I stopped by here becuse it was across the street and my brakes were misbehaving. Mike wanted to charge me $500 for pads and shoes. That was not going to happen. $50 parts worth of parts (retail) so $450 for a 1-2 hr. brake job. Silly rabbit; tricks are for kids.
read and believe the negative reviews on here, I wish I had before wasting my time getting an estimate.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Autter Pop ..Portland, OR138298Mar 15, 2012
This is the hidden gem for tire service in Reno!
After having a nightmare of an experience at the Big O on Mae Anne while being a loyal Big O customer for 8 years, I literally called and went to every tire shop in Reno to compare options and prices on my hard to find tire size (low profiles) when I chanced upon the great staff here. They special ordered my tires and still matched the price. The friendly owner, Andy, was also kind enough to give me a ride to the airport upon dropping my car off. After many issues with the 'special' sized tires that ended up being on backorder, Andy and the staff ensured I was 100% taken care of and happy with my service.
*Great customer service
*Good communication
*Price matching
*Accountability
*Keep your eye out for their online special coupons or rebate offers!
* If it is winter tire mounting season (Nov/Dec) they can get slammed and there will be a wait time, as everyone comes at once. This is normal across the board for all tire shops at that time of year from my widespread experience.
UPDATE::: Sad to say.....I recently made a visit there for a R&B and I thought I was in the twilight zone. Apparently, one of the owners moved and the service has declined sharply! I called 2x to talk to someone and the person that answered the phone could not even take a message properly. Then I came in for my 'appointment' and waited over an hour for a R&B, while watching the worker disappear and run to the counter often, as he was the only one. Too bad.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kevin K.Reno, NV125283Jun 30, 2016
Said it would be less than a half hour to put on a new throttle pos se but I have now been here almost 2 hours ... I'm seriously annoyed. Should have just paid Reno jeep instead ..

Mike took longer than expected, but did a good job. Very nice man. We had 4 tires put on and a wheel alignment which was $200 less than another well known place.

Two weeks ago I brought in my mercedes 300sd for an alignment. They did the courtesy check and found out that I needed both my tie rods and center link replaced. I also needed my idler arm repaired. I was quoted a fair price but decided to do it myself. The alignment check was free.
Yesterday I came back in for an alignment with all my components installed and Rusty (Service Manager) was able to squeeze me in for the alignment. It took less than 90 minutes from start to finish and they did a great job.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shelly B.Reno, NV781Aug 10, 2016Updated review
I had a few problems with my aging car on Sunday. Dropped off the car early Monday morning before American Tire opened. Where can you go in this growing town to drop off your car and have the confidence that you will be on the road in no time? I can tell you where American Tire!
Called the front desk and spoke to Mike, about what was happening with my car. Spoke with them a few times during the 2 days. Wow! Mike let me know that I had a warranty on the water pump and the parts that came in the kit when my timing chain was replaced for preventive maintenance. (Which at that time,I didn't know their was a warranty on parts) Long story short, 2 days later, I received a Great discount for the warranty coverage and paid just a small amount for the bill. If you want good honest people working on you car, this is the place. Thanks, Mike for all you help making me feel safe on the road and knowing my car is ready to hit the road again. I depend on you guys more than you will ever know.. my car thanks you too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Shelly,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We try to go out of our way to help our customers and to make sure there vehicles are safe to drive! We hope you had an awesome trip and we look forward to doing business with you in the future.Mar 28, 2016Previous reviewWe are going on a 4 day trip to CA and found a screw in my tire on Saturday.Justin one of the guys that work there took care of my tire and I was on my way. Made an appointment for Monday to get new tires put on. However they found more issues with my car. The issues where from wear and tare and high mileage. Also the fact I didn't even know what struts were and a few other things. The price was not what I wanted to hear to fix my car. However, Justin kept contact with me when issues occurred. I can go on the trip and feel safe with my family. Thanks again for taking care of my car as you have for many years. Thanks Mike and Justin.

These guys were great, they squeezed me in when I missed my appointment, and was 30 minutes late. They were busy so I had to wait a little longer than if I was on time. They are very curtious, and accommodating from TV to water. The prices were exactly what they said they would be on the website.
The only thing about this place is the bathroom. It would make a trucker cringe! I will definately return but use the restroom at home before I do.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christopher M.Reno, NV2081Jun 30, 2016
Worst service ever, I was told 30 min, here it's 3 hours later just for them to change my throttle sensor. They had the wrong tools so they drove my vehicle to another shop, the only two employees had absolutely no idea what they were doing. The mechanic couldn't even call us by name and kept calling my husband , my friend, so thanks for showing us what homophobic trash you are. They also have a bbb accredited sign but the bbb says they are not accredited and they have a d- rating. So I took my vehicle across the street to Valero and in 10 minutes it was done. Thank you Valero for being across the street.

With all due respect, Christopher's review is completely misleading. His friend had the Jeeps problem diagnosed somewhere else. He simply asked us for a price to install a throttle positioning sensor and then to install it. We did that. My tech had just started here and had a tool at his old shop 1/4 mile from here. He took the jeep over there and installed the switch. I told this to Chris but he chose to mis-characterize what happened because of another incident.....When he first came into my shop, he indicated that his friend diagnosed the jeep but after that he said his husband something or other, I don't remember what he was saying. This confused me because I didn't understand him until I put two and two together. Well I didn't feel comfortable calling his friend his husband so I said "your friend." He didn't like this, it seemed like he was trying to force his personal lifestyle off on me. In his comment he called me "homophobic trash," crazy. I don't have any problem with people working out their own lives the way they think they should be. Thanks for your understanding, Mike.

Unbelievable BAD. I have been having them do winter to summer tire swaps for a few years & I don't know why I come back. I guess it is because they are cheaper. Made an appointment and 2 hours later not done. I walked in back and tires were not balancing. Mike told me it was due to water in tires from storage. Mike was actually putting scotch tape on balancer machine to counteract water in tire. Why they didn't dry them out before mounting I don't know. He blamed me for bringing in tire with water in it and the whole job taking 2 hours. They have not provided storage bags for tires for the last couple of years. They also don't mark tires for location on car for rotation when remounting. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Numerous times while waiting I have heard customers having arguments with staff over their service. The best thing that can happen to this business is they go out of business. I only have them one star because 0 was not an option.
