Avondale Brewing

I'm not a beer girly but I love me some Avondale Brewery. They keep a fun event lineup and the space is great for gathering.

These pics are from a recent Janelle Monae concert where she totally rocked the house. I got the pit tickets up close by the stage and had a fab time.

I also got a margarita from the bar, so don't worry my fellow non beer drinkers, we're good here too. I've been to food truck parties, concerts and more in this space with no complaints.

The inside is nice as well, lots of tvs and good vibes from the staff.

I normally don't review places based upon one visit but I am going to make an exception here.

Why? We came from Good People based upon the beers there and the service experience from bartender THERE-she was 5 stars- engaging- informative about local restaurants...plus a brewery dog. We came here based on her recommendation.

This bartender? Couldn't have cared less- not engaged at all. Like she was miserable to even been there
"Y'all have food" nope
"Is that pizza place next door open" nope

First table we sat at indoors- wobbled and spilled half our beers. the bartender saw this and kept on being unhappy- not an offering of a napkin or towel- luckily I travel with them or we would have left a lake for the next guests.

Sorry for the trouble but damn fake it till you make it!

LOVED the outdoor space here and big screen TV but the beer we loved at Good People didn't even taste as good here bc her attitude was so sour.. we had one and left where being outdoor space beer loving tourists we would have stayed for several had she been even the bit welcoming.

Won't return.

CHEERS TO A HOPPY LIFE!

Avondale is one of Birmingham's most popular breweries in town. Everyone has always talked about it. Whether you come here for their amazing entertainment or for their actual beer, everyone always seems to have a story pertaining to Avondale.

New Years Eve I thought would be the perfect time to check out some of the spots that I had yet to in 2022. After taking a very nice walk from Ghost Train to Avondale (20 minute walk) we figured why not start our bar hopping excursion at Avondale.

Avondale brewing is split into two. There is the main bar where you will find more hops, lagers, & stouts. But the sour room is where you will find more.. you guessed it sour beers. I am much more of a sour beer kind of gal. So hearing that Avondale had a hidden sour room was much more up my alley.

The sour room is smaller and more of an intimate space. It is inside of Avondale, but down a little hallway. Their decor is a lot more romantic than the main tap room. There is a snake mural on the wall with emerald green chairs around smaller black tables. I feel as though this might be a very nice date night space.

The main tap room on the other hand is a lot more spacious and grungier, has a big brick wall with a sign that says welcome to Avondale. There are old timey arcade games and people are always allowed to bring their dogs and pups. A large Merch section behind the main bar has everything under the sun from shirts and sweatshirts to coozies and beanies.

Customer service is top notch in both the sour room as well as the main tap room. A man running the main tap room was very kind, sweet, generous and all around had a very good bed side manor about him. When he saw us struggling to take pictures of the Avondale sign he stopped what he was doing, came around the bar and offered to help. Very very sweet of him.

The girl in the sour room was just beginning her cleaning duties for the evening when we came inside. She stopped what she was doing and came over to help. I asked about the spurs and she told me that there were four options. I have to say I was torn between the rainbow sherbet and the pineapple whip, but did wind up with the pineapple whip.

After looking at both of the spaces, I decided on ordering a pineapple whip sour from the sour room. When I tell you this beer tasted like dole whip (you might enjoy at Disney world), it was exactly that. Fruity, sweet, floral. Exactly like dole whip, but in liquid form. After one sip I was sold.

I will definitely need to come back to enjoy more of the sour room and maybe even catch a show. If you are in the area and need a spot to just sit back and enjoy a good beer, I highly suggest coming to Avondale. But don't just take it from me, the locals will tell you it is one of the best around.

Came to an event here over the weekend & had a really good time. Staff was friendly & helpful. Absolutely LOVE that cocktails are served here in addition to beer. Also love that Absolut Vodka is available upon request. I was taken care of by two different bartenders & they both made a fantastic cocktail. The bar's atmosphere is very nice. Pretty furniture. The outdoor area is lovely. There's a stage area with a very large screen. Bathrooms are clean. Taking off one star for not having hooks in the women's restroom stalls to hang purses. My purse is nice & I don't want to put it on the bathroom floor.

I really enjoyed the environment especially the outside lawn. The service was also good and I definitely recommend this brewery to go in Birmingham.

I love Avondale! I don't like beer, but I like their beer beer is so good. I also love the outdoors. They have good outdoors.

I'm on the junior board for The Literacy Council of Central Alabama and we had a fundraising event last night at this brewery. Avondale Brewing had a great venue for our event. Their security did a great job helping us facilitate getting the guests into the outside area where the entertainment we arranged was performing. The bartenders made great drinks.

I haven't been to a concert here since last year and this was a great experience! Everything is set up to run very smoothly and help keep lines to a minimum which anyone can appreciate.

They are not closed!

Finally stopped in here for an after ride brew. I tried the Brunch Punch Shandy and Ms. Fancy's Tripel. I settled on the Brunch Punch Shandy. I also tried the draft cocktail: Yellowhammer.

We enjoyed an after ride snack from the Avondale Burger Co. food truck. We enjoyed the vibe, the food and the brews.

Oh Avondale.... Part of my heart is here. I have always loved the spacious lawn, the dogs, the friends!! But when Taylor helped us have a make-shift reception here last year I was sold forever. Our wedding memories will forever be tied to this, dare I say, magical place.

But that's only the first layer!! I was the jr. Board president for the autism society for years and they allowed us to have our large event, The Funky Fish Fry here every year. It is such a blessing to get this amazing venue and all for charity!

Speaking of events, it wouldn't be Avondale without the concerts! Need to breath tonight, so excited!

The drinks: I am not a beer connoisseur so the atmosphere used to be my selling point. Until, they got margs and yellow hammers!! I am looking forward to enjoying several of each tonight.

The Food: Avondale burger Co. Is where it's at! I'm not going to get too wrapped up here because they're deserving of their own review but OMGSH GO TRY IT!!
