This is the place people come to in order to have issues corrected that were caused by other eye doctors and get them properly addressed. Also, regular eye patients can come here. I choose this location after reading about their stellar reputation.
Dr Koch examined me and related that he could do the procedure, but it wouldn't last due to an eye condition I have, and I would again need glasses in a few years. Oh well, better the truth. If I could have had the procedure, it would have been slightly more costly than another estimate I had received elsewhere, but this place has a such a good reputation, I would have done it here anyway.
The eye examination performed by the technician was the most thorough I have ever received.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lori A.Houston, TX0261Jun 25, 2023
Service was friendly and patient. Although our appointment was pushed back, the staff was very kind about informing patients of time changes and helping in directing where to go and answering any and all questions we had. I went in for both my parents and they were very accommodating to their scheduled appointment and getting them in and out as smoothly as possible.

I take my elderly mom here for care and they are outstanding. People complaining about the wait time don't realize that this is not a run of the mill eye center. This is where people come because they are a complicated case, or they are getting some other doctor's mistake fixed. The faculty here are probably some of the top eye surgeons in Texas, maybe beyond. I always come prepared for a wait, and if we have a long wait, no problem. If it goes quick, then that is a bonus. The front desk staff have never been anything but polite and friendly. If you are nice to them, they will be nice to you. Simple. Consider yourself privileged to get care here, act accordingly, be polite and everything will go smoothly. Last, if you are not a complex case, then you should probably not even be there. Go see an ophthalmologist in the community. Good luck.

I do not know if it is intentional or not but the staff are the rudest people you can encounter. I have tried to get an appointment, and it is so hard. In the past, I have gone to this clinic and waited for hours to see the physician and I tolerated it but now, even an appointment is a pain. I do not know if they are rude intentionally or they are trained to be rude.

Was able to get a same day appointment for a serious eye infection. After seeing four other doctors for this condition, I was finally given antiviral medications. Service was excellent: was treated by C. Abuata, who scheduled me for a follow up three days later, which was very reassuring. Highly recommend.

Alkek has zero regard for patients time. A cataract preop where my father saw the doc and tech for all of 5 minutes included a 2 hour sit in the waiting room. This was not a one time occurrence. It also happened when he returned for the preop on Eye 2. Then we arrived for his 2nd surgery at 7am and were left to sit in the waiting room for greater than an hour past his surgery time before ever being called back. Perhaps they should not overbook.
Their surgeons and docs may be great but don't plan on doing anything else with your day if you come here. I should have been able to take a 1/2 day vaca for my fathers surgery as his driver but ended up having to take a full day thanks to their slowness.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jack W.Houston, TX049Jan 13, 2020
I'm sitting in an empty waiting room with my wife past noon for a 10:30am doctor's appointment.
I quit coming here a year ago because of the disrespect for your time.
Nice place to waste your time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carol A.Crosby, TX42Feb 15, 2020
My son has been diagnosed with glaucoma and went to Baylor's Butler street location last year seeking further treatment and prognosis. The female doctor he saw was very rude, talked down to both of us, made us feel that her time was too important to waste answering our questions and concerns. They immediately wanted to set up surgery dates but would not provide the cost or even an approximate cost. Needless to say my son would not agree to surgery. He was charged for the office visit at that time and the bill was paid in full by his I insurance company. Today, his insurance company notified him that this establishment is charging again for the office visit. We are not happy with a company that double charges patients and totally disrespects the patient as well.

After 10 days of playing phone tag with receptionists and technicians, I was never able to connect by phone with the prescribing optometrist and time finally ran out on using my EyeMed benefits to purchase new contact lenses. My prior eye exam was expired - by 3 days! BCM asks their employees to see BCM docs, but they don't make it easy.
