Alex the Cat Groomer

I brought my cat of 7 years in to be groomed for the first time. Booking an appointment was very simple, I emailed Alex through yelp and heard back same day. I was worried my cat would be too crazy for him to handle but the second we walked in he was completely calm. Alex trimmed his nails and cleaned out his ears while I was there with no problems. He asked if I had any questions and I didn't so he sent me and my friend out for a few hours. We came back and my cat was beautifully groomed and happy. Will definitely be back!

If I could give six stars I would. Amazing cat groomer! Quick, to the point, straight forward, safe, and everything I could ask for in-between. I have an extremely aggressive cat when it comes to grooming. He is the sweetest thing before and after but grooming is not his vibe. After being 86'd from two "franchise" groomers I had multiple referrals to Alex, and after seeing his website mentioning he can "deal with the feistiest of kitties" I figured the worst that would happen at this point for my furry kitty is he would turn us away. Thankfully, he did not! Even after my cat hissed and cried through the initial consultation. When I picked my cat up he said that he's allowed to come back which was a sigh of relief and the results have been amazing! I've waited two days to post a review and the shedding is down 80% and his sanitary clip + paw trim (for litter tracking) has satisfied everything I was looking for. Plus you get a treat bag for new customers which my cat has not stopped playing with! Alex, thanks so much and I could not recommend this place enough and can't wait to come back!

Alex was fantastic! Our 18yo had some really bad matting that had just gotten too bad for us to handle. He had never seen a groomer before.

We brought him in and Alex had him relaxed in his lap in two seconds, had all of his nails clipped in under a minute, and was completely unintimidated by how matted he was.

I think lion cuts on cats look ridiculous, and my old guy is no exception, but he got every mat off without a single nick and our cat came home no more stressed than he left. Our cat has never been very good at grooming himself and as he ages he's even worse; if we need intervention again Alex will be our first call.

Don't mind how pathetic our cat looks in the photo, that's his default face and I had just given him his medication.

I love this business! Every aspect of it. Not only is he friendly and professional but I love how he gives you a welcome treat bag the first time you are a customer there and he has free stickers on his desk for his clients' owners. I love how he cleans my kitty's ears and clips her claws before I even leave so I can be at ease knowing he's not getting all scratched up. I love how he tells me what time she'll be done too.... I always take myself out to lunch around the corner while kitty is having a spa day. It's a special day.

Too rough and careless.

Our cat went in for a 3 hour appointment to get groomed. I'm not even sure why it takes that long to trim one cat.

Our cat is especially skittish. After we picked him up, he looked like he was sitting in his carrier for a long time. And he definitely seemed spooked.

When we got home, we noticed several of his whiskers on one side were cut. He ended up wobbly for a week or two after getting groomed.

I suspected, before reading some of the bad reviews, that he is simply not gentle with cats. Instead, he just brute-forces them to comply. Which may be fine for some cats and owners, but obviously not for us.

Updating my review to note that Loki is still seeing Alex about every 3 months and loving his "teddy bear" trims. I think he would have preferred being born a short haired cat, but that just wasn't the lot he was dealt :)

We not only took our matted long haired farm cat SAM to Alex and were blown away at how Sam quietly laid on his back while Alex trimmed his nails (Sam would never let us do that although we tried several times) and looked amazing in his new Lion Cut when we picked him up BUT after that fabulous experience we also took in our OLD 18 year old cat MOCHA who lived alone upstairs and was afraid of her own shadow and she too had a great experience and lived through it, looks fabulous in her Lion Cut and is acting WAY more assertive and happy now that she is mat free and beautiful. Mocha is totally demanding of our attention now and is acting years younger. Both cats LOVE their new hair style and we do too. We HIGHLY recommend Alex the Cat Groomer..."He certainly is the expert!". We plan to continue having these two trimmed in the future when their fur grows back in...

I was so excited about getting my cat groomed - bathed and cleaned and smelling nice, especially because my mom will be visiting in a few days and she really loves my cat. But Alex shaved her entire belly without even asking us and now she looks like she did when we had first started fostering her :( so thin and unkempt :( We had been brushing and cutting her mats away ourselves and i know her belly definitely didnt need a shave yet - if it had, i would have done it myself. I really wish Alex had asked us before shaving her. The rest of her fur is still uneven- even around the toe pads. Her face is clean and her fur smells nice, but honestly, shaving her without our consent just seems not right. I feel sad every time I look at Choochie's beautiful face now :(

We took 2 of our cats for grooming. We were excited about getting them groomed based on the reviews. They were nice enough to accomodate both cats although we had reservation for only one. But we were sorely disappointed for a few reasons:
- Very bad shaving ; left pink spots on the cats
- Was not gentle in handling the cats
- It's a black box once you leave the cats there. We asked if we could take a peek at what grooming amenities were there but were denied
- a 3 hour service was complete withing less than 2 hours and the cats were made to sit in the bag for a whole hour before we picked them up
- Overall doesn't give you a friendly vibe
Will not be returning

Alex was amazing! I was able to get both my cats groomed at the same time which was extremely convenient to be able to drop them off at the same time instead of separately. Both my cats struggle with grooming but Alex gave the okay with bringing them back and he did such a good job on the teddy bear cut and lion cut. Clipped the nails, cleaned their ears and all within a few hours. I will be using him again in the future when they need another groom.

My cat was hurt by him. My cat , Laney was groomed by him. Today I find his paw's nails had blood. his beard was broken. My cat felt so down yesterday and this man took us 125 dollars. What should I do for my cat? Do I need contact my vet?
