After a full day at Pearl Harbor we decided to look for something to eat for dinner, Barefoot Beach Cafe was only like a 15min walk from where we were staying at so we said why not. We took off walking and can you believe we couldn't find the place!! Possibly because we were talking & not paying attention and I kind ignored the sign of the cafe, until we made a u-turn towards the beach side and found the place. It was only a 5min detour so it's okay lol.
My sister ordered the Loco Moco, the portion size for that plate is pretty huge. I was actually surprised she didn't ask for the egg to be done over well, she's not a fan of sunny side up and that egg was runny as hell lol. It was delicious though & it is better over easy. I wanted to try their BBQ Chicken plate. This was good nice tender and flavorful. We split and ordered of garlic fries those were ok.
We returned on a Friday afternoon because from the beach you can see the fireworks they do every Friday Night. If you plan on coming here on Friday's they do offer a buffet style menu along with the regular menu but things do sell out, like by the time we got here. Also their lines were so unorganized. If you don't get here on time you will have nowhere to sit. But that wasn't our plan so we were good, we took the food to go. The Mangolada and Lava Flow were very good, I wish they had larger sizes lol. - Lori F.Las Vegas, NV199 friends8 reviews5 photos
1/27/2020Very nice restaurant with a super chill vibe. I ordered the chicken and chips. Chicken was very juicy and cones with a crap ton of fries. Fiancé ordered the Furikake fish sandwich. Also very good. This dish does NOT come with fries. The sales girl at the counter ask if we wanted fries, but failed to mention the $3.00 up charge for adding fries. Fiancé could've easily shared my fries.
Compared to the prices at nearby eateries, this place is very reasonable. Great location, great environment, incredible view, and good cooked food. Can't really go wrong here. - Larion L.San Francisco, CA18 friends39 reviews24 photos
11/25/2019Good place for breakfast. Egg Benedict was not bad but I was expected it in English muffin.
Lunch portion is ok. We got swordfish, it came with rice and salad. Fish was too dry, probably overcooked.
Didn't like the smoothie at all, it was just ice with syrup.
Service is ok.
Wouldn't recommend unless you are starving and don't want to walk anywhere else. - Christy M.Southwest Houston, Houston, TX230 friends34 reviews62 photos
2/24/2020Cute place to enjoy casual dining-- waited 30 minutes in line (we went on a Friday night) great place to eat before catching the fireworks (less than 10 min show, I suggest sitting near the beach & watching) the restaurant had singers & everyone was very interactive. There was a choice of a buffet which actually looked really good. The seating was pretty limited. I would go in pairs so one can wait in line while the other tries to snag a seat! The food was just alright. I would've enjoyed the shrimp more if they had pre peeled it! The garlic sauce was so good, but most of it was on the shells.

12/18/2019PERFECT FOR THE VIEW AND CONVINCE BUT MAY NOT FOR FOODIES
Went there for breakfast and the atmosphere being really starved. I didn't love my locomoko too much but I figured I shouldn't have expected too much for food there. I saw a lot of surfers coming to quickly eat and rest. It was right next to the beach so the view was absolutely beautiful - Megs S.San Diego, CA

If you're not in a rush to jump in the water than this is your place. Plate lunch portions are small, not for surfers or hungry appetites after playing in the water. Still made to order and taSty.

Returned on this visit and was not disappointed. This is still an ideal location for a casual all day dining venue. We religiously came here at 7:15 a.m. to get our morning illy fix and stopped by a few times for snacks and of course the fireworks on Friday. They have a wonderful outdoor BBQ on Fridays while you listen to island live music. We will always return here when staying at our place in Waikiki - a short walk from the Gold Coast!
5/24/2018Previous reviewWe returned to Hawaii and wanted to visit the Beach Cafe once again - perhaps the last visit was an "off night" - I understand that happens. Well, we came back on a Wednesday night and there was as always beautiful relaxing live music and the location, well what can I say it is the best. I ordered the shrimp and hubby order the seared ahi. BOTH dishes were so perfect!! The shrimp was like we ordered in previous visits - light, cooked perfectly - something that you would get in a very high end restaurant. We asked for the Ahi to be just seared and it was that - just seared! It comes with salad and the romaine was a nice dark green color which is important if you want to get the most out of your greens. You also get two...yes TWO scoops of rice! I highly recommend that you make this a "MUST" stop when you are in town!

