I wanted to update my review since it's been awhile. Jen continues to have the heart and knowledge to train any dog, at any level to become a super dog! She trains puppies to Villains and has many other classes that are great to continue with after your training sessions are over. Jen is only one of six in the world that is Certified to run a Pack 2 Basics Social too! There have not been any incidents with any dogs, I've been with her close to 15 years and this is one class my dogs have always loved! I've had three dogs in her programs, sadly 2 have passed, but our girl now LOVES to go to Jen's!
There are basic group classes, Private Programs (great for that one on one with Jen) and Private Programs for that special dog that is fearful and aggressive.
There is a Force Free Off Leash training class coming up very soon, an Animal Actor class currently in progress (Jen has connections with someone that supplies dogs for Hollywood!), and a Maintenance class to help brush up on the basics, or learn something new!
Of course we pet parents have to do our part with ongoing training to keep our pets in their Super Dog status! You won't be sorry having Jen help your family with your pet at whatever stage they are at!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Aug 28, 2021Previous reviewI have been with Jen Freilich for many years and wouldn't dream of trusting my beloved dogs to anyone else!! She knows dogs! Her 30+ years of experience & love of animals is evident with the first meeting.
Jen has so many certifications! She is certified in Canine Nutrition, Canine Iridology, is a Canine Wellness Consultant and SO many more! She is one of only 6 in the world Certified to run the Pack To Basics socials as well! There has never been a dog injured by another dog in these socials, she is serious about safety, she watches and recognizes behavior in an amazing way!
Jen's Villain Program can transform your extremely fearful or aggressive dog into a Superhero!! I know, she transformed my aggressive 80 lb Lab mix into a blue ribbon AKC Canine Good Citizen!!
Like me, you'll be coming back for more! Jen has many classes to keep you & your dog happy and thriving!!Jan 24, 2016Previous reviewIf you have an unruly pet, you need to go let Jennifer & her crew teach you how to fix that! The whole staff ATEOYL are just awesome, friends can't believe our rescue is the same dog! Want private lessons? They can accommodate you. Want you dog to be socialized? They can make that happen! You get so much more than "sit", "stay", your pet will thank you for going to see Jennifer... At The End Of Your Leash!!!

Not impressed at all. She is more concerned about bragging about her experience and knowledge than actually training the dog. Geez!

I met Jen here over 10 years ago. Probably closer to 15. She really helped us w 3 really bad uncontrolled anxious jack Russell terriers. I reached out recently w the new addition to the family. We did not want to wait until adulthood to "fix" our dog so we contacted Jen and started his training at 4 months. He's now 10 months and I am so impressed with his growth. She has helped us to have a well balanced and happy dog. Which is all we wanted! He knows so much now and is also very confident! She also does socials weekly and my small 16 lb boy plays w her big ol rotts and is not afraid. It's worth the time and money. She will help you for life.

I have had 3 of my dogs go through obedience training at The End of Your Leash. After a few sessions, guests at my house commented on how well behaved they were. I believe in the training you receive so much I have returned with my last dog. He did fabulous also. Thank you!

