Crepes, shaved ice, and drinks!!
I loooove the dessert crepes from here. I typically order a build-your-own dessert crepe comprising of nutella, strawberries, whipped cream, and ice cream. I'm not a huge fan of shaved ice, but I've heard great things about it. They also have savory crepes, if you're looking to grab some lunch or dinner.
The interior is small and there isn't a lot of seating inside, but you'll be able to find places to sit outside of the shop.
Line and wait can be long depending on the time and day you go, so just a heads-up!
Customer service is great; they bring out your order for you, even if you're waiting outside.
Although I've only gone a few times over the past years, I always make this a stop if I'm in the area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2020
Savory crêpes shouldn't be sweet if you have avocado/cheese like I did, however at least it was fresh & only $5
It was a super small portion too but again, only $5 (for cheese & avocado).
I'll definitely be back to satisfy my sweet craving. The smoothies looked delicious too.
Cash only.

Yes, we returned to Banana Crepe. The affogato is so worth it! Two scoops of hard vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a drizzle if chocolate for $4.50!
I'd go every day if I could!!

Wanted shaved after ramen lunch and there was a long line for this place.
We wandered into this place because it looked packed... must be good!
Well, it turned out that the people were standing in line for sake Tasting ! Ha ha, no sake for me, but they offered shaved ice, Japanese crepes and affogato!
One strawberry shaved ice and one affogato please! $8. That was totally worth it!
Shaved ice was delicious and the affogato consisted of 2 scoops of ice cream, a double shot of espresso, whipped cream and a light drizzle of chocolate syrup! Perfect!
There were a couple of tables to sit at at we consumed our treats.
The crepe looked huge! Certainly worth another visit! - 56415202106Apr 12, 2019Updated review
It's been a while since I've been to Banana Crepe, but the one thing I can count on Banana Crepe for is consistency. I know I can expect to have a satisfying dessert, and my crepe today definitely was. Actually it was so good that it's worth noting the crepe was better than I remembered!
My boyfriend and I ordered a Cookies 'n' Cream crepe to share. What I like about Banana Crepe's crepes in general is the thickness of the crepe wraps. I like how a crepe wrap isn't prepared to be so paper thin that they tear apart too easily. Therefore, everything holds together well with no fuss and no mess. It also never ceases to amaze me how stuffed the crepes are with all the fruit, ice cream, whipped cream, etc. I find, as a result, that Banana Crepe crafts their crepes very carefully and intentionally.
Customer service was particularly great during my latest visit as well. It was busy for a Friday evening, but the staff was on top of the orders. The turnaround for our crepe was fast.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Jun 9, 2017Previous reviewBanana Crepe specializes in shaved ice and crepes. I've had the pleasure of trying both, and I have nothing bad to say about either.
There are many fruity or "tropical" flavors to choose for the shaved ice. I usually get the Tiger's blood + one other flavor, but I believe you can choose up to 3. Personally I like my shaved ice with the vanilla ice cream and condensed milk. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is in the center of the bowl, and the flavored shaved ice covers it. Then the condensed milk coats the outer shaved ice layer.
I've only had the dessert crepes from Banana Crepe, and I find that the crepe options are pretty basic. I do like how the crepes are actually stuffed. What I mean by this is that the servers don't just do the one-fold over the fillings. I just recently had the rocky road crepe, which was on the special custom item menu. It didn't blow me away, but it was yummy nonetheless.
FYI - This place has no air conditioning or indoor ventilation. I swear it's always hot and humid whenever I enter Banana Crepe. - 12053241472Apr 29, 2019
I've been coming to Banana Crepe for more than 7+ years and it never fails to satisfy my sweet tooth. I haven't found another dessert place that serves such bomb shaved ice and crepes!
They have so many flavors for their shaved ice and the portions are huge. I can barely finish a kid's size ice with another person. It's so worth it and so yummy. Lychee, blood orange, and Li Hing Mui are my favorite flavors.
Their crepes are on point as well. Crispy and thin crepes filled with all the things you can imagine. There's a lot of choices to be made here too. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the creations.
They also have some drinks if you are so inclined. Hot chocolate with whipped cream for a cold rainy day is amazing.
I do wish they had more seating and a bathroom, but the vibe is very cozy and you're surrounded by 100+ monkeys. Also wish they were open later because sometimes you just have later dinners. :( CASH ONLY!