4/10/2018Previous reviewThis place is all about the location. It is right on the beach and has magnificent views of the sunset. We have been there in the past and had breakfast which was great. This time we ordered the garlic shrimp and the salad with a side of prawns. We have had the garlic shrimp in the past and it was beautifully prepared with a light garlic sauce and just cooked shrimp. This time the sauce was thick, gummy and tomato like - not so tasty and I did not finish it ($16.00). The salad on the other dish was plentiful and nice but the shrimp were very salty ($18.00). I would be hesitant to order these dishes again. Also, since they are on public property as part of the park, they do not sell alcohol. I did see a few coolers and hidden glasses of wine though. They do have a nice BBQ setup on Fridays and Saturdays. They also have live music most nights which makes a wonderful time watching the sunset I might just stick to breakfast (which is done very well) or a hot dog.

1/1/2020Not exactly easy to have a quick bite to eat here, as the line always seems to be long, but it is delicious here! The location also cannot be beat! I was shocked at, though it was super crowded, that it was very easy to find a seat and table for my large group. They have tons of seating available and every table has a good view of the ocean. They also have a really good, versatile menu, so there is something for everyone. Again, the line was long but everyone there seems very efficient at getting orders out as quickly as possible. They're most popular item seems to be the pineapple smoothy in a pineapple. I saw at least a dozen of those go past me while I was in line. Ultimately I would give this place a try! Easy spot to take a swim, take a bite to eat here and then go back to swimming.

4/26/2019We recently attended the easter brunch. And it might have been the best Easter egg hunt we've ever been to!
The tickets were $30 for adults for an easter brunch with egg hunt for the kids plus bunny pictures.
What a deal! We paid $33 for an easter bunny pic at the mall for our son, but this is only $30 and you get a buffet!
Egg hunt started at 9:45 which lasted for about a good 15 minutes. There were lots of kids but there a lot of eggs too! My older son was able to get at least 20 eggs! My younger son who's only 10 months old and can't walk yet was happy with the 5 eggs that we found laying on the ground.
Inside the eggs were cute toys and candy. My kids had so much fun that I know this will be our go to easter brunch from now on. You have good food and a view! What more can you ask for?
We got seated for brunch around 10:15 am. There were lots to choose from. There's an omelette station, fried rice, potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fish, pancakes with 3 different syrups, tofu scramble, salad, and the best one of all TRUFFLE CAPRESE SALAD. That was bomb and they did not skimp on the truffle.
There was an acai bowl station too which I enjoyed very much. Coffee, juice, iced tea.
There was live music too while you're eating.
Oh it was the best! Shatina and Sakara are awesome too! All of the staff are super friendly and very welcoming. We love this place.

4/13/2019We loved this little low-key beach side cafe. Prices were a little high, but everything was fresh and you could sit as long as you liked. We ate breakfast here twice - the spam and eggs, and swordfish and eggs were incredible. Both were sold with rice and furikake. The smoothies were delicious, too. The pineapple smoothie - holy cow. Really amazing. And it comes in a pineapple. It was DELICIOUS.
They also have a water refill station. I recommend bringing your own bottle, because otherwise you pay for your cup.
Everything here is super-green, which I appreciate. Particularly so close to the beach. And in the evening they have live music which just screams a perfect Hawaiian evening.

4/14/2019This cafe is a great place to grab quick food with beautiful view or the sunset and ocean. We came here to grab dinner with our friends and it was our first time here. It's such a cute place with all outdoor sittings and by the water. The food specially was good and simple, garnished with a cute flower - very Hawaiian style. They also have smoothies and lots of pineapples, so this is definitely a good place to get refreshing drinks after surfing.
The view is gorgeous from here, we watched the sunset and it was so beautiful. They also have live acoustic guitar music playing so it makes everything so peaceful and relaxing. We love this place and would love to come again in the evening since they also have very cute lightings outdoors. And we definitely would love to come here on a Friday since we can watch weekly fireworks from here, i heard there are stations selling grilled food - such a great experience!

