I am giving this former Bladerunners ice arena 5 stars because it remains a full ice arena even after being sold. The new name is Baierl Ice Complex and hopefully the yelp gods in SF will update the business name :). They have a real snack bar selling fresh coffee and hot food, among other snack bar fare. They have two sheets of ice, skate rental for public skate, a small synthetic ice court for ADM practice, a weight room, and a KoSports pro shop. It's a nice, full service facility and as a youth hockey parent I am so glad that it remains so. Surely it helps that the Pens new facility isn't too far away!

This is the best skating rink ever to be made, and the be I've ever been to. Also the service is great

The ice here is awful and the overpowering sickening smell of cheap air freshener gives me a headache every time I'm there. One positive is that the rinks kept are at a very comfortable temperature but obviously at the expense of their soft ice.

While the rink has changed hands and invested money for long overdue updates and maintenance, they have lost the concept of public skating. The only public skating sessions are now weekdays around noon, when 95% of people work. There is no commitment to the community or families who want to skate for fun. And management has been aggressively dismissive of anyone who asks about public sessions. It's a shame to see this rink run into the ground by forgetting what matters most - especially in light of the name that is posted on the rink - that of a family who otherwise has contributed so much to the north hills.

I feel bad for the Baierl Family for attaching their name to this business. They have worked hard to build a great reputation and to have it tarnished by this business is a shame. The ice is as bad as skating on a pond. I signed up for their summer hockey league. It was supposed to start over a month ago and still has no start date. I had multiple conversations with the management and they have shown no concern for the people affected. I would strongly recommend the Lemieux Complex for your skating and hockey needs. Unless you enjoy poor customer service, stay away
