I love when I get to order what ever sashimi I won't!!

Their cut's of yellow tail and salmon are like butter. The service as pleasant as one would expect and the ambiance is just right!

BYOB and first date perfection!

Aozora offers a great selection of Japanese and European food on their menu. With a great variety from lobster to sushi, they sure are catering to a big audience. The ambiance was really cozy and warm and they decorated for Valentine's early with all the hearts. It is very warm and lovely, you could see the sushi chefs cook up a great meal. The food that came out was very tasty, they have vegetarian and vegan options available. I ended up having some sushi, a miso soup and a tofu teriyaki. I would definitely come back to try some more things. The service was really good and the waiters were very attentive. I gave it 4 stars because of the long wait for food, but it helped my appetite.

Came here for dinner a few nights ago. Even though we didn't have a reservation they were able to seat us quickly so that was great. For appetizers we got the gyoza and then for our entree we got the montclair and the sexy girl rolls.

Gyoza we're great! The sexy girl (shrimp tempura) roll was definitely our favorite of the two. While the montclair roll featured tuna, avocado, and eel sauce - which are all things I normally love - both of us thought it lacked something.

One thing I will say is that we checked in on Yelp thinking we would get a free dessert but they said that promotion was only available when ordering from the kitchen (and did not include sushi.) While that ordinarily wouldn't bother me it was a little annoying that stipulation wasn't on Yelp.

Overall this is a nice and reasonably priced sushi restaurant right off of Bloomfield avenue that would be great for meeting a friend, a small-ish gathering, or even date night!

I give this place a solid 3 stars.

Food: Sushi quality is alright - nothing special that you can't get anywhere else.

Service: Service wasn't bad until they lost the check with my card inside. Took us 30 mins to find it.

Ambience: Very cute place - nicely decorated.

Location Location Location: Heart of Montclair - great place to be to get more customer but they also have VERY strong competition around them.

This is a solid sushi restaurant right in the heart of Montclair. I got the omakase sushi and sashimi combo for $30 and shrimp shumai to start. Checking in on Yelp will also get your table a free dessert. The cheesecake is light and fluffy and won't make you feel so bloated. This whole meal was such a delight, reasonably priced and filling!

This is a nice restaurant with a good ambience. Got the kani salad, a few of the chef special rolls, and the cheesecake sith vanilla ice cream. The kani salad was nice and didn't have a fishy taste. The chef's specials were good- sexy roll was probably the best and tuna amazing was probably the worst but they were all good. The cheesecake had a bruleed crust and was overall good. I think this is a solid sushi spot, very nice/peaceful decor, and good service. Would recommend for anyone in the area.

We was craving sushi so stopped here and got a bunch of delicious food. To start we had a few of the sushi rolls apologies I forgot the name. Then for meal we tried the shrimp dish and scallops but had great flavor. The service was great too.

i'm going to start off by saying that the service was weird tonight. it was the four of us so while my friends were giving their orders, she was about to walk away without taking my order! Until my friend stopped her! At first, they were a little put off with the fact that we wanted to get separate checks but then ultimately that never happened. they did fill our waters a few times. she also seemed a little put off that I had a Yelp check in for a free dessert and I let my friend use it. again, it may be my imagination, but I felt she was a little grouchy. they did check on us once to see how the food was.

The vegetable spring rolls were delicious. I really liked them. Dipping sauce had a citrus taste to it which wasn't bad either. The vegetable fried rice was good too, but wasn't my favorite. It tasted a little sweet to me but it wasn't bad.

If I were to go back here again, I wouldn't mind. Maybe it was just an off night? It wasn't totally horrible but again it was weird.

My parents love this restaurant so I've been here a few times now. It never disappoints. Everything is always tasty, fresh, and plated in an aesthetically pleasing way. They have a large menu with a variety of appetizers, sushi, soups, entrees, desserts, etc. The service is fast and friendly.

On my last visit, I tried the filet mignon roll, the shrimp gyoza, and the scallops. Everything was delicious. The shrimp gyoza was some of the best I've had. Very generously packed with shrimp.

Parking is a bit of a pain because it's Montclair. I recommend checking N. Fullerton. We usually find a metered spot there. If you're really desperate, the Chase bank lot on N. Fullerton usually has paid parking (I forget the cost). There's an attendant. Not sure if this is only on weekends or what.

I highly recommend this restaurant!

This is a tremendous BYOB spot. All the food is excellent and the service has always been terrific as well. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant . My wife and I have been coming here for many years to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.

Just make sure you give yourself a few extra minutes to park as the lot behind the restaurant is usually full so you may have to park a few blocks away.