I love everything about this place. From the interior decorations and all the little gadgets and monkeys everywhere to the overall theme (jungle style). Banana crepe is so delicious the best Hawaiian shaved ice I've had in California.
Customer service is on point. They bring you your order even if you're seated outside.
I wasn't too fond of the lychee flavor but I've always liked their other flavors like grape, bubble gum, guava, banana, etc.
I'll always come back! They close on Monday's btw & any other major time they have an event at Japan town.

Full of yums. It's not easy to pick up my bag and fly to Hawaii for some shave ice so...I go here.
It's a small spot that has crepe and shave ice. I've never tried their crepe but the shave ice has me coming back for more.
I usually order the kid size and it's more than enough. They allow you to pick up to 2 flavors. It's an extra 50 cents for condense milk and extra dollar for ice cream. My usual is strawberry and lychee with condense milk and ice cream. And, I feel like the kid size is pretty big. Enough to share between two.
If you need a pick me up then get some shave ice.

Don't let the name fool you... Banana Crepe is sooo much more than just your average establishment serving up sweet|savory paper-thin pancakes.
Located in the heart of San Jose's Japantown, Banana Crepe is a quirky, colorful cafe that emphasizes laid-back island feel.
To be quite honest, I didn't know this place ever existed. A huge TY goes out to my 8 year old nephew [a future foodie in the making].
With this random heatwave that struck the Bay Area, we sat around one day trying to find a way to cool off and stuff our faces at the same time. With a number of fairly good options- we ultimately decided on Hawaiian shaved ice.
The shaved ice menu is pretty extensive in flavors & endless customization options. Flavors range from the typical bubblegum, blue raspberry, cherry, & lime. There are out of the ordinary flavors such as green tea, passion fruit, lychee, & tiger's blood [a combo of strawberry, cherry, & watermelon].
There are 2 sizes available- regular or kid's- and you have the choice of two different flavors. For a small fee you are able to add additional flavors, ice cream, or added toppings.
Our party of 3 ordered two regular sized Hawaiian shaved ice. There's no monkeying around when it comes to the heaping portions- we easily could have gotten away with sharing two kid's sizes but with the cost difference simply being $0.75 [each cup], why not just go BIG.
Service is fast, friendly, and I'm all about supporting local mom N pop shops!! Keep up the great work guys :DHelpful 12Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - 3243391122Sep 9, 2017
09/08/17- I've been wanting to try this place for a while now but whenever I'm in the area this place has a line out the door. I finally went last night and because I just came back from Maui I've been overly emo cause I miss the island goodies.
Anyways I ordered their Hawaiian shaved ice with two flavors (guava and passion fruit). I also added vanilla ice cream, condensed milk and li hing mui powder on top. It's no ululani's that's for sure (Hawaii knows their shave ice). I liked the passion fruit flavor a lot but when I finished the ice cream there were more shave ice on the bottom which harden and i had to forcefully hit it with my plastic spoon. Hmmm idk how ululani's make their ice so soft but the Bay Area seems to not know how to get this right. Anybody else know any other Hawaiian shaved ice place that they recommend? Cause this place was just alright.
But I guess I'll give this place another try next time to taste their crepe.

Horchata Shaved Ice! So good. This place only accept cash which I think it's the downside for me. I skipped it last time because I didn't have cash on hand. Anyway, this time I was ready! This place has great selection of good stuff! I cant wait to try other sweet things from here. I will definitely gonna come back!
