
*The lobstah roll was spectacular and honestly it doesn't get any fresher than Beal's. You can see the freshly caught lobstah as you walk in.
*Both sweet potato fries and the regular fries were handmade and delicious.
*Blueberry pie was tasty and worth the calories.
The Meh:
*Seasonal business; usually beginning of May to late October but check first!
The Ugly:
*Parking is a real bitch here as previously mentioned this is a working harbor, it wasn't really designed to have a lot of cars parked there.
Conclusion: We saved the best for last as this was the best lobstah roll we had on our trip and maybe the best ever???Helpful 38Thanks 20Love this 38Oh no 0Business owner information
