Akira Sushi Bistro

Had to work late on a cold rainy Wednesday, decided to reward my grumbling tummy with a hot pot of tea and my fav sushi rolls. Akira was next door and calling my name so I drove over quickly worried it was going to be packed around dinner time. Surprisingly, there was only a few tables occupied I was seated pronto. I ordered my usual green tea, salmon, unagi and caterpillar rolls.
I was served a small bowl of salad and miso soup within minutes.. starving, both went down the hatch quickly.
Sushi was great, I loved the rice especially. It was perfectly done and seasoned. I've tried plenty of sushi places and it always irks me when rice is too sour or falls apart when you pick it up.

Service was great, staff were attentive and didn't hover over like bees especially towards the end when I was the only table left. This will be my new go to sushi place whenever I'm around Ashburn.

This is the best sushi place in the dmv area! Tako yaki was very flavorful. The service was amazing and the food came out quick. The overall look of the restaurant is also very appealing.

My husband and I eat dinner here, and it has the best sashimi and sushi. We have been to more expensive restaurants in Ashburn and Falls Church, and we prefer the taste, quality, and service at Akira.

We share edamame, sashimi regular, and a couple of rolls. I love the Alaskan roll and the Akira Moonlight. My husband has tried several of their rolls, and they're all delicious.

The staff always offer a warm welcome when we arrive, and they are extremely attentive and caring.

Food is consistent. I'm a big fan of their Katsu dishes. They are portioned very generously. I've only had one time where it didn't meet my standards but I continue to come here.z

Service is excellent. The staff share in the responsibility of good service to all their customers.

The sushi chefs always acknowledge incoming and outgoing guests. Tables are spaced nice.

Akira Sushi Bistro is a sushi restaurant for people who want a variety of choices for their rolls. Known for its fresh sushi and various choices for specialty rolls, I stopped into the restaurant as I tried to find a nice lunch spot to sit down and eat. Inside you'll be surrounded by wooden finished furniture with neutral tones, warm overhead lights, and mostly seating for tables for 4 and more.

I agree with the other reviews about the wide range of rolls as they had specialty rolls on a board as well as a separate special menu.

I ended up settling on the yakitori to try their appetizers and ordered the specialty winter fire roll. First, the yakitori, which sat in a bed of teriyaki sauce, was tough as I had to make a decent effort to chew the pieces. The pepper and onions were nicely grilled being tender with light char on the sides.

Next was the Winter Fire which I had high hopes for as it contained salmon and white tuna, my two favorite types of fish. Although the fish was fresh the Winter Fire was more like a Winter Dessert as the kewpie mayo in the roll overpowered the natural smoky and savory flavor of the white tuna and seared salmon that makes this roll so good. My advice is to switch out the sauce.

Although I left my trip to Akira slightly disappointed with the rolls, I'm still optimistic about coming and trying the sashimi, perhaps with a couple of friends.

Another great sushi night at Akira. Ken the sushi chef is amazing as is the server Grace.

we had the best lunch,! The service, quality of food, cleanliness and friendliness of staff is excellent. When you are craving great sushi, Udon soups, Bento boxes they all taste great and authenti. This restaurant has remained the same throughout COVID and kept same prices and staff the entire time. We would recommend dining here.

Excellent food, very friendly, prompt service. The sushi chef's always have a warm greeting and a cheerful "Thank you very much" on your way out.

Good food, friendly service, nice ambiance. Would definitely come back! Great spot to come with friends or on a date. Family friendly as well.