1/11/2020We heard music playing and came looking for it. My husband and I had just been trying to figure out where to go for dinner and not looking forward to driving somewhere. When we found the music we realized it was this wonderful little outdoor cafe. It was wonderful the food was fabulous and the music by Danny Gulara (I hope I got that right) was perfect for our last night in Oahu. We ate our food and watched the sunset . Thank you for a special evening

7/27/2019How are you gonna serve burnt fries to your customers? $12 for chicken strips and fries... 2 small chicken strips by the way. The hot dog for $6 was also just okay. I had the ahi poke bowl also for $12. I asked for a bag since I was planning to eat it on the beach and they told me 50 cents for a bag. 50 cents? Isn't it usually 15 cents? I wish I had a better experience here but the quality of food is not good and overpriced.

8/30/2019Aloha Barbara,
Sorry you didn't have a great experience at our cafe. It looks like you accidentally received the keiki portion of the chicken tenders which is incorrect. We do charge a flat takeaway fee of $.75 which includes a compostable bag and compostable utensil pack. This fee is pretty much the actual cost of both as compostable can be pricey so we encourage guests to BYO-Bag and use complimentary chopsticks if they prefer not to pay the takeaway fee.
We hope you will try us again. Please email Info@BarefootBeachCafe.c… prior to your next visit so we can be sure to take care of you.

9/12/2019The wait for the food is fast enough. Grilled teriyaki chicken burger comes with sweet potatoes fries and a slice of sweet pineapple. It's outside seating with a nice ocean view and they offer refreshing pineapple water. The pigeons are friendly so watch your food.

On vacation with my two friends, we went here every morning for breakfast on the beach. There is truly nothing better than the sound of waves accompanied by traditional Hawaiian music. Conveniently located on waikiki beach towards Diamond Head, there is live music every night.
The food is impeccably prepared, with traditional Hawaiian tastes and food options. Spam and rice a staple of the menu. The first day I had the meat and eggs, meat choice of bacon and left me full. The second and third morning I had the Surfers Fried Rice. Fired rice with spam, peppers and carrots. I topped it with an over easy egg and soy sauce. This could have left me full the rest of the day (if I didn't want to eat every four hours). I paired it with a cup of delicious black coffee and an açaí smoothie.
While there is no alcoholic drinks, you can enjoy healthy smoothies and even a smoothie in a full pineapple. This breakfast joint is not one to be missed in Hawaii! - Jill K.Honolulu, HI

I love the Barefoot Beach Cafe for several reasons, but one of the main reasons I love it is because of its proximity to the ocean. It's truly oceanfront! Given most beachfront places in Waikiki are expensive, items at this little cafe are really reasonable!
I've been here several times, but I went this past weekend on a Saturday morning to enjoy breakfast and some ocean views. I was lucky enough to snag parking right on Kalakaua! It was early, around 8:30 a.m., but there was already a rather long line formed at the cafe.
I waited in line probably around 15-20 minutes, but somehow I didn't mind because the open air, ocean views, and Hawaiian music playing soothed my soul!
I ordered a build your own omelet with garlic, onions, tomatoes, and Portuguese sausage. The omelet came with a salad, roasted potatoes and a fruit garnish. While waiting, I helped myself to their water that's flavored with pineapple and strawberries...super refreshing!
My omelet was ready about 10 minutes later and I sat at a chair just near the walkway by the ocean. It was such a beautiful morning!
My only complaint is that they got the ingredients in my omelet wrong. There was no Portuguese sausage, there was spinach and tomatoes, and red and green bell peppers. I didn't want to wait by sending it back, so I just ate it. No harm, no foul.
In the past I've come here for their poke bowls which are really great. It's also a great spot for pau hana on Fridays because they serve up BBQ, and you can watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki.
Overall, I love this little cafe and I hope to come back time and again!