It is a disappointment to have waited so long then to find out what a waste of time it was. I first contacted At the End of Your Leash by filling out an application through their website in early May/2019 and I have emailed and left voice messages to obtain information regarding their training program. Finally, after weeks, an assistant of At the End of Your Leash returned my calls (First Red Flag - Speed of service). However, the assistant was unable to answer questions regarding their program but asked me to join the meetup group (SoCal Pack Leaders) (Second Red Flag - Poorly trained staff with little knowledge of services offered). So I joined the meetup group in late May/2019 and messaged Jen Freilich (owner of At the End of Your Leash) to let her know that I have filled out the online application and want to better understand the next step. Jen was kindly to reply promptly but, again, was not helpful. Below is her reply to me:
"Hi Veronica, I'm afraid I'm not following. Can you please be much more specific? Thank you! Sent from Jen's iPhone..."
Third Red Flag - Jen never picks the phone to talk to her potential customers. Communication with Jen has always been through emails or text messages.
Fourth Red Flag, Jen did not take time to refer to the application that I filled out, which included specific training that I was looking for. In addition, after that reply, I heard nothing from Jen. Although I have message her to request for more information about her programs. This initial experience was quite disturbing to me, unprofessional business practice and lack of customer service. So I moved on and continued my 2-1/2 year old Rottweiler's training with Elevated Canine Academy to get him titled. By the way, my experience with this company, the owner, and training was excellent.
Fast forward three to four months, the same assistant from At the End of Your Leash called and let me know that Jen has been ill and as soon as Jen get back on her feet, Jen will reach out to me regarding training. I felt so awful, I thought that I may have been too quick to judge. Maybe my poor experience with Jen and her company was due to her being ill. So, I was open to possibly use Jen's service when it becomes available.
November/2019, after six months from the date of my application, finally, there is a date, November 30, 2019. I RSVP for the class, but I also emailed Jen to ask if it is possible to meet before the seminar so she can better guide me to the best program for my dog. Jen agreed to the request and scheduled for meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 @ 6pm. Due to rain I cancelled the appointment and Jen proposed a new appointment time for Friday, November 29, 2019 @ 12pm.
On Friday morning, on my way to meet her, I texted to confirm the appointment and I got the 20 questions from Jen and she asked me to turn around. I am so confused.... What happened between Wednesday and Friday morning, why the 20 questions now? Did she even take the time to read my application? If there was miscommunication or misunderstanding, why did she not pick up the phone to talk to me? I called her, no answer. I texted her and asked her to please call me so we can better discuss my needs on the phone instead of texting. Jen texted back, "I cannot". Jen brags about her 25 or 40 years of experience with dog training, her people skill is poor, at best; and her customer service skill is little to none.
At the End of the Leash presale business practice is a disaster. I can only imagine the type of service you will receive from this service provider. ***Buyers Beware***Helpful 8Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1Business owner information

Hello Veronica,
I understand you are upset, though not everything you said is true and accurate from my perspective. I also have no doubt that this is what it felt like to you.
July 2018 I was diagnosed with Chronic Persistent Lyme Disease, Babesia, Epstein Barr Virus, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Hashimoto's, Raynaud's Disease, Mold & Metal Toxicity and Severe Brain Damage amongst a few others.
I wasn't just sick, I was dying. I was bedridden the rest of 2018, 90% of the day, barely getting up to use the restroom or shower most of the time. The first six months of 2019 I was also bedridden, not just ill, fighting for my life. The last six months of 2019 I was bedridden 70% of every day. Same with 2020, 60% of the day trying to heel, trying to rebuild my brain, trying to regain memories, learn to read and write again. I was still fighting for my life. With Severe Brain Damage. Herxheimer episodes that sent me to the hospital.
I still do and that probably won't change for a very long time. As they say about Lyme Patients, we either find the right treatments to manage it for life, or we die. Suicide being the number one cause of Lyme Patients. Living with the hundreds of symptoms, the constant intense pain it causes all the time, the disabilities, the financial burden of all of the treatments coming out of pocket because health insurance companies don't pay for the lyme treatments that actually work - which is about $100,000 a year out of pocket. Dealing with things like this.
I can't go back in time and make this experience better for you or anyone else, but I can say that I and all those around me who came to my aid, helped me in any way that they could, took care of me and kept me alive on every level, my students, my clients, my parents and myself, we all did the very best we could, during the worst possible scenario one can be in, under the most grievous circumstances in the best way we could at that moment. If I could go back and change things, go back and do it all over again, knowing what I know now, it would be a completely different experience for all of us.
I am incredibly grateful to still be alive, which wasn't even a possibility when I was diagnosed. I thank you for being so passionate and sharing how this experience felt for you. I think it would be an appropriate thing to discuss in one of the chapters of my upcoming book. Communication is really hard when you have illnesses that make your bones hurt, migraines 24/7, nauseated, exhausted and sleeping most of the time. Perhaps your review will help other Lyme Patients be able to have a plan in place for the occasion a life threatening disease rapidly takes over their body, especially when they live alone and try to continue their business far longer than they should have pushed through because they just want to keep helping others. I bet I can make protocols that I learned from this experience into a document for the free bonus part of the book site. Technically, it is a "how to navigate lyme disease" book.
There are 425,000+ new lyme cases each year, and those are only the ones that are reported. For example, I was bit when I was 8 years old. It took me to the age of 44 to get diagnosed. I'm 46.5 now. Can you imagine how many others have gone undiagnosed? I actually know of people that have died from it and no one knew from what until the autopsy. It showed lyme. That person went untreated too long. Also, if you don't see a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor, you won't be treated with the treatments that actually work. You'll get a doc that only knows to give you Doxycycline, because they don't know any better, and that just drives it deeper in to your internal organs. You want a LLMD. Lyme Disease has now surpassed both Breast Cancer and AIDS combined! Fleas, ticks, flies and mosquitoes also carry Lyme and virtually 99.99% of all ticks in every state in the US now carry multiple diseases.
Last year was the worst year for ticks in SoCal so stay safe out there and thank you for sharing. I promise to keep getting better so I don't have a relapse, but either way, now I have at least been through the worst of it, I know what to expect in my future, I have a protocol ready, learned many lessons and I'm sure I'm a better human being for having gone through all of this. - Geneva L.Redlands, CA011Jun 8, 2016
My dog Cocoa and I have worked with Jen since 2009. I did everything wrong that you could imagine in terms of not letting my dog know who ran my household. Jen got us back into a livable situation by helping me repair a relationship that was completely out of balance. After getting that relationship back on track we have continued to see Jen and utilize her maintenance and socialization programs. They keep that relationship stable and give my dog activities with other dogs that are in a safe environment and not a frenzied dog park. We have structure and my dog absolutely loves having that structure.
And there are extra classes as well that she offers: Pet CPR, Rattlesnake Avoidance Training, Nutrition!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - T M.Beaumont, CA7661Oct 7, 2017
Jen is incredibly knowledgeable about dog behavior and obedience training. The cruel tactics that two other people have mentioned in their reviews show that they clearly have no knowledge or experience in proper and effective training techniques and do not understand that a "correction" is not cruel. It is necessary and happens between dogs all the time. Jen has changed the lives of countless dogs and owners in a positive way. Working with her has allowed us to have the BEST relationships with our dogs! Because of Jen, we are able to have well-behaved, socialized, well-mannered, loving dogs. If you are considering dog training, Jen is definitely who you should choose!

