Avery's Alterations

Jan is great! She does fantastic work (very skilled, fine tailoring) very quickly and for an excellent price. She's very personable and has years of experience. I won't go to anyone else!

Covid time review:

I am very thankful that Avery's Alterations is in town because good tailors are difficult to find. Jan is a pleasure to work with. She is located inside the Mr. Tux store, so walk into the tux store, and Jan's space is on the left. She is an expert tailor and is more than capable of performing alterations. She has done hemming and repairs for me for years for incredibly reasonable prices (she deserves more than she charges), and I fully trust her with my beloved wardrobe items that I refuse to part with. A lot of her customers come to her for bridal/bridesmaid alterations--for bigger jobs like this, you may want to make an appointment. For lululemon shoppers, she is also their local alterer, which I think is a big endorsement of the quality of her work. Jan does not wear a mask when she is working alone in her space, but puts one on when customers enter. During the pandemic, she has been in-store only on afternoons Wed-Fri, so I would call before you show up. And call to check in on your alteration if you're on a deadline. ;)

Saw this place had good reviews, drove 50 miles, but when I showed up the gal working there said it was by "appointment only," and then didn't even take the time to look at the simple repairs I needed. Said "I'm only one person!" Pretty lame. Went to Duc's instead. Homeboy fixed my stuff right up. Thumbs down on Avery's Alterations

Jan is a lovely person and a wonderful tailor. She did an amazing job with several suiting pieces that had to be made petite and several of my requests for hems. She is conveniently located inside Mr Tux and is a true professional. Also, her pricing is also very reasonable. If you're looking for an EXCELLENT tailor, Jan is it. Keep in mind you will likely have to wait for an appointment with her-- she books very quickly because she is QUALITY!

This place does such quality work. She's really busy and requires an appointment and after I saw the finished work on my stack of clothes I realized why she is so in demand. I took her at least 8 items and each one looked like I originally purchased them that way.

I had been going to someone else who is always backed up and it would take a long time to get my garments back. Decided to try Avery's and I've found my forever tailor! She's incredibly fast, friendly and really good at what she does. I can't recommend her enough!

Jan is wonderful. She does superb jobs for reasonable prices. I wish she were closer to me, but I wish everyone was closer to me. She is centrally located in downtown, so that's the next best thing. A great thing about Jan is she tells it like it is. If it isn't going to look good on you no matter the alteration she'll let you know. She's saved me from some fashion mistakes.

Had a new suit that needed the pants hemmed. She was quick and very affordable. Even neatly removed all the tags and extra things hanging off the new suit to make it ready to go. She was communicative and accessible. No complaints here.

Jan does a really great job with alterations. I've never been disappointed with something she has done. She does get very busy in the Spring around Prom season, but her turnaround time is usually quite good. I do think her prices can be a little steep compared to what I have paid in the past, but I am also always confident she will do a wonderful job.

Jan was very easy to work with, and the turn around time was amazing! She called me with questions regarding my alterations, which was a pleasant surprise as other shops would just stop working on the articles or assume and possible do an incorrect alteration. Great service!
