Anytime Fitness

This place is lacking in every possible way! A total lack of communication even to join! Awful elliptical machines with so few adjustments that they can't possibly work well for anyone. Even though they've swapped them a couple times recently - maybe to make people think they're an improved model, but they are still crummy machines. For the price, there are many places with classes, more qualified staff, more & much better equipment, and an interest in their patrons. There is absolutely no effort on their part to provide customer service here!

I've been to several anytime fitness' and this one is by far the worst. If all you do for your workout is get on the treadmill, elliptical, or bike, then this gym is for you! 75% of the gym is just for that. The rest of it is just average. There is also a group of 4 that utilises the free weight section as if it's a CrossFit. So if they're here, forget about your workout, as they take up the majority of the free weight section. Also, if you are thirsty forget about using the drinking fountains. They are F%*%#^ DISGUSTING!!! For a gym that has just recently had a "remodel" you would have thought they could put in some new fountain heads. Wouldn't be surprised if anyone gets a disease from taking a sip.

Buyer beware!!! This fitness center is all about contracts and not about people. Signed up for a 2 year membership and 1 year of private trainer time. After 6 months, developed a potentially serious medical condition. Had an event on-site after a training session one day even so they saw first hand there was a problem. Dr restricted me to no exercise in the foreseeable future. Provided the Manager with a letterhead note from the Dr. and requested cancelling the membership for medical reasons. Manager refused and said we could suspend the account. Said this had to be done first. After three months and so many tests I can't count them all, the problem remained and doctors had not identified the cause. I again requested cancelling the account. The manager requested to speak with the Dr., so I arranged that. Dr. confirmed they spoke and that Manager would follow up. Three months later, not a word from the manager. Medical problem still not resolved. I called and left a message for the manager twice. No return call. I emailed the manager and I continued calling until one day the manager answered the phone. I told him I wanted the account cancelled due to the ongoing unresolved medical condition. The manager informed me he just cancelled the membership. His tone was very short and impolite. Very unprofessional. No offer to refund the paid fees for the unused personal trainer sessions. I'm just glad to be done with this business. Avoid contract centered health facilities, especially this one. Just Goggle this brand and you'll see many similar experiences shared at other facilities.

The medical problem was finally identified. Severe Sleep Apnea, which I have apparently had for 10-15 years. 75 Apnea events per hour. Blood oxygen would drop to 60 during sleep. Doctor said it should have killed me. CPAP treatment has made a HUGE difference and is reversing the damage. Now that the Dr. has allowed me to start light exercise again, I'll be going back to Peak in Rockford. Better maintained and variety of facilities for about the same price.

New manager Jason is very friendly and generous! Gave our visiting family a free pass to use their equipment during our vacation. He was very helpful and made us feel at home. The gym itself was clean and well cared for. Recommend if u are in the area!

These are just sales people acting like they care and they don't. all they want is a sale I don't care about anything else it is sad to say and they sound robotic and not real when they tried to give you this info I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

First, I signed up for a 7 day free trial, so I could get a feel for the gym. The manager Tim was great. He gave me a tour of the gym, and he was very kind. I liked that he wasn't pushy, and he just let me workout and have fun. After the trial, I signed up for 12 months. I have so much fun here, and the staff and trainers are extremely nice and helpful. Best gym in Belvidere. The gym is clean, and it has everything that I want in a gym.

A very nice gym with an adequate amount of cardio equipment and weights. I LOVED the big stretching area complete with kettle bells, platforms for plyos and LOTS OF ROOM! They also have private cardio rooms for people to use. I've never seen that and thought it was a great idea. The facility was clean and welcoming. They were not staffed until noon during the week which was disappointing. I appologize to the management for "sneaking" in my brother in law but I did not expect the front desk to be empty at 11 am. A very nice gym that I will vist regularly when I'm in the area.

GET THIS... A family member under the age of 25 can hook up on it's family's membership plan for $10. HOWEVER in our experience it never happened that way even when the family member mentioned their referral connection. POLITELY we brought it to their attention. THIS IS WHERE they showed their true colors. It's not rocket science, but THE OWNER, Kim needed a full week to come up with the reimbursement payment schedule. Even at that, she needed more time and would get back to us after our workout. We shared with Kim about her POOR responsiveness to our concern and in her exact words Kim said... "we purposely drag our feet because that's the way we do things around here and we purposely avoid our members". WHAT?... a business owner would actually treat their members this way! I don't know about you, but we like to spend our money at good reputable places.

P.S. They promise classes to be available soon and it NEVER materializes... along with resolving their equipment problems.

Yelps star quotes need revising. I gave this place 3 stars for the very nice place that is. The absence of the other two stars are for the financing part of it. Once they got you they don't let go. This place is financed by the old Ballys that went under around the Chicago area because of their b.s. contracts. It doesn't matter what your excuse they wont let you out of the contract even for medical reasons that can be backed up. If you can I suggest paying the whole year in advance, and make sure you tell them you don't want the personal trainer stuff if you don't need it. Anyway, about the gym itself, Its ALWAYS clean and that includes the showers. Great equipment and a good location. Id totally recommend this place to someone but add to pay off the whole year and stay away from the contract thing. I wish they had a month to month, no contract option. Id pay a few bucks extra a month for that option alone.

It was a nice little gym until the current owners took over. They hired an abrasive manager and immediately jacked up the rates. This gym is over priced compared to the competition. I ended up going back to Peak Fitness in Rockford at a significantly lower membership cost and with far more choices of equipment. One example, when I trained at Anytime, they had one Olympic Bar, at Peak they probably have around 20. Anyway, I and others had complained about the manager, and when my membership came up and they increased it by about 50%, and went to Peak. Have made far more progress (weight training) there. Should have made the mover sooner.