I know this might sound a little dramatic but Jen & Brandon saved my dog. We were having sporadic aggression issues that were becoming more frequent. The worst part was that when we broke our dogs apart my dog, Jude, would redirect his aggression toward the person involved. Once he realized that he was biting you and not the other dog he would release but my family was discussing sending him away or to the pound (and we all know what happens to surrendered dogs with aggression issues). So I found At the End of Your Leash and I'm so thankful that I did.
They worked with us and all 3 of our dogs and we basically discovered that we were doing most things wrong. lol. I'm not saying we're perfect but thanks to Jen & Brandon we haven't had ANY instances of aggression (no fights, biting, etc) and we've learned how to avoid (and handle) compromising situations. Handling these situations has increased my confidence with my dog and has increased his confidence in me.
I also love that unlike quick obedience schools your training doesn't end once they've "graduated." ATEOYL is always offering seminars concerning diet, health, safety, etc. that have greatly improved my dog's quality of life.
There are countless times when our training has kicked in and we were able to avoid a bad outcome and that's why I always recommend ATEOYL (I even recommend them to people who live nowhere near here bc I figure they'll know the best trainers in other areas. lol) Thanks again, Jen, Brandon & the whole ATEOYL family!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas C.Covina, CA29401Jul 10, 2015
Please read the other 1 star review before mine. I was lucky not to attend Jens "End of leash" program. I spoke to her on the phone and was concerned about the price being so high for 5 training classes, oh and all day video that we watch together.
I told her my breed of dog and how old she was.
She then told me (valley girl voice) "Umm can I be honest and people know me for my honesty, but I don't think you can afford that dog if you cant afford my class."
I have never been talk to like that, and was amazed and shocked and her very low social skills she had. I do appreciate honesty in all aspects, but Jen doesn't seem to have a "filter" I guess you can say. Just by talking with her on the phone and reading the other 1 star review, I knew I would not like her class or get along with her as a person. Perhaps "At the end of your leash" should be at its end of its leash. #dontwhipyourdogHelpful 22Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1
